First, since I don't want you to feel like I didn't notice or appreciate it, that was a *fine* performance. I believed in the character, and at no point did I feel like your delivery was inconsistent with who she was. Second, the character development here was Really, Really Important: if the self-effacing maid were all she was, then this marriage would be an Utterly Terrible Idea. Instead, we learn two arguably equally important things about her. First, we confirm that the self-effacing bit is a learned behavior; her instant flip to being assertive (and comfortably so!) about how she wants to be proposed to gives me much more hope about their eventual dynamic. Second, we learn that as a child she was creative, focused, and detail-oriented. I think once she gets her feet under her, she will absolutely be able to keep up with him.
Best promotion in the history of promotions, probably ever. She gets to be with a husband who loves her like his own self. Who is willing to give up everything in order to be with her. He is willing to be seen as a fool in order to serve his wife before himself. Is that not the definition of love? ❤
