Wait, I thought using D2S on D1S ballast were not intercheangeable. D2S ballast has a 55w output, right?. Then, I thought the D1S has a 35w output, am I wrong?
D1S and D2S are not interchangeable. The pre-facelift W164 uses D2S bulbs in its bi-xenon headlights. As far as I know after 2008 model year Mercedes moved to D1S for the W164.
@@EndlessMotorWorks I meant to say, I thought the DS1 and DS2 lightbulbs were not interchangeable. I wrote ballasts on my previous message. Sorry. I have a 2012 with "intelligent lighting" -whatever that means- and it seems like the light output is too low. They don't seem to be as bright as the one's seen on Toyotas, Subarus, or even some Ford models. I am thinking about replacing the ballasts, and lightbulbs for aftermarket HID with 55w. I have used them in my other Mercs but, this model came with this "Special Lights" and I have no idea if it will affect functionality. We'll see 🤷🏽🤷🏽🤷🏽🤷🏽
All pre-facelift W164 and X164 with xenon headlights use the same type of bulb. www.amazon.de/Breaker-Generation-Brightness-Headlight-66240XNN-HCB/dp/B0BBNDS5KR/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?crid=H4VR3P77E71J&keywords=d2s+osram&qid=1696778769&sprefix=d2s+osram%2Caps%2C84&sr=8-1-spons&sp_csd=d2lkZ2V0TmFtZT1zcF9hdGY&psc=1
@@EndlessMotorWorks I cant find new or used lenses to buy and be sure that its good lenses. My biggest fear is removing the glass from the headlight, but i will have to do it anyway. Tnx for your reply.

Two possible solutions. Replace the lenses or have the existing ones polished.
