Muslims in the US integrate better because the barrier to entry is much higher. Contrast immigrants from the ME to illegal immigrants from Mexico - one group commits significantly more crime. Europe just has too many refugees and the immigration laws are too loose, you need to select for the type of people you allow in. It's really difficult to integrate someone who's values run completely opposite to your nation, I don't know that we do it better in the US, we just have a better selection process.

Except the culture of these immigrants is pretty similar to the religious right of most European countries, so I'd say they're assimilating quite well, except we'd rather they assimilate to have values aligned away from one half of the population and to the other half.

Right. I live far away from a major city and the no-go-zones and migrants here still only speak their own langugage and refuse to integrate. I recently took care of a migrant trainee at my work. He had lived here for 20+ years and could not converse in my language AT ALL. It's not just the people in ghettos. It's everywhere.

One way to illustrate this is the representation in congress. In the US 25% of the congress are non white minorities while the population consists of 41% non whites. That's a ratio of about 61%. In Germany the representation is about 11% while the population is made up of 26% minorities. That's a ratio of 42%. Immigrating to the US is associated with higher costs and a bigger risk to get rejected. This process sifts out a lot of people, potentially a lot of immigrants who come from lower socio economic backgrounds in their own country. Taking Germany as an example, for turkish people it was quite easy to immigrate to Germany as they were invided as "guest workers" some time ago. This created subcultures in Germany in which turkish people where never really integrated into the society; they were supposed to work and go back to Turkey. But they didn't. The ties to their home country, as for many other minorities, are also pretty close. Turkish people in Germany will often times have turkish passports, will be involved with the politics in their home country and never really develop a sense of being german. If you ask a turkish person what nationality he is, he will most likely say turkish. Also immigrants from poorer EU countries have almost no hurdle moving to Germany since citizens of EU countries have the right to live and work in any EU country. This will naturally lead to more inflow of low skill workers who have no real incentive to integrate. They can just move here and earn twice to three times as much for the same work as they would get in their own country. The last thing is the German schooling system. We have different "levels" of high schools, which is a remnant of the Weimar Republic and the Nazi regime. Generally there are three forms that are hierarchical in nature. Hauptschule is for the preparation of low skill workers, Realschule for the bulk of the work force and Gymansium for high skill workers such as lawyers and physicians. The extreme rigidity of the system has changed since then with the introduction of schooling forms that unite the other forms but it is still active snd shapes Germany's demographics. Immigrants are much more likely to go to one of the lower forms of schools which will then keep them out of certain circles and contributes to the development and perseverance of subcultures. So i'd say Destiny's hunch is correct. Geography, Immigration policy and the education system are certainly the biggest contributors to this phenomenon.

The problem is that 1st generation migrants in Europe are usually okay, or it was pre around 2015 ish. But their kids grow up to be more radicalized somehow. I’ve lived in Spain and the average person has a better life imo however the way things are set up even without immigration these systems are failing. The incentive structure to make a lot of money is much lower and more difficult in Europe . I could be wrong but the Syrian war and Libya are the straws that broke the camels back to turn the average European to anti immigration . We have pretty strict guidelines and in the past tend to make sure legal immigrates actually want to assimilate (Not sure if it's still the same now). Illegal immigration is a whole different issue though definitely a problem. But than again I guess we kind of are making illegal immigration legal to a certain extent in the past few years so maybe you do have a point.

First of all most European countries don't have a 2-party system but rather several parties occupying the political spectrum and most governments are coalition governments. Thus by definition the polarization isn't as bad as in the US or nothing would work ever.

What is the difference between coalitions of progressive democrats, blue dog democrats, and all the other sub groups between the Democratic party and having multiple smaller parties that still have to form coalitions with each other to pass legislation? I truly don't see the difference. We DO have multiple parties in the US, they're just all within the Democratic and Republican big tent parties that contain those same "multiple parties" within them. If the Progressive Democrats and the Blue Dog Democrats were two different parties, would it make a difference at all? I honestly don't think so.

If you got multiple parties and a majority has to be formed, you need those parties to reach a consensus to attain 50%. This can change very quickly, so sometimes you have the green parties forming a coalition with lefties, and sometimes you get bigger coalitions with the economic parties, and sometimes one party reaches 50% votes on their own. = More diversity, more incentive for cooperation. In the US, you got all that "simplified" into two parties where the struggles are all internal without much say from outside i.e. citizens. All the citizens have to do then is to vote between donkey and elephant then. Simpler, but less democratic and more confrontational.

