I had the pleasure of meeting this legendary man back in Gary Indiana in the early 1970s when he offered to take me and my brother Michael Tolbert on the road with him because we were very young up and coming blues gtr players at the time, we were like 12 & 13 years old , but my Pops said no of course but I will be forever GRATEFUL to this legendary man for believing in us and making us such a GREAT OFFER THAT we UNFORTUNATELY could not take advantage of , THANK U SIR for believing in us young boys !! P S We lived in Dorie Miller housing projects at that time around 1971 .
Dang, I lost track of how many times and places I went to go see these guys-The Mines, BLUES, Blues Etc. Shades, It’s sad most are all gone now. The rhythm on this sounds like Ron Prince was playing with them. That was really the tightest version of this band. Don and Ron were a brutal combination. I used to walk out with my mouth hanging open. Good times. Great memories. Saw them last year at Rosas. Hopefully we can all get back there soon.
Brings back sweet priceless memories. It was an honor to provide Big Daddy Kinsey, the sound system and engineering during the 1980’s era, concert’s, located in Gary, Indiana.
I saw him with his son's at WILBERT'S in Cleveland in the mid-90's. Shared a table with Robert Lockwood Jr and some of the Kinsey family that night. A memory that will stay with me and my friends I was there with that night forever. Outstanding showman Big Daddy was !!! Thanks for posting this !!!
Big Daddy could wail vocals and harp.... but the best thing he ever made was his son Donald, one of the best guitar players ever IMHO....check out Edge of the City by the Kinsey Report or listen to any Bob Marley with Donald on guitar!

In very loving memory of Mr. Lester "Big Daddy" Kinsey Jr. (1927 - 2001 R.I.P. Gone but NOT forgotten).

I saw Big Daddy and The Kinsey Report at Leroy's in Porter Indiana in the 90's...awesome American music!
Saw them at the Grand Emporium in KC about the same time.
Thank you so much for introducing me to these WONDERFUL musicians.
Big Daddy was great. When he sang Mannish Boy you could close your eyes and swear it was Muddy Waters. Big Daddy was the real deal!
Thanks man! Without European fans, the blues would be dead.

GRANDE BLUES
That's one BAAAAD Man! Gary Indiana Blue's
wow
thank you
Si estoy en lo correcto, el armonicista podría ser Lester "Mad Dog" Davenport. Creo que el tocaba con The Kinsey Report en los años ochenta.
Was that James Jones (Middle Walter) playing harp on the first part of the vid playing with the band?
