Years ago I called in a small plane sputtering, back firing, and cutting out flying over our farm it was getting dark fast with a storm coming in. The adjacent farm had been considered years ago for a airfield so I thought for sure thats where he was going to land. I gave my location to the local authorities and I guess the pilot was trying to circle back to that farm but didn't make it, turned out to be our state politician, no one survived. Eerie feeling

I was thinking the same thing.. it may be referring to those shot down during the Pearl Harbor attack.. or, planes shot down over overseas territories in the Pacific. As for the continental US? I'd be interested to learn
