Honestly I wish more creators would do a set up like this. I play mostly rhythm, so when all a person does is play some lead licks, I don't get a grasp of how the pedal would work for me. Since you have both rhythm and lead tracks it's much more accessible to a wider audience. Very well done!!
I really love the clarity and sound of the Heavy, really fat and juicy yet very clear when hitting the notes in lead. and in rhythm sounds very good. In my opinion the heavy sounds the best
Ker Vernes Ya man, that's the exact sound I'm searching for. I love it so much. His chops also help quite a bit. He does quite a bit of cool little techniques in this vid
Dude watching your videos gives me such a bigger horizon of riffs i can do to implement in my songs its amazing, Thanks dude and dont stop making these videos anytime soon
I ordered the Wampler Dracarys; it's arriving today. I see a lot of love for the Empress, which I like too, but I dig the heavy sound of the Dracarys and it is $100 less at $199.99. I'm also about to buy another Jackson SLQ2 Soloist and I want to have Sweetwater install different SD pickups too before it ships so any extra $ helps...
You need to add 2 pedal to this comparison: MI Effects: Super Crunch Box v2, & Amptweaker Tight Rock / Metal Pro. I.M.O. - The Wampler Dracarys is Awesome = Dark-Distortion from Hell. I also love the Keeley Filaments.
And when your up at gig levels the harshness gets a lot more pronounced so by then I would say the filaments would be to harsh to use, the dracarys would prob suit the crowd best!!
Keeley Filaments is my favorite! The Wampler Dracarys is a close second, but they are for totally different applications. Love the video Tyler, though I would have liked to hear your opinion.
I have a Texas hot mod 800 and I love it. It has the perfect amount of drive for an 80s-like sound. It also has a boost for solos. Definitely a top 5 for distortion pedals
Over all, Empress Heavy rocked!!... I have a Dracarys, but now I want to get an Empress Heavy after watching this video.... SD Palladium is very strong contender... However, it sounded more like it is better suited for heavy rock, like Whitesnake, Dio, Judas Priest... For pure metal sound, I say Empress Heavy rocks!!!..
Excelent test. It could be better with the same solo and riff (said my wife)... Well. All they are excelent distortion pedals.. My choise: 1. Keeley Filaments. 2. Empress heavy. 3. Pinnacle (because the solo tone). 4. Xvive. 5. Pallladium. 6. Dracarys (surprised in my hank!) 7. Yellow mooer...
Yoni Hikri ...and how to put it all together to achieve such a perfect tone while recording at home? I think, he won't give us the secret ingredient 4 3 guys...
You make all of them sound awesome. The favorite to my ears was the Pinnacle. It just sounded more musical. Right on its heels were the Filaments, the Heavy, and the Palladium. The Mooer Ultra Drive followed, and in last place was the Golden Brownie. The Brownie just sounded a bit thin to me. Still, I would like any of these pedals on my pedal board.
Nice job! Superb playing as usual. I just picked up the two fairly new Strymon OD pedals, really like them. All you pedals sounded good to me but hey, I think you could make a blown speaker sound awesome!
I run a DS-1 through a Metal Muff with top boost, if you guys wanna get a good bassy but sharp wavy distortion I recommend you do it. I love the combination just one warning. LOTS AND LOTS OF FEEDBACK.
Best Rhythm = Empress Heavy. Best Lead = Keeley Filaments. Xvive Golden Brownie had an interesting gritty tone... like a modernized Creedence Clearwater Revival tone. Wampler Dracarys had a less than stellar rhythm tone, but an opposingly nice bright lead tone without too much bite. Mooer Ultra Drive MKII was like a modernized ZZ Top-like rhythm and lead tones. Wampler Pinnacle Deluxe was like the Dracarys, the lead tone was much better than the rhythm tone and sounded like a modernized KISS tone.
I Have An Empress Heavy That Has Been On My Pedal Board For 2 Years. After Seeing This Review. Hmmm? I Think I Might Just Weld It On There. All Of The Others Sounded Fine, Especially The Palladium. It Sounds Great For 80's Style Metal Too Me. That Being Said, My Empress Heavy Isn't Going Anywhere. But A Palladium Beside It Would Be All I Would Need.
overall the keeley gets it with the brightness and mids just right. The Empress was great to but a bit cold I thought the Keeley had more body and dynamics a sounded more like an overdrive than a distortion definitely a little warmer too.
