Hi Andrea! Select blinds is.a great company! I found them through you and I have purchased Roman Shades for one room and horizontal blinds for two other large windows in two other rooms. They are all beautiful and have lasted over four years. We had made a mistake with one of the measurements (I'm just going to say not my mistake 😊....) but thankfully they had a guarantee that they replace for just the price of shipping which was only $10. They didn't want the "wrong" ones back and I received them within a week. I've recommended them to others and they are very satisfied too. So thanks again for recommending this a few years ago because I have been very satisfied with the product and the service.

Andrea, thank you ever so much for the transparent review! I love all of your you tube content about house and home, so this is much appreciated! Do they have any deterioration from the back side from the sun hitting them? Yes, they appear timeless and classic as well as ver clean lined. Bravo on such a wonderful choice! It always scares me to invest in something I think I may love and even doing my ‘homework’ about the littlest of details, it’s always nice to have the stamp of approval from someone that you’ve grown to trust and admire…so, thank you so kindly. Now, on to watch about the Roman shades as those have piqued my interest, too! Hugs from Illinois. ☺️

I am in the process of getting quotes for natural woven Roman-styles shades for our new home build. How do you think they look from outside the home? I'm debating getting the ones on the street-facing side lined in a an off-white thinking it will look better.?
You can also get woven blinds in top down and motorized options! So many choices.
This was very helpful, and this helped me think about how the color is the natural blinds should coordinate with other wood tones in the room.
You can also bought bamboo roller shades over 15 years ago for the kitchen and dining room of our Cape Cod home we just sold, and I loved them. They are timeless, go with many decor styles, you can use them alone or with curtains, Ave they are easy to clean...I just dusted them.
They were extremely inexpensive and easy to install. Even though my home was 50 years old, I was able to buy standard sizes.. Mine had a 5-6 inch valance that hid the mechanism.. They had the cord, but we kept them permanently rolled up to the save height (with the cord wrapped around a little wing bolt?) because privacy was not an issue.
I am not getting quotes for natural woven shades that are more light filtering (the bamboo are great if you want more light blocking/privacy.)

I’ve been struggling with what to do with my windows for well over a year now. Do I want shades or shutters? Shutters are so expensive and the cost is what’s been holding me
back. I really like what you’ve done. I would have never thought to switch styles (Roman vs roller shades, same color) in an adjoining room! I love the color & texture you chose as well. Keep in mind that plantation shutters block a lot of natural light, even when open, because of the casings and thickness, I read as much as 30%, and that, of course affects your view. It's also a lot of manual manipulation. They are also difficult to keep clean, and tend to look dated. Even if you don't think they look dated, I don't think they look great with many decor or home styles, e.g., a modern oranch. I think they look perhaps good on the homes they were invented for, southern plantation. Good luck!!!

This is such fantastic info! I am wondering about the privacy you get with the woven fabric... If it is nighttime and the lights are on inside, how much can people see from the street into the house? Just vague silhouettes? I am considering putting in woven roller shades in a guest bedroom and I would want people to feel comfortable with the level of privacy. Thank you for any information you can offer!

You dismissed and apologised about this vlog not being great content. Stop. Think about this.
I think that was GREAT content!!!
As you would know, when you need to make a decision on something like a new kitchen table or new blinds, we can get a bit obsessed and NEED some decent information and help when we are trying to decide if what works for others would translate for our space.
What you offered was a deeper dive on JUST your roller blinds and that is sooo valuable to those thinking about or needing to decide on new blinds, now or the constant future viewers of people moving house!
I would actually LOVE some more videos where you offer a deeper dive on ONE narrow subject, of what you've learned through your experiences, pros and cons, and if you would happily buy them again.
There is so much content out there in the "homemaking youtube" about how to refresh, do over, diy, make new, give it an update... where as for MOST homemakers, really that is a new pillow once in a while or a vase of flowers. Most homemakers aren't looking for constant projects, but just to survive crazy lives and create a sense of keeping up! Yet when they NEED new blinds or a new price of furniture, well, they need to make a decision and decide eventually.
Your video will help people decide.
Products that last well and you are happy with 5 years later, and you sharing that information (ESPECIALLY as they are still available, not to mention how obsessed your viewers are with them) give your viewers really foundational homemaking information rather than just content that might be enjoyable to watch but they might not really find invaluable.
Don't dismiss your gained knowledge from your lived experiences. As a busy mum of home, living in a smallish home with 4 small children that IS totally relatable content for many.
Where yiur home HAS to be functional AND you've made it beautiful and something still is working well 5 years .... well that is golden information for many of us who dream of a lovely home like yours but are just trying to keep up with life.
    Xoxo

I know this might sound like a stupid question but here goes: Do your shades have privacy liners on the back and if not can people from the street see through them at night? Also, If they are not lined on the back do the shades look consistent from the street ? In other words does each different type of shade on the windows have a different look from the street. I have heard that windows look better from the street if they all have the same window treatment and look the same color. This is sometimes hard to achieve since every room doesn't always call for the same type of window treatment. I have bamboo blinds at my windows that face the street and I put privacy liners on them years ago when they weren't so hard to put on. All my blinds need replacing now and they are so expensive and the privacy liners that I can find are not as well made as the older ones and I just cannot get them on properly. They sag and look horrible from the street. I can't afford custom blinds and cannot afford to replace ALL my blinds right now with just unlined bamboo blinds. Unlined blinds do not provide enough privacy at night. Sorry this is such a LONG comment but I'm having a frustrating time trying to update my blinds for a consistent, clean look and that will provide privacy from the street. I LOVE the look of bamboo blinds so I don't want to use anything else. Thanks for any help you can give. Always, enjoy your channel.