I can speak about UK as my parents are muslim indian immigrants and they came in in the 70s and 80s and were super minorities and had to adjust. It eas super racist and anti tjem when they first came, but they worked with different communities got engaged with the local communities and really helped make the place better and help foster ethnic relations improving. We didnt have any enclave groups to essentially assimilate with. Pakistani and Bangladeshis were very different to us and so you had to connect with everyone. Thats the pro. The con was that it was intensely lonely to adjust in this way Over time as you see more Pakistani and Bangladeshi (im talking about tje communities im familiar with ) their level of integration was different. People when moving to a nrw country tend to congregate to where the ethnic centers are Also in the past when uk was rebuilding its economy they had signs openly begging Pakistani indian and bangladeshi minorities to come over and work in the factories and so on As we moved away from a manufscturing economy to a services one, what happened was that youd have the first gen Pakistani bangladeshi and indians opening up restaurants and taxi companies and then having their kids education as doctors and accountants and businessmen and so on But also because you had people from poor areas of india pakistan, Pakistan occupied kashmirr and bangladesh also coming over to marry you end up getting some ciltural development resets due to the old thinking returning Particularly for the pakistani, pashtun and kashmir community their insistence on just havinf cousin marriage constantly for property and immigration related reasons caused so much issues within those communities Both genetic but also in terms of people unhappily married and so on Its all improving the generations now are better than before but still its an issue So you have people who naturally find it easier to congregate to tjat which is familiar and that marry or are pressured to marry from their homeland and bring people over This factor causes unhappy relationships cultural resets and so on But crucial to think about is that this is not the case everywhere in yhe uk and the north south divide play a big factor If youre in the north (or say Blackpool north west) you have to somehow try and get on with youe neighbours and integrate because the poverty is there still tje racism is there still, you cant really enclave In birmingham its a tale of two cities and theres pros and cons to enclaveisation So it's very complicated and not as simple as just immigrant bad grommers etc

Destiny is right about most of Europe but is completely wrong about London. I grew up and spent over 20 years in London and have lived in the states. London to me is one of the best melting pots in the world and I have friends of many races and religions that feel safe and work here. Many are or have parents that were immigrants that work and integrated easily. I can't speak for all of the UK but London does not have an immigration problem.

If anything the local values aren't being pushed on enough, because we've had our own kind of wokeness saying France was alla bout colonisation and nazi collaboration. No that’s just not correct, French people from our former colonies are treated either just normal, if they are integrated, or they belong to poor suburbs in which case hundreds of millions have been sunk into these area, at a much higher rate than any white suburb of similar wealth level. It’s just false to say they’re treated worse, at least if you’re saying that the worse treatment comes from them coming from former colonies instead of from them objectively doing more crimes and whatnot than the average population.
The sheer fact that you think of Europe as a general area that could be compared to US is ignorant in itself. There are massive differences in approaches to how society should be ran between european countries. Each of them have pretty unique challenges ahead of them.
Destiny is right but also wrong on the immigrants creating an enclave. Theres a relevant example to this in the uk and it's where im from. When the first immigrants came and settled, they were spread out and weren't concentrated. But what happened through a combination of 1) when immigrants started buying homes the white neighbours would move since the property would drop in value and would create a domino effect of prices falling further and a cycle is established + racism 2) in the 70s-90s, white people openly targetted and beat immigrants, theres a famous term 'paki bashing' which is the result of it and the NF group and later EDL were formed. This caused a repsonse of immigrant groups that'd go for people of the NF and EDL, which is some of the more established non-white gangs origin. 3) convenience for daily stuff since there is religious restrictions on food, etc. 4) the reoccuring anger/ open hatred/ islamphobia displayed by people / uk media after any terror attack involving a muslim. Equivalent is US media talking softly of white mass shooters excusing their actions with mental disturbance/ lone wolf vs immediately calling a brown mass shooter a terrorist and not seperating the perpetrator from the group he's from resulting in attacks on that group. Imagine that x10. 5) easier to live in a commounity that you are familiar with/ can communicate with, especially since up until 6-8yrs ago it was somewhat common to hear of new stories of people arguing with someone for not speaking english, now you just get stares. 6) another thing is that there is that thing of they're no longer open with it but there's still racism/ignorance. If i go out of bradford, i get stares and you can feel the difference between being the unknown to someone vs animosity/hatred. 7) a lot of the local 'culture' revolves around drinking, partying, drugs, etc so theres not a lot of compatibility there although there are people who do partake in it from a immigrant background, theyre not open about it. Muslims in the US integrate better because the barrier to entry is much higher. Contrast immigrants from the ME to illegal immigrants from Mexico - one group commits significantly more crime. Europe just has too many refugees and the immigration laws are too loose, you need to select for the type of people you allow in. It's really difficult to integrate someone who's values run completely opposite to your nation, I don't know that we do it better in the US, we just have a better selection process.

