Ugh i miss her so much. The soul, different textures to her voice, her phrasing, her no nonsense approach to singing and shading. Excellent analysis on her singing.
Aretha wasn't the most generous with compliments (bc she is Aretha Franklin, I would be mostly impressed with myself if I was her). This was the single most complimentary thing I have ever heard her say about a female singer, it's the obvious, undeniable truth. Whitney should have been the one doing tributes to Aretha instead of this way around and it's so hard we have lost them both now. Aretha made it her own like she always did and did it beautifully. That kind of "two-part" riff at 3:53 is so sick.
That was beautiful . Aretha`s voice was still so rich and full yet buttery and warm all at the same time, her piano playing was awesome too.... I remember Aretha doing numerous tributes to Whitney at her concerts when most other singers had stopped .
What can I say besides the Queen of Soul ❤ great reaction! Btw I would love to see you react to their iconic duet as well as her best performance of Respect in 1967. Two of the best in my book.
Beautiful!! Awesome!! It's not that there aren't many. However, these 2 Live clips of Aretha show her Unique vocal gifts that can do anything. No head voice used and she goes anywhere high or low that she wants to go. Mister Spain Live (31 yrs old). Today I love everybody. (25 years old).
What a soulful cover, one of my favourite Whitney covers ever. But, no one covers Whitney like Patti!! Please listen to her performance of I have nothing it’s amazing
Hey Adam you should definitely react to Gladys Knight’s tribute to Whitney too, she sang All the man that I need, Run to you and a song for you and it’s just mind blowing
Aretha Franklin, Patti labelle even dolly parton in her 50s, 60s and 70s still sounds amazing and soulful. Also Lisa Fischer too, that women at her age now is incredible
Prob get crap for my opinion but Aretha yes is great and the queen of soul. Nothing compares to Whitney at all signing this song even dolly who wrote the song had to pull in on side of road when It came on radio. I'm the biggest Celine dion fan over any of the divas but Whitney owned I will always love you.in fact I'd say that shirley bassey would be the one to give same power as Whitney to the fast vibrato of this song
Her piano playing was very underrated! She really could play! Now her vocals here are far from the best or good. Yet it was nice to see Aretha pay tribute to Nippy
Hi Adam! I think it's been a while since you've first reacted to Cakra Khan, I have a few great video recommendations for you to check out from Cakra: Iris by Goo Goo Dolls orchestra version (I guarantee you're gonna love this one), Monsters by James Blunt cover, It's a Man's Man's World cover, and Broken Vow by Lara Fabian cover. Thank you and have a blessed night/day!🙌🏻
@@NIPPYxMIMI I did not know under what circumstances she performed the song. A song is basically the "property" of its creators, I believe. Not its interpreters.
@@vassilisvouris6269 It was said by Aretha in the video, but despite you not watching, you were so quick to leave the most annoying comment. This isn't about musical ownership (which you are also wrong about)
@@NIPPYxMIMII remain adamant that the ownership of a song belongs to the creators of the lyrics and music. If it were otherwise, then why did Parton refuse to SELL the song to Elvis Presley? Anyhow, in the soundtrack for the film, the song is fabulously, unsurpassingly, divinely sung by Houston, no doubt, albeit she changed the stylistic approach towards it, the song being composed in a different style altogether. So, Aretha Franklin was performing in hommage to Houston, a song by Parton, which she heavily altered.
Many would say that "Hit Me Baby One More Time" is Britney Spears' song, even though she didn't write it. This is Dolly Parton's song, yes, her version is the original. But you suggesting Aretha was tributing Dolly was very unnecessary, it was clear what she was doing. "Killing Me Softly" is a Roberta Flack song, even though she didn't write it. It's also a Fugees song, even though they didn't write it. They are iconic covers, as synonymous with those artists as the original, if not more. We shouldn't forget that Lori Lieberman was the original artist of "Killing Me Softly", but the only thing you did with your original comment was denying the context and significance of this performance (and Whitney). And this is way more time than I wanted to spend arguing this haha
Aretha was a true musician! No gimmicks needed! She could make them keys 🎹 sing! 🙌
So many have passed now Whitney, Aretha, Tina, Amy, Sinead, the list goes on...
Ugh i miss her so much. The soul, different textures to her voice, her phrasing, her no nonsense approach to singing and shading.
Excellent analysis on her singing.
Her lows and yet those highs

Play and saaanng the iconic legendary Ms. Aretha ❤❤❤❤❤❤
You should hear and reaction about Aretha Franklin sing "My Heart Will Go On". This was soulful

Soul Queen. RIP
There's 1994 fan footage of Aretha singing IWALY at a concert..you just need the patience to look past the audio quality but it's great.

Maaaaaan alive.... i wish more singers nowadays had that old school vibe. Please give me some names
This was a wonderful musical tribute.
Aretha was really hesitant to verbalise a compliment about a singer tho haha
Aretha could sing anything for real. Come on now!
She couldn’t sing this song cause she was struggling.
@@OliviaSpencer2024 Crazy comment goes to you.
@@babyboylovesmusic She was struggling.
My girl
Now react to her cover of touch my body.
Haha and Hero!
That video is hilarious
Eyyy! Glad you're back. Have you ever reacted to Aretha performing Nessun Dorma in 1998? If not, please do.

Such a tragedy we will never get to see Whitney at that age and great job Aretha, truly the queen of soul

I agree. Only Whitney could do this song justice!
I’m not too found of this performance because she should have been at the funeral!
It wasn't a good performance either
i find it hard to believe you haven't already watched these videos.
Can you do a review of Christmas Party for Two by Brandy from her new Christmas album?
Her piano playing was very underrated! She really could play! Now her vocals here are far from the best or good. Yet it was nice to see Aretha pay tribute to Nippy

You mean a tribute to Dolly Parton...
No. It was a tribute to Whitney Houston, just after her passing. Not everything is about you making known that you know who wrote this song.

Unpopular opinion but i think she butchered the song. She is def one of the greats but stay away from this iconic song.
I agree with you everytime she did it was horrible even back in the 90's. Don't know who told her to cover I Will Always Love You
She butchered that song! Why would she even attempt to sing a Whitney song?!
