Hi guys , another great video. You give a great insight into Turkey. The Turkish people are so nice and helpful. Ersel is an absolute legend. Every country needs an Ersel to promote how lovely the people and their country are and he does it for friendship only . It would have been a nightmare sorting the insurance out yourselves!! What a guy 😊👏 Now you have more people showing you places too. Great country.
We are so grateful to Ersel for adopting us when we were in the carpark during the original Lockdown days .... Turkey has been the best place for us to go through the global pandemic and know that Turkey will always be part of our lives
I wanted to wish you both a very Happy New year! May you remain a source of positivity and inspiration, an exemple of openmindedness and free spirits, May the borders open to you more in 2021, and most of all, May you remain healthy and so full of good energy!!
Thank you Annabel and Happy New Year to you and yours too !! we will keep going and hope that 2021 will be opening up for everyone and send love and light your way xx
Oh my God!!! We do exactly the same when in Turkey...eat eat & eat. Thank you so much.We are home (London)since March due to covid & so happy to follow you in these really challenging times.
Amazing! and Turkey will be waiting for you once travel becomes a thing again !! woo hoo best wishes and looking forward to a much better 2021 for everyone
5:58 Bravo Chris :-))) usually most foreigners don't like "Kokorec" and I understand them!. you are really brave man my friend:-)) have a nice day and wishing you a healthy and happy new year again.
Mate love to be in yr position so jealous right now it’s summer here in Sydney but I miss Turkey. It’s is so beautiful with every city has it’s own beauty. Because of the covid our plans on coming to Turkey was canceled but soon as the pandemic is over will be there.
In Lebanon we stuffed rice ,mincemeat, and pine nuts in that..and on the same pot , grapeleaves stuffed with rice, mincemeat and hint of lime 🤦♂️mama mia😁
Eww I’m in Marianne’s team on this one- I’d rather starve than eat kokoreç! Very brave Chris. However that dessert sounded and looked to die for 👌 looking forward to more of your travels xxx stay safe
chris and marianne. you are so sweet. how long do you plan to stay in our country. we loved you so much, i hope you will stay in our country for many more years.
It is difficult indeed ... with covid and distance to cover ... if we stay longer we will miss more places ... but we hope that we have shown and inspired people to travel and visit places that they would not normally - kind regards Marianne
@@TREADtheglobe Please try a more purist version (only with salt and cumin). For many (including me), adding tomato or peppers to kokorec is blasphemous, also using anything but charcoal grill to cook it at any stage of the preparation of kokorec, such as hotplate is absolutely unacceptable. Hotplates, pans ruins the flavour profile of kokorec. Please make sure that you eat them in best places because when it is made good it is addictive but when it is made bad it is tastes horrendous. So please try salt and cumin version that is only cooked on charcoal fire in a good "kokoretci" (kokorec maker).
eat mild or not hot and with no tomatoes to taste it..and ask for cooked well like all crunchy....quarter order is best and check google reviews. motto is great btw...tıkıntı in izmit is great too. but city is boring dead.
He is one of the kindest people and the most outwardly thoughtful person - he is so unselfish and caring - the perfect friend !! Woo Hoo - we love Ersel
come again after whole pandemic settle down, see the difference with your own eyes. you cant even walk properly on the padestrian street from harbor to bus terminal. man i miss bodrum :/
You eat that strong smelling fatty bacon and get put off by the texture of Kokoreç? You can’t be serious !.But you must definitely try it at “Şampiyon” in İstiklal caddesi in istanbul. You’ll see that it will be uncompareable to the others you try anywhere else.
When I first came to live in Turkey in 2003, at the end of my street was a man who had an old clapped out van and on Friday and Saturday night would have an old gas stove and a plastic picnic table and would cook kokoreç. Me and my wife would buy once a week and chat to him, a really nice man who sold it to pay for his children's education. His little kokerec enterprise grew and grew.. He now owns a 150 seater kokerec restaurant which is packed (pre-pandemic). He's still a lovely man and I'm so so happy for him.