One way to illustrate this is the representation in congress. In the US 25% of the congress are non white minorities while the population consists of 41% non whites. That's a ratio of about 61%. In Germany the representation is about 11% while the population is made up of 26% minorities. That's a ratio of 42%.
Immigrating to the US is associated with higher costs and a bigger risk to get rejected. This process sifts out a lot of people, potentially a lot of immigrants who come from lower socio economic backgrounds in their own country. Taking Germany as an example, for turkish people it was quite easy to immigrate to Germany as they were invided as "guest workers" some time ago. This created subcultures in Germany in which turkish people where never really integrated into the society; they were supposed to work and go back to Turkey. But they didn't. The ties to their home country, as for many other minorities, are also pretty close. Turkish people in Germany will often times have turkish passports, will be involved with the politics in their home country and never really develop a sense of being german. If you ask a turkish person what nationality he is, he will most likely say turkish.
Also immigrants from poorer EU countries have almost no hurdle moving to Germany since citizens of EU countries have the right to live and work in any EU country. This will naturally lead to more inflow of low skill workers who have no real incentive to integrate. They can just move here and earn twice to three times as much for the same work as they would get in their own country.
The last thing is the German schooling system. We have different "levels" of high schools, which is a remnant of the Weimar Republic and the Nazi regime. Generally there are three forms that are hierarchical in nature. Hauptschule is for the preparation of low skill workers, Realschule for the bulk of the work force and Gymansium for high skill workers such as lawyers and physicians. The extreme rigidity of the system has changed since then with the introduction of schooling forms that unite the other forms but it is still active snd shapes Germany's demographics. Immigrants are much more likely to go to one of the lower forms of schools which will then keep them out of certain circles and contributes to the development and perseverance of subcultures.
So i'd say Destiny's hunch is correct. Geography, Immigration policy and the education system are certainly the biggest contributors to this phenomenon.

Legally Deporting immigrants has become harder & harder in Belgium because they appeal to human rights courts even if they’ve overstayed their Visa. Also the fact that people have died in process of being forcefully deported while in police custody. “ Raids” in certain neighborhoods to check people’s identity cards & residence status has also been considered a form of “violation”, like the stop n search which is usually done around metro stations

We have pretty strict guidelines and in the past tend to make sure legal immigrates actually want to assimilate (Not sure if it's still the same now).

First of all most European countries don't have a 2-party system but rather several parties occupying the political spectrum and most governments are coalition governments. Thus by definition the polarization isn't as bad as in the US or nothing would work ever.

What is the difference between coalitions of progressive democrats, blue dog democrats, and all the other sub groups between the Democratic party and having multiple smaller parties that still have to form coalitions with each other to pass legislation? I truly don't see the difference. We DO have multiple parties in the US, they're just all within the Democratic and Republican big tent parties that contain those same "multiple parties" within them. If the Progressive Democrats and the Blue Dog Democrats were two different parties, would it make a difference at all? I honestly don't think so.

If you got multiple parties and a majority has to be formed, you need those parties to reach a consensus to attain 50%. This can change very quickly, so sometimes you have the green parties forming a coalition with lefties, and sometimes you get bigger coalitions with the economic parties, and sometimes one party reaches 50% votes on their own. = More diversity, more incentive for cooperation.
In the US, you got all that "simplified" into two parties where the struggles are all internal without much say from outside i.e. citizens. All the citizens have to do then is to vote between donkey and elephant then. Simpler, but less democratic and more confrontational.

