This band is considered a supergroup in that everyone is a master at their particular instrument. All of the members have other bands or solo projects also.

Yuko, the singer, is wearing a kimono. The "string table" is a Koto and I've heard it's difficult to tune, I often see two on stage so I think he changes them out depending on the song. I found this band three weeks ago and I absolutely love them. All of them are very skilled artists, Yuko for instance is trained in classical piano, Shigin and Kenshibu. Shigin is a traditional singing style of reciting Japanese poems and Kenshibu is the accompanying art of fan and sword dancing. It was Yuko's idea to form this band to revitalize interest in traditional cultural music by creating a mix of old and new. Their music has plenty of variety, everything from more traditional like "Akatsuki no Ito" to more modern songs and everything in-between. I think you would like the following two songs, they fit together and there is a video with both. Copy paste this into the search field:
    鏡花水月(Kyoukasuigetsu)+月に叫ぶ夜(Tsukini sakebuyoru)
Wagakki Band is often applauded for their great mixing, the guitarist is the one who worked on figuring out how to incorporate all of the 7 instruments together. This video is from their first tour in 2015 and I believe their more recent concerts are even better sound-wise.

Well, you are on script. Many reactors have had their mind blown reacting to this MV.
They are bigger in Japan than Babymetal!!! They play at many cultural festivals in Japan. Their purpose is to generate interest in Japanese traditional instruments and their musical culture. They have toured in the US. Hoping they will come back.

Barytone with capo. This way, the distance between 2 frets is greater when playing close to the pickups. This huge shamisen pick is incredibly expensive.

Lots of Japanese players use a 7 string guitar which I think is what that beautiful guitar is in this clip. If he just stood still long enough for me to count the strings. It is no wonder that they are the biggest band in Japan. I don't think this reactor realized they played two separate songs and it would be better to react to them as individual songs.

Love Wagakki. Eight masters in their respective instruments. They are my 2nd favorite Japanese band, well behind One OK Rock. Check them out, live, and since you mentioned it, they do sound really well off their live shows. Suggest the Yokohama concert doing Clock Strikes, Mighty Long Fall or We Are.

“Shamisen” is the name of the instrument the lady played the bada*s solo with! (The same instrument Orin in Sekiro played). Knew it’s a bit too happy sounding but appreciate your 9 horns!!! Remember you played “shakuhachi (flute)” well in the GoT gameplay, bahaha. There are footages of them collabed with Amy Lee from Evanescence, check them out when you have time!!!

Nice raction. Considering Homura (the first part) (older song of the guitarrists former project) is a bit to "happy" for you taste, try:
    ua-cam.com/video/aWlMc-pbDc8/v-deo.html 鏡花水月(Kyoukasuigetsu)+月に叫ぶ夜(Tsukini sakebuyoru) - REACT tour 2019
The first part being somewhat of a band inroduction (with a solo of the koto (table)), the second part a somewhat heavy metal song about love lost to the moon...
If you wanna se more of the koto / the traditional instuments, try:
    ua-cam.com/video/c_XmxCQAiic/v-deo.html 五芒星(Gobousei)+焔(Homura) -音ノ回廊(Otono Kairou) Tour 2018
Taiko-drum solo --> Shamisen+flute (+taiko) -> nice Koto solo -> all trad. combined. It features also another version of Homura

Wagakki Band (literally traditional Japanese instrument band). 8 members, Yuko (vocalist), Machiya (guitarist), Bene (shamisen - banjo like instrument), Wasabi (modern drums), Asa (bass), Daisuke (shakuhachi - flute like instrument), Kiyoshi (koto - harp like instrument), Kurona (traditional drums). Fantastic live performances. Yuko is a Shigin singer which is a type of sung poetry. Fantastic band, wide range of genres and styles.

The live production of the Wagakki Band concert is phenomenal.
You have to take into account that this is from 2015 and on a slightly smaller stage than what we are used to seeing them today. Wagakki Band has come a long way in the 10 years they have existed. Today they are an arena band that often play for 16k people or more.
    follows @schneider1112 with hanne's suggestion

It's Akatsuki no ito, not Akatsuki no lto. It's not a lower case L but a capital i. You're right about battle music, this is the OMV ua-cam.com/video/fcucbhJ-Orc/v-deo.html

The "string table" is called Koto, which is considered as Japan's "national instrument", then Beni's "guitar" is called shamisen.
Btw, the Koto player and the vocalist are married and have a child.
