  • I am SO SO proud of Zena & Zeus!! Last night they did their first solo performance without the mustangs and they completely rocked it! Even with a stadium packed full of 3,700 people they stayed connected and didn't leave me once! Looking back 2 years ago when I brought Zena home and it would take me 2 hours to catch her or 1 year ago when I asked Zeus to back up for the first time and he wanted to strike and climb on top of me NONE of this seemed possible... But with patience, dedication, trust, and communication it all came together..
I hope to use such performances as a way to inspire younger generations to care for our wildlife. Jane Goodall once said, "Only if we understand, we care. Only if we care we will help. Only if we help they shall be saved." I hope these performances inspire care in our younger generations. I also hope to demonstrate that anything is possible when you seek to understand those different from yourself..
As you watch this video please recognize that above all zebras are WILD animals and can be very dangerous- I would never condone zebras as pets. Also please note I NEVER use forceful techniques with these animals to get them to perform. I set clear boundaries when needed (as in any healthy relationship) and utilize R+ techniques to make this really enjoyable for them. These animals are performing by their own free will at liberty in a large arena. They are never forced to be with me and always have an exit. Also please note that getting two zebras to get along is also a project! Zeus can get quite sassy to Zena with his ears especially but I never allow him to follow through on his "bluffs" when they are with me to create this time as a place of comfort and security with me. Both Zena and Zeus live happily on several acres of pasture coming in and out of the barn as they wish. I would give anything to these animals and they are my family.

FANTASTIC ...love your process, you're about the natural (horribly overused word) way of "it". Thanks for the inspiration!

Mules they recon are more difficult than horses.
    Zebra more diffulcult still.
Heard also the way to train the horse is defined in the method used on a mule.
So we seeing here some immaculate communication between spicies many trainers would just not attempt.
A step further would be having them harnessed to carriage on some involved and trying event course.
I sèe " the old world" photo referance of 6 zebra team pulling a victorian coach in times long gone around Hyde Park London as the ultimate in class & style.
PARIS would probably be the pier peek of sheek then for that spectacle only avaiable forthe rich an famouse.
America is recorded having a wonder horseman named Rarey who could tame viciouse blood horeses who had actualy killed thier jockey and some grooms.