We love trying new foods and experiencing local cultures - some foods are easier to eat that others - I have to be honest we did put this one off for a while . Let us know if you like the food videos then we can try and plan some more. Have you eaten some strange foods - let us know in the comments below. Chris x
The most mistake you've done in Turkey series is YOU DIDN"T REPORT or REVIEW THE LOCAL FOOD IN DETAILS w/ PRICES which should be essential to any traveler around the world... Anyhow , HAPPY NEW YEAR 2021 Chris and Marianne ...
Love the food videos!! Interesting for people who haven’t had the food before and for those of us who have, makes us relive the memory! How nice that the waiter man in the restaurant said “the aubergine is a gift from me” ... how kind ! 💖
I'm a bit like Marianne... I would easily go skinny dipping in a freezing water or fly hanging from a kite than eat stuff that grosses me out just from the description... this said I have eaten some caterpillars and ants in Mexico and some mutton foot soles in Tunisia... but it wasn't a good memory!
What a beautiful place!! Thanks i found your channel,i feel like travelling and exploring with you from now on,looking forward for more adventure, love from Philippines, stay safe.
I don't like the texture as well even if i ate Kokoreç dozens of times therefore while ordering i always say ''İyice kızart'' which means ''Grill it well'' so it all becomes crunchy and both it's taste and experience becomes so much better!! I would definitely recommend ordering it again but this time asking them to grill it well as it is whole another world!! But for a bizarre reason most Kokoreç restaurants aren't doing it if you don't specifically ask for. Also this is sheep intestine which were 3-12 months old so even their intestine is quite safe to eat, in fact it is far safer than pork :))
@@MalteseKat How dangerous meat is depends on animal's diet and age such as carnivorous animals like wolves for example would have extremely high amount of parasites and bacteria in their meat which is why we don't eat carnivorous animals. While a 3-12 months old sheep is both very young and their diet is much cleaner, for example some sheeps would be raised by only their mother's milk which is called milk lamb and it is even more safer. Traditionally only milk lamb is used for Kokoreç but ofc i can guarantee every Kokoreç restaurant will follow this tradition but they are between 3-12 months old for sure and it is still far safer meat than pork. Because pigs are omnivore animals which would eat pretty much everything including even rotten things and waste while a sheep would only eat vegetation. Most people think in Turkey we don't eat pork because we are Muslims but it isn't completely correct as we weren't eating pork before becoming Muslims neither as we were Nomadic people and traditionally kept raising only sheep and goat.
I'm travelling around the Bodrum area as well and it's been amazing, but now I am inspired to eat this magnolia taze (still haven't tried kokorec though, but will see... 😬)
Brilliant Vlog guys, the food looks lovely, trouble is it always makes me hungry. Can't wait for next Vlog, enjoy life and thanks for letting us come along with you both. 😎👌🚐 xx
Another great episode you guys never fail to deliver!! I’m a bit like Marianne with food sometimes I’m best off not knowing what I’m eating then I’ll try it. I don’t like palican then my SIL made something with it and I ate as I didn’t know what it was. Can’t wait to see the Dalyan content in a few weeks
Glad you enjoyed the Bodrum peninsular. It’s such a great view leaving the harbour both in Bodrum and Yalikavak. We have a cig kofte/tantuni place about 10mins from my house, I love it. I too love a crispy kokerec. Have fun and stay safe
Meals prepared in restaurants and those made in village houses may be different.Keskek is a famous traditional Turkish dish made by boiling meat and wheat in a cauldron. It is a nomadic dish.Again, "höşmerim" is a famous Turkish dessert made from cheese.Datça is an old nomad city.

Not had Kokorec but will be sure to try it at some point. If you get a chance try Tavuk Gooslu it is a chicken and rice dish, Bodrum is a beautiful town. Looking forward to the new adventures. Happy new year. Take care 💙❤️👍
