Khabib was side stepped twice for the belt. Once by eddie alvarez, then conor. Conor held the belt for two years without defending the belt. This is the start of khabib speaking out.

Khabib despite beating far more opponents would never get the chance to fight for the title because he just didn't bring in as many viewers as the others. So Khabib knew what he had to do, after 2 years of being pushed aside, he called out the most popular fighter and insulted the entirety of ireland because he knew this would bring up hatred and allow for a title fight for him against mcgregor. It worked, khabib vs mcgregor is still one of the most watched fights in history.
Think context matters in terms of opponents. Yes he beat more guys but the overall quality was terrible. Khabib opponents record when fighting him were 161-131-3. He wasn’t sidestepped, he just wasn’t qualified for the belt, in addition, he wasn’t exciting

Conor called Khabibs wife names on social media. He’s lucky Khabib is honorable.Dillon Danis was in Conor’s corner running his mouth too. FAFO….you don’t get into family, kids, etc.,off limits full stop. Meanwhile Conor did that with Dustin Poirier next….and Dustin beat his ass, fought him a third time and broke Conor’s leg. He was a great fighter but Father Time is still undefeated.✅😊
