Favorite Fractal Friday for sure!! Would love to see more nu-metal or hard rock recreations (Breaking Benjamin, Nickelback, Limp Bizkit, Disturbed, etc.)
Yes!! He absolutely *killed* it here with this recto tone. Easily one of the best high gain axe fx guides I've seen on YT. I'd especially love it if he took on Dragula by Rob Zombie-- more industrial than nu metal, but has a huge sound in the chorus especially and that whole record was produced and mixed super interestingly.
What budget guitar would be best to play these type of songs? I am looking at sub $250 right now the Donner dst 400 or the Donner DMT 100 also with which ever one of those will be best to play linkin park with is there any other accessories or programs I will need? Thank you to anyone that helps!
@@MACHOx3_theRealestateGamecat You can’t go wrong with any of the modern amp plugins (Neural DSP, STL, etc.) if you have computer access and install a free Digital Audio Workstation like Reaper if you’re on PC or Garageband on Mac
Downloaded it and grinning ear to ear. I played in nu-metal cover band from 2005 to 2010. I could have done 90% of all 3 sets with this one preset. Love it!!
I have photos of Brad's Fractal layout from a previous tour where he was running an Axe Fx II and some pedals in a RJM switcher. Recto 2 modern model and Friedman HBE model
Fantastic recreation again!! Thank you Cooper. I would love to see you tackle a more modern dropped tone like Erra, Monuments, Invent Animate, Humanities Last Breath etc. I know most of those albums are done with plugins but there is a lot of pre tone shaping on the DI and tricks like that that I would like to see your process on.
Strange i was just looking for a preset for this song a couple days ago and couldnt find anything and now i see this today. Sweet! Sounds awesome. Thanks!
These are amazing, thank you so much for these! Killer tones there. Would love to have a Blink 182 Tom Delonge and/or Green Day Billy Joe Armstrong tone!
Wow wow wow, simply amazing, I think this is the best preset I have in my unit, Cooper is such a great professional, I hope he teach us how to get James Hatfield clean tone some day lol. Thanks for this Videos Cooper, this so fckn cool.
Easily the best video so far. And here's something funny: at the time this artist and others like them were popular, I was vehemently anti-"baggy pants metal," as I referred to it back then. Not that the previous decades were much different - or better, if we're being honest. It just wasn't my cup of tea. With the passing of time, I now realize that Cooper is right. There were huge record company budgets pre-streaming, and instrumental and recording techniques were at their apex. Bands were able to grow with their craft. Although I still prefer other types of music generally, I have massive respect for these artists and others of their ilk. I actually like a lot of it now! But getting to the nitty gritty: this Dual Rectifier tone will definitely shake the legs of those baggy pants. It's tremendous! Shameless plug: I have greatly benefited from Cooper's classes when I got all my Fractal devices. They're completely worthwhile, and personally I got a far greater return on my investment. No more wishing and hoping for more features; I can dial in all the settings I want with ease. If you're on the fence about the classes, do it! You won't regret the time spent. Think of it as correspondence courses, and commit yourself to one or two lessons per day. Highly recommended.
Great video Cooper! If you haven't seen it yet, I love the LP BTS videos in the studio where they show the blending of a Marshall Plexi/JCM amps and Mesa Rectifier amps during the recording sessions of HT and Meteora. That's the classic late 90's-00's rock and punk tone (Linkin Park, AFI, blink-182 etc.)
This is awesome! Thanks for putting this together. Request list would include tone recreations from: Tom Morello, Tom DeLonge, Chevelle, Coldplay (up through X&Y), Deftones, El Ten Eleven, Explosions in the Sky, Foo Fighters, Intervals, Jakob, John Mayer, Jonny Lang, Korn, Minus the Bear, Mutemath, Royal Blood, and Russian Circles.
This is the tone of the tones, this is legit the first Fractal tutorial where Ive ended up with a tone I actually really like, and not just for covering Linkin Park, but actually using for pretty much everything else. The only qualm I have is with the pitch block detune parameters, I think it sounds better with them zeroed and even better with the whole block bypassed. This tone fits surprisingly well for Architects in F# tuning too, just try it and see.
You're the ONLY guy i've seen playing One Step Closer RIGHT! To my ears, the tone of the pre-chorus isn't and shouldn't be the same as the intro tone. But hey, excellent video overall. PS: The "quad track" simulation using detune sounded huge, man
Congratulations on your work! The Dual rectifier is the sound of my childhood. Maybe I wouldn't play the guitar without hearing it. By the way, my favorite bands have already used it: avenged sevenfold, linkin park, animal as leader, bullet for my valentine, dream theater. It's a fundamental sound in the history of rock.
I'm no hardcore metal, heavy gain player but that sound is pure fire. Un f'ing real how massive that sounds! Guess I have no choice but to take that deep dive into this wall of guitars rabbit hole....
I don't know how the guys would judge this but to my ear as an long time LP fan this sounds just awesome, spot on! At the moment I'm rockung a Boss Nextone with pedals on a full stack but now I really want a Fractal unit... what would be a great speaker option for at home replace my two 4x12 though.

I know most of the audience for these videos wants some rock tones, but how about that 2000s/2010s metalcore tone…like KSE blending of 5150+Dual Rectifier. Would be cool to see how you blend two amps into one tone (not a hard panned left and right).
@@EugeneSazhin Actually i guess i did need to update the firmware. I thought it said i had the latest on my software but when i turned the unit off and on again, the actual unit itself said i had versions 22. All good now

End result is deep full and dynamically arresting sonics...both CC and Fractal Audio are absolutely ruling...Giving me 2nd thoughts about buying an RKII...just why?!
I dont understand the speaker tab in the amp menu. everywhere is eq to manipulate the sound. There is an input eq and an output eq. There is the speaker tab. And there is the speaker menu where you can change low and high cuts. I dont understand why I have to change something in the speaker tab and not somewhere else.
Tried this on a FM9. I noticed that your sound had much higher gain the second you loaded it even with stock settings! Mine had much less gain and I had to turn up the input gain and the amp gain to get a similar sound. Does the Axe FX III just sound that much better than the FM9 or is there something wrong in my settings??? The guitar was an Epiphone Les Paul Custom with Seymour Duncan pickups.
The Fm3 / Fm9 and axefx 3 are all the same when it comes to sounds/amps/effects. The only difference is power. The difference is probably your pickup output, you can compensate that by using a filter block right after your input and boosting the level to about 5 db, or whatever feels good.
