Beautiful! AND super easy to turn it into a Hallowe'en background with those colours...maybe add a little black and coppery orange splatter, for example. 😊
Beautiful cards, Cathy ~ and so nice to get those kinds of results without the strong fumes of alcohol ink. Going to binge watch your videos with ink blending, stamp layering, and stenciling as I'm finally ready to start trying those techniques this spring! Sure do appreciate you!
That's what I thought too! No more Christmas-sy location, to me, than Finland. I saw Santa there as a child and had a husky ride over frozen lakes under the Aurora Borealis 😍
I put my warped panels under some small fabric bags filled with BBs! The panel will dry faster if it is damp (spaces between the BBs allow air flow) and the small bags form to any layers or embellies you’ve added. Even the worst panels come out flat. I often make my cards with lots of layers, foam tape and embellishments as just a card front, then when I added an acrylic block to hold the card front to the card base, the corners and edges didn’t adhere. So I figured out to use BBs!
BBS are ball bearings. Can also be a form of ammunition that went in a BB gun. Those were a shiny copper color. Regular ball bearings are silver color. Probably can be found at a hardware store or possibly automotive. I looked it up: Walmart, Amazon, Dick’s
FYI- I was sent a notice about the Elmer craft bond spray adhesive being not safe to use. I believe it has some chemicals that are not safe to inhale. I know you used a mask but others may not be aware. Both cards turned out so well! 😊
I've done the smoosh technique with photo paper. It gives a really lovely shiny finish, but tends to not be able to move the paper on the glass, so wherever you put it, is where the paper will pick it up. I used the spares/trials as paper for die cut flowers for the card I made.
I've also been sending your videos to my Mum, which has reinvigorated her crafting. She often phones me and we talk about the videos. She made a card the other day, using the stacking for the sentiment, put a frame on the card, and did some coloring of a floral stamp. She did say she should have lifted the frame to give it more depth, but was impressed with how it turned out.
Hi Cathy, I cut into the mat but on the writing side - not sure if it matters or not 😆 but I also go into the machine landscape style and sometimes portrait style and it keeps the machine guessing LOL
I try not to cut into the magnetic mat, but I sometimes do! Oops! I love the way the mat holds the dies down. I wish it was available individually so it could be used like a consumable.
Cathy, such pretty cards🤗. I wasn’t a fan of the Pointed Evergreens, when they were released last year. Then I saw the card you previously used them on and ordered them immediately. Tonight’s card tells me I made a good decision. It just shows how important it is that our favorite UA-camrs use the products for us to see😀. Thank you.
Really nice looking cards Cathy! Love the 3 skinny shaped tree die. Although I prefer traditional Christmas colors the purple is pretty cool for a change up. I may have said this before? Anyway TFS appreciate your inspiration! ❤😀
Question: @ 1:50 you say you want to use cool colors and that these colors are analogous. So that’s what makes colors cool vs. warm? I have a real hard time distinguishing the hue (warm vs cool) of certain colors; some look warm with reddish undertones, and some appear to be cooler, with I guess blueish undertones. I guess I had this info all wrong and that’s why I can never figure it out! So it has something to do w/ the colors being analogous too? 😩 ❤the colors used… I love non-traditional Christmas cards❤
Cool colors are on one half of the color wheel… greens into purples. The other half is red into yellow. Analogous just means they follow in order on the wheel. You are correct though, some tones on the cool side can have warmer undertones, and vice versa. Color is a confusing category sometimes!!!
Anna griffin always cuts into the black mat not the plates. Saves the plates. It’s only about 10 dollars to replace a mat against 40 for plates. Then flip your plates over to prevent bending
It depends on what type of grip you like. I have wrist issues and right now I'm using the precision. Press some of the time but if I use it for a long period of time my wrist starts to hurt. But the small squeeze bottles that I've been using for many years never hurt my wrists!
Cathy u are great! Except I keep.Buying stuff cuz of u lol the Gemini 2 and everything that goes on a card lol!! I’m having so much fu!! All of ur cards are beautiful!!
Love the colored background...grew up in Michigan and the one with white trees reminded me of Northern lights shimmering in the sky.
I love that background - it reminds me of the Northern lights!
Love the cards but my favorite is the tall, thin pines and beautiful purple and green background.
Good choice!
I am going for the ink smushing card. Quick. Easy. Effective. Dramatic.
GREAT CARDS! Love the colors. It reminds me of northern lights. Great job as always. Thanks for sharing. Have a great week.
What adorable cards my favorite is the trees by themselves…….
Hi. I love colours and love the cards, thank goodness you didn't ask for a favourite to be picked! Thanks for sharing and have a lovely day.😊

Watching the replay in Illinois. 😊
Both card fronts nice, but my fave is the colored trees! Great idea. TFS
The one with the pointy trees looks like a night sky with the aurora borealis
Beautiful! Non-traditional Xmas card color schemes are my favorite.
Mine too!