Keeley Filaments (0:00 Rhythm / 0:12 Lead)
Wampler Dracarys (0:24 Rhythm / 0:31 Lead)
Seymour Duncan Palladium (0:38 Rhythm / 0:48 Lead)
Xvive Golden Brownie (0:58 Rhythm / 1:03 Lead)
Wampler Pinnacle Deluxe (1:11 Rhythm / 1:22 Lead)
Mooer Ultra Drive MKII (1:33 Rhythm / 1:42 Lead)
Empress Effects Heavy (1:51 Rhythm / 2:04 Lead)
Thanks, dude.
I hope he does this with a fuzz pedal
General Wrex get a life
That Wampler sounded delicious
The Heavy. I have it. It's a keeper.
2:15 - the best guitar technique humanity ever knew.
Also known as the " Mario Jump ".
Mihnea Sirbu ROTFL
Mihnea Sirbu also in Pantera's walk solo
aka the "dime slide"
Honestly I wish more creators would do a set up like this. I play mostly rhythm, so when all a person does is play some lead licks, I don't get a grasp of how the pedal would work for me. Since you have both rhythm and lead tracks it's much more accessible to a wider audience. Very well done!!
I hear ya. I’m exactly the same.
the wampler pinnacle deluxe gives off a great vibe and it feels natural to hear. soft yet delicately brutal when its applied
I really love the clarity and sound of the Heavy, really fat and juicy yet very clear when hitting the notes in lead. and in rhythm sounds very good. In my opinion the heavy sounds the best
That Empress Heavy was awesome. Love most of their pedals.
Empress one sounded sick. But could be the piece you played with it. Other than that, Palladium sounds perfect for prog.
Ker Vernes you mean Dream Theater
Ker Vernes
Ya man, that's the exact sound I'm searching for. I love it so much. His chops also help quite a bit. He does quite a bit of cool little techniques in this vid
I own a Heavy and I’m happy with it, but the Fillaments sounded really good!
Heavy Empress, at least for metal. Didn't expect that nice and rich sound from a pedal.
Excellent video! 1.) Heavy 2.) Golden Brownie 3.) Ultra Drive MKII 4.) Pinnacle Deluxe
Wampler Dracarys is so sick for lead. Totally gonna get that one 🤘
Dude watching your videos gives me such a bigger horizon of riffs i can do to implement in my songs its amazing, Thanks dude and dont stop making these videos anytime soon
I've been following this channel for 5-6 months n i see that tyler's guitar playing keeps on getting better n better
Either the Empress Heavy or the Palladium
The Pinnacle and Palladium for the solo sounds, for rythm though the empress might just take it.
Love my Heavy. Nice vid & riffs
Seymour Duncan Palladium. That pinched harmonic was freaking awesome!
The SD was so smooth loved it!
Filaments and empress for me
slippery hands ditto.
That Empress ruled them all...
Empress Effects Heavy really rocks
with your playing every pedal sounds amazing 🤤
XVIVE GOLDEN BROWNIE all the way through!

I like the Dracarys since it sounded darker and less harsh
trey azagathooth it’s a great pedal right out of the box. The HEAVY too.
And when your up at gig levels the harshness gets a lot more pronounced so by then I would say the filaments would be to harsh to use, the dracarys would prob suit the crowd best!!
I absolutely love my Dracarys
Palladium and Empress are sweet!
Keeley Filaments is my favorite! The Wampler Dracarys is a close second, but they are for totally different applications. Love the video Tyler, though I would have liked to hear your opinion.
Love the Palladium one, but in the end its the music choice imo
According to my guitar style I would choose the Seymour Duncan but I also think that Filaments sounds great
dude you're amazing.
no bullshit just pure review (let the sound speak) i liked the video
I have a Texas hot mod 800 and I love it. It has the perfect amount of drive for an 80s-like sound. It also has a boost for solos. Definitely a top 5 for distortion pedals
you're such a good guitarist! love watching you play and your sunday jams are killer btw!
Palladium sounds so smooth and nice holy shit. #1 by far imo ~
Empress looks tight and precise. Curious about its versatility and quality for lower gain.
Empress effects heavy!!
