Oh my goodness! I recently found an photo of a Japanese mountainous landscape that has the appearance of a monochromatic watercolor in blue-grays. I was planning on using it as inspiration. So happy I found your channel!
I am a bit confused ! The paint you mixed and applied looks very diluted like watercolor which means that it contains a lot of water. However, if you use water more than 20% in acrylics, it is going to create problems as the acrylic binder get too diluted to hold the pigments to the painting surface ! Were you using watercolor instead ?
Hello, thank you for your very interesting question! Yes! you are correct in what you are saying to some degree - however, this applies when painting onto canvas with acrylics since the binder holds the paint onto the surface. Because I am painting on paper the fibres of the paper hold the paint so it does not matter if the binder is highly diluted. The paint will still adhere. So yes, I am painting with acrylics and using them almost like watercolor on paper. There are some small differences in the way the two different types of paints behave of corse, maybe a good subject for another video. Thank you!
Love it, I look forward to seeing more from you.