I love both of them. I might have to case.

What is BBs?
Great tip

Oh wow. Okay. yes I use a mask but that is good to know. Maybe it's just time to use liquid for everything!
Gorgeous ❤
Love these! So pretty
Love the colors. Will have to try this.
Those are so beautiful! I love the purples and greens together!
Again Cathy, gorgeous cards.

Oh how fun! say hi to your mum!
OOOHHHH Noooo! Poor Dr Suess book! GO DOG GO.... a favorite of mine from childhood :) "Do you like my hat?"
Love these
Cathy you did an awesome job
Cathy, I absolutely LOVE these 2 cards!! ❤❤❤
I love the colorful trees ❤
Cute cards. I cut into the magnetic plate. I usually use the metal shim, especially if it's an intricate die.
Both are gorgeous…love the backgrounds and those trees💜💚💜
I totally love this color combination MOST especially for winter/Christmas cards.
Beautiful cards, Cathy! 😊
These are so serene and beautiful Cathy! 🤩
Thanks Cathy- really great ideas and cute cards!

Beautiful cards❤
These cards and background are just perfect ! And the colors are so pretty. Cathy you always make great cards.
Hi Cathy, I cut into the mat but on the writing side - not sure if it matters or not 😆 but I also go into the machine landscape style and sometimes portrait style and it keeps the machine guessing LOL
Good to know! Thanks for sharing this with me. Still getting the hang of this machine but i like it so far!
Beautiful! Love a good ink smushing! 😊❤️
Love these cards. The colors are so pretty!
I just love these cards. So simple so effective . They would be all ready for Christmas thank you. 🎉🎉
I love the cards! The three trees is my favorite! I am definitely going to try this technique!
Hello. I’m excited to see how you made this card. It’s beautiful. Watching from Calgary Alberta.
Awesome cards! I love the purple too!!! Your sentiment set is great❤️
Lovely cards! I don’t have your machine but the magnetic base/plate whatever it is called will move my dies around if I don’t tape them down.
I try not to cut into the magnetic mat, but I sometimes do! Oops! I love the way the mat holds the dies down. I wish it was available individually so it could be used like a consumable.
Oh wow, I thought you could buy them separately. Hmmm. Good to know!

Hello from DE
Anna griffin always cuts into the black mat not the plates. Saves the plates. It’s only about 10 dollars to replace a mat against 40 for plates. Then flip your plates over to prevent bending
I have a mat too but accidentally put my die on upside down so now I have a big mustache cut into the middle of my plate, I was so upset.
Use Anna Griffin. Love it, use clear plate, magnetic plate, paper, die and clear plate.
I think the finished card looks like Aurora Borealus!
Is that hot glue you are using?
Might I ask where you got your fan brush and what number it is I usually get brushes at Micheals
It's a number for brush, and I have the link in the description box!
I have bad arthritis in my hand. What do you think about the precision glue tool? Is it easy to use?
It depends on what type of grip you like. I have wrist issues and right now I'm using the precision. Press some of the time but if I use it for a long period of time my wrist starts to hurt. But the small squeeze bottles that I've been using for many years never hurt my wrists!

Hello from sunny San Diego
Cathy u are great! Except I keep.Buying stuff cuz of u lol the Gemini 2 and everything that goes on a card lol!! I’m having so much fu!! All of ur cards are beautiful!!
What would you use if you don’t have a glass mat?
Any slick surface would work! Even the acetate from a stamp package!
Susan, I bought a cheap silicone baking mat to make my messy projects on. It works like a dream and is easy to clean!
I run them through my machine to flatten
Cathy, Does the white splatter ink have an odour?
No!
Thanks Cathy. :)