Empress is a blast! Period :)
I like the Empress Effects Heavy more
i personally loved the keeley filaments
Excelent test. It could be better with the same solo and riff (said my wife)... Well. All they are excelent distortion pedals.. My choise: 1. Keeley Filaments. 2. Empress heavy. 3. Pinnacle (because the solo tone). 4. Xvive. 5. Pallladium. 6. Dracarys (surprised in my hank!) 7. Yellow mooer...
Killer video, man - I really liked the Dime-inspired tap/slide move at the end.
The Pinnacle Deluxe sounded the closest to a tube head, wins for my taste. Good stuff, and impeccable playing as always bro, cheers.
I liked the Keely Filaments the best
The empress heavy sounded like an Opeth riff
could you do some kind of tutorial about pedals and amp effects? all the different settings.
I think it could make into a great video...
Yoni Hikri ...and how to put it all together to achieve such a perfect tone while recording at home? I think, he won't give us the secret ingredient 4 3 guys...
Empress Heavy, i liked how heavy yet clear it was!!
S.D. Palladium, the Keely and the Empress.
Palladium
Thank you for the side by sides and finding their best features
Wampler Pinnacle and the Filaments for heavy stuff...
Keeley Filaments!
Heavy Empress And Seymour Duncan Palladium
Keeley Filaments, Wampler Dracarys, Seymour Duncan Palladium, Empress Effects Heavy were my favs. Sound really nice and "tube-y" / "valve-ish"
Love the Pinnacle for lead
The palladium.. no words, seymour and duncan know their shit
Empress HEAVY because it's HEAVY.
Empress Effects Heavy!... Nice and heavy!... 😁...\m/
Heavy Empress 4 sure! ;)
I listened once and then watched it and to my utter surprise, the Mooer.
That Keeley sounds like what I've been looking for all my life.
Seymour Duncan for leads forsure. Now I have to go buy one, thanks alot!
Dude your freaking awesome guitar player keep doing what your doing!!!!!! 🤘🏻🤘🏻
My express comes tomorrow! Hope it sounds this good with my amp 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
Great video. If I must choose, then I choose Empress Heavy, because it has major Tweakability. 😎🤘
Dude, do the same with fuzz pedals. It would be great. I'm a stoner rocker and a fuzz junky.
As a lot of comments say, the Filaments and the Heavy were killer. Filaments had such massive roar to it while the Heavy had a sick nasty bite
that Seymour Duncan sounded amazing
You forgot to put with my hot wife in the title
Btw love u
Whoa! 1:23 is perfect Satch tone. Amazing
Nice job! Superb playing as usual. I just picked up the two fairly new Strymon OD pedals, really like them. All you pedals sounded good to me but hey, I think you could make a blown speaker sound awesome!

Palladium sounds awesome!
tyler just wanted to say ive joined youre chorse and ive greatly improved thank you lad God bless
Keeley filaments and empress effect heavy
no super badass?!?!?!?!?! wtf?? and btw, that heavy empress rocks bigtime
The first one was a winner by far IMO
The Gain Stage just sounds excellent in every review of it I've seen.. very interested in that one
im sorry to say this but..finally a distortion tone of yours that does not suck.
the pinnacle deluxe sounded quite interesting. What were these pdeals plugged in to?
Best Rhythm = Empress Heavy. Best Lead = Keeley Filaments. Xvive Golden Brownie had an interesting gritty tone... like a modernized Creedence Clearwater Revival tone. Empress hands down by a mile. Palladium a good 2nd. Filaments 3rd. Metal shaman blows em all out of the water 😋
the Seymour Duncan and the Xvive are the Best of them in my opinion
The Empress Effects Heavy
New video shootout , same music and settings for blues, rock and metal for every pedal!
Wampler and empress for sure!
The Keeley Filaments one has a very crunchy lead tone...
Empress has more knobs than my flat
Great playing!
Filaments, Empress and Palladium
overall the keeley gets it with the brightness and mids just right. The Empress was great to but a bit cold I thought the Keeley had more body and dynamics a sounded more like an overdrive than a distortion definitely a little warmer too.
I like my pedals to be named in high valyrian. That's a real selling point for me!
Friedman BE-OD wins.
imo, Filaments kicks ass over all of them. Palladium comes in #2.
Rhythm = Empress
Solo = Pinnacle
Now do a battle of the Air Guitars!
duuuudeeee what a nice video love when you make those videos
Empress for rhythm and Filaments for lead
Empress Heavy sounds the most amp-like! 😎
