Excellent! Pool service told me to do it myself because the fee wouldn't be worth their effort. I appreciated their honesty since a previous provider wanted almost $1500.00 up front for leak testing alone.
Can a bad valve cause the water to drain out of your pool. I assume if the pressure (weight of water) is greater than the water table the water will drain ? I've been here 16 years and the pool is 40 years old (gunnite) and don't think its ever been replaced. I lose water even after I plugged the skimmer and verified its more than Evaporation ?
Just saw this message and yes there is an oring that will go bad and cause leakage or the ground water will lift the lid and will not reseat correctly due to debris getting stuck in lid
Is that the only type of hydrostatic valve you can buy?? There’s none without an oring that degrades within 5 years?!? Seems like not a great product if u have to change it so often….
For a new gunite pool build how do you add a hydrostatic relief valve? Do you buy a main drain with a hydrostatic relief valve already installed? Also, does the hydrostatic relief valve have a PVC pipe attached to it that goes down into the ground?
@@hoosierleakguy4565 so the pool is cast concrete, it's new and the current valve as well. Is it possible the valve just needs to be tightened? Or does it need to be removed completely and reinstalled?
Ground water can cause lid to open and they are designed to close on their own and sometimes they get debris stuck in the lid ..just go down if you have a way and lift the lid and clear it
I'm having an issue with my hydrostatic valve im looking to replace it do I need scuba gear to replace it or am able to do it quickly by just holding my breath already subscribed to your channel so much great pool info a big thanks from Florida
Hey mate. I have an 80s era pool with a valve like the one in the video. Doesn't seem to be leaking but my pool cleaner gets stuck on the valve. I have seen a low profile valve, just wondering if it's the same method to change over. Cheers.
Is it a concrete or gunite pool? See if water loss is the same running compare to turned off that will determine a structural leak or in the pool lines
You need to get you some microphones for your intro. You should also title your videos "How to". It will put your videos at the top of the search engine algorithm. Please do some hunting videos to! Doing great so far brotha!
I totally agree with the mic thing and thanks for the advice I will definitely add the How to been balls to the wall lately with leaks havnt had time to record another one
How much suction is there when you remove the valve? I’m assuming it’s like removing a bath plug. What are the dangers of getting caught in the suction?
Sorry I misread your question answer is yes it will leak for a minute sometimes. Sometimes the hydrostatic valve has been leaking for days or even weeks and there is so much water from pool combined with natural ground water it dosnt leak much or at all
I’m in Brownsburg, we bought a home here with an inground pool, and we have been losing water since a local company opened the pool for us five days ago. I’ve been trying to contact Leakmeisters - took me three days to be able to leave a voicemail, still waiting to hear back. Are you available?
@@hoosierleakguy4565 just left you another phone message - after going June-September without water loss, colder weather brought back our water loss and we need your services! I haven’t done a bucket test yet but will do one tonight

The main drain bowl has 2 threaded holes one is to plumb the drain line to the pump and one is for the hydrostatic valve and they are not pre installed and no there is no pipe that drops below

Wow! $295 is my flat fee
Yes they sell on Amazon and they can last longer if you keep pool balanced there is an oring that will swell up if you don’t keep the pool balanced
I've read to use teflon tape on the threads, which I didn't see in the video. Maybe that goes without saying. . . .
I wrapped Teflon on the threads before I took it down :)

Is this the same process if the old valve is brass?
No might have to empty pool for that one those can be a bear to remove
Yeah not hard to notice..lol I took the plastic one to a machine shop and had it made and also had one made for floor jets

From one leak detector to another - where did you get that tool to remove the hydrostatic valve? I cannot find one anywhere?
Good video, when the old valve is removed, does pool water escape until the new valve is installed?
Yes it will just have the new one ready!

Need a hydrostatic valve tool and good luck holding your breath but it’s not impossible with a few trips up for air
Dope vid

There are a couple different manufacturers and they have their own tool just make sure you have the right one.
Good video! Is it necessary to have hydrostatic relief valve? Could I remove the valve and plug it with a jet plug permanently to prevent leaking?
Yes absolutely but if you ever drain your pool make sure to pull the plug and if painting build a stand pipe about 5’ long to screw into it
Can I add a hydrostatic valve in my fiberglass pool when the ground water is about 18 inches higher than the bottom of the pool
Nope you need a French drain!
I have the water is draining out could it be the hydrostat

depends on the water table and how long the pool has been leaking most of the time its not too bad
How tight should the new valve be?
Keep in mind it’s just plastic so just snug and use thread tape
I see that you did that with the pool being full. Will it leak a lot of water when you change it out while full?
The one in my pool looks metal not pvc like 8n this video. Can I change it out with a pvc one? Thanks
You always want pool full when locating especially if it’s a structural leak

mess up music. who uses gloves ?
I use gloves when water temp is 40 degrees! 🙄
