I must say I love these longer readings from the books reviewed, you have a great voice for telling stories

Thank you for this. Been wanting to read this book ever since you first posted the review and I just finished it. Without a doubt one of the best books I've had the pleasure of reading.

Great video as usual! I also visited Père Lachaise recently. One of the stranger facts I learned while I was there relates to the tomb of Victor Noir (shown at 20:20). Notice how the crotch area is discoloured. *From wiki* "The sculpture has a very noticeable protuberance in Noir's trousers. This has made it one of the most popular memorials for women to visit in the famous cemetery. Myth says that placing a flower in the upturned top hat after kissing the statue on the lips and rubbing its genital area will enhance fertility, bring a blissful sex life, or, in some versions, a husband within the year. As a result of the legend, those particular components of the otherwise verdigris (grey-green oxidized bronze) statue are rather well-worn and shiny."

I consider this the premium channel for book reviews! Also I'm seeing a Bradley Cooper resemblance.

This channel ascended to my heart as the greatest book channel in UA-cam.
    Love every part of it
Ps.I'd be kind if you read this,if you may, please do a video on Nietzsche,Epitath of a small wiener or a few more dostoievisky. I would be pleased and thankful

This is great. Fantastic combination of images, story and review.
Re: your previous review, you said you had never read any Kerouac before Big Sur? I would recommend Dharma Bums if you're ever in the mood for more. I felt Big Sur was ROUGH, and ultimately a journal of Kerouac tortured and sick from alcohol abuse. His earlier work has a different kind of power to it. Cheers!

I have for a long time had my eye cast askance at Perec's novel. After hearing you read the story of the avenging father and husband this novel has muscled its way onto my 'read in the very near future' list. Thanks again, Cliff - you are a consistently enticing reviewer, and a good reader also, which should not - and will not by this viewer - go unacknowledged.

+Tam Vosper Thanks Mr. V - glad you're enjoying it - there's maaaaaany more stories from this novel I could just have easily read, so you have much to look forward to. It's one of the best.

Amazing review. Do you like Austrian literature? Robert Musil, Thomas Bernhard, Elfriede Jelinek - I would love to know what you think about their books.

Also...not sure if this book is available in the US, but if you can get your hand on it, definitely check out The Sufferings of Prince Sternenhoch by Ladislav Klíma. I feel it could be right up in your alley. Cheers.

Great review and footage! I loved this to death. It is the bees knees. Regarding 'the OTHER great egualizer' and i-phone thieves, I do hope there is a special roasting area of spits in Hell for these bastids and their mères as well. PATREON support is forthcoming. Must consult finance mgr. (aka my piggy bank) for possible contribution amount, but on my honor will follow through on this. Also, will order this book through Amazon through link provided to insure percentage back for BTF. These reviews are fraggin' addicting, sheeesh!

Elegant reviews #dayumson. Could I suggest Alfred Jarry's 'Ubu Roi'? or Latin America's best kept secret Severo Sarduy's 'Cobra'? (though I don't know much about the english translation, if not Lezama Lima's 'Paradiso' has a great translation). Keep it up! Greetings from Colombia.

Un migrant a probablement volé ton téléphone, ce qui est ironique avec la vision du monde que tu as l'air d'avoir.
Le style de ce livre de Perec me fait penser au style des Détectives sauvages.
Belles images du cimetière Père Lachaise.
