    Since June first, we've had a whipping 2.8" of rain plus a trace non measurable yesterday...
    Good to see the bulls out and all the grass!!
    Our normal summers, hay gets done in small windows of 3 to 5 days.. gotten spoiled the last few years with drought, just cut and do it.. keep cutting...
    Hopefully you can get haying soon!!

      @@AlbertaRanch I need a ranch name. Ferguson ranch don't stand out to me plus there's already a Ferguson ranch.
      Let me know which name sounds catchy if you don't mind.
      Spring creek ranch, Jack ass meadows 🤣 (joking) HH ranch (my great grandpa owned 700 acres it's all been sold but my 160 acres is 1 of the properties he leased.
      Then there's moldrup ranch which was my wife's name before I married her.

    Beautiful country. I lived in Calgary for awhile but am back in MB now. Have not seen a mosquito for 5 years here because of the drought but now the rain is back and hopefully global warming effects are not permanent here.
    I watch some videos of cattle ranchers using AI only and the science behind the bloodlines and feed is quite impressive and complex. Do you know how many ranchers use AI versus traditional bulls in AB? Which is the better choice or is there one?

    • @AlbertaRanch
      @AlbertaRanch  2 роки тому +1

      I have only seen AI used in purebred operations around here. Certainly benefits but also very labour intensive. Not sure it would be possible with July / August breeding on pasture.

    • @yurizhivago4848
      @yurizhivago4848 2 роки тому +1

      @@AlbertaRanch Thanks for the reply. One channel I watch produces purebreds for sale to other ranchers but the guy has a PhD in animal sciences and a niche market for specialty animals. I thought it may be more popular better to get a higher rate of conception and more animals which equals more money.

    Well weighing his heifers in another group and oml. My favorite heifer is 2 and a half months and 384 pounds 😁 to bad she has to pay off her mama still or I would keep her. Long body, thick, calm, fairly balanced. Ughs!!

    Some good looking cattle you have there.
    But this video reminds me of the old joke about the two bulls one young bull one old bull standing on a hill looking down on a field full of heifers, the young bull goes quick lets run down and sha99 a few of those heifers, the old bull just calmly says na lets walk down and sha99 em all.
    Hope this wont offend anyone.