Maybe you're not American so you just don't get it and think the Democrats are all just one party that all believe in the same things, but that's just not true. It's not just voting between an elephant and donkey. The specific candidates matter and people understand this. Do you seriously think there's no difference between AOC and Manchin? Both are democrats but one is a progressive and the other is more conservative. Both of them sometimes vote together and sometimes they vote against each other depending on the issue, it doesn't matter that they're both democrats. Under a multi-party system these two (AOC and Manchin) would be two different parties but my point is they sort of already sort of are since they're not forced to vote for what other members of the party do.
I can speak about UK as my parents are muslim indian immigrants and they came in in the 70s and 80s and were super minorities and had to adjust. It eas super racist and anti tjem when they first came, but they worked with different communities got engaged with the local communities and really helped make the place better and help foster ethnic relations improving. We didnt have any enclave groups to essentially assimilate with. Pakistani and Bangladeshis were very different to us and so you had to connect with everyone.
Thats the pro. The con was that it was intensely lonely to adjust in this way
Over time as you see more Pakistani and Bangladeshi (im talking about tje communities im familiar with ) their level of integration was different. People when moving to a nrw country tend to congregate to where the ethnic centers are
Also in the past when uk was rebuilding its economy they had signs openly begging Pakistani indian and bangladeshi minorities to come over and work in the factories and so on
As we moved away from a manufscturing economy to a services one, what happened was that youd have the first gen Pakistani bangladeshi and indians opening up restaurants and taxi companies and then having their kids education as doctors and accountants and businessmen and so on
But also because you had people from poor areas of india pakistan, Pakistan occupied kashmirr and bangladesh also coming over to marry you end up getting some ciltural development resets due to the old thinking returning
Particularly for the pakistani, pashtun and kashmir community their insistence on just havinf cousin marriage constantly for property and immigration related reasons caused so much issues within those communities

Destiny is right about most of Europe but is completely wrong about London. I grew up and spent over 20 years in London and have lived in the states. London to me is one of the best melting pots in the world and I have friends of many races and religions that feel safe and work here. Many are or have parents that were immigrants that work and integrated easily. I can't speak for all of the UK but London does not have an immigration problem.

If anything the local values aren't being pushed on enough, because we've had our own kind of wokeness saying France was alla bout colonisation and nazi collaboration. So when children of immigrants grow up and want to find an identity to latch on to, they turn more towards identities that reject france, be it the country of origin of their ancestors, islam, or criminal culture.
Add to that the fact that new medias make it very easy to stay connected to other cultures and voilà

No that’s just not correct, French people from our former colonies are treated either just normal, if they are integrated, or they belong to poor suburbs in which case hundreds of millions have been sunk into these area, at a much higher rate than any white suburb of similar wealth level. It’s just false to say they’re treated worse, at least if you’re saying that the worse treatment comes from them coming from former colonies instead of from them objectively doing more crimes and whatnot than the average population.

Theres a relevant example to this in the uk and it's where im from. When the first immigrants came and settled, they were spread out and weren't concentrated. But what happened through a combination of
1) when immigrants started buying homes the white neighbours would move since the property would drop in value and would create a domino effect of prices falling further and a cycle is established + racism
2) in the 70s-90s, white people openly targetted and beat immigrants, theres a famous term 'paki bashing' which is the result of it and the NF group and later EDL were formed. This caused a repsonse of immigrant groups that'd go for people of the NF and EDL, which is some of the more established non-white gangs origin.
3) convenience for daily stuff since there is religious restrictions on food, etc.
4) the reoccuring anger/ open hatred/ islamphobia displayed by people / uk media after any terror attack involving a muslim.
Equivalent is US media talking softly of white mass shooters excusing their actions with mental disturbance/ lone wolf vs immediately calling a brown mass shooter a terrorist and not seperating the perpetrator from the group he's from resulting in attacks on that group. Imagine that x10.
5) easier to live in a commounity that you are familiar with/ can communicate with, especially since up until 6-8yrs ago it was somewhat common to hear of new stories of people arguing with someone for not speaking english, now you just get stares.
6) another thing is that there is that thing of they're no longer open with it but there's still racism/ignorance. If i go out of bradford, i get stares and you can feel the difference between being the unknown to someone vs animosity/hatred.
7) a lot of the local 'culture' revolves around drinking, partying, drugs, etc so theres not a lot of compatibility there although there are people who do partake in it from a immigrant background, theyre not open about it. And coming back to it, there's still the occurence of brown people going to a majority white gym/salon/anything really and overtime the white customers go elsewhere

The policeman who shot Nahel Merzouk claimed that the kid tried to run him over, and the officer therefore acted in self defense. However, a video documenting the incident shows that the policeman stood next to the car, when Merzouk sped away. The cop wasn't at risk of being run over.
