I wish we had programs like this in the USA... I'm lucky that my dad was a modeler and helped me build my Falcon back in about 1988. Other kids had no help starting. Now, I'm helping my 8 year old daughter build her Midnight Pumpkin. May I make some suggestions to Tamiya for improvement and to help stay relevant in today's RC market? 1) No more bushings. Full bearing set should be included with every model. Greased bushings attract dirt and cause parts to wear out. If needed, increase the kit cost by $5 to cover a full bearing set for every model. 2) Instructions should not forbid LiPo batteries, but rather instruct on how to use them safely. 3) Upgrade your connectors. These old Molex/Tamiya style connectors loosen up after very few connect/disconnect cycles, which results in a high impedance connection and lost power, not to mention high heat. Your competitor, Kyosho, uses "T-style" (fake Deans) connectors, that work a lot better. Traxxas developed their own plug, which now has the cell balance leads built in. XT60 or EC3 is also a very good option not to waste energy 4) Improve parts support and customer service abroad. One of the reasons Traxxas is doing so well is because parts are quick and easy to get. Tamiya parts are hard to get, especially for discontinued models. 5) For the re-release kits, use modern plastics. There's no reason to use 1980s plastics these days. The models could be much more durable... Is it an issue with the old molds not being friendly with the modern plastics, or ...? Thanks for reading.
