"..I'll be able to stay with everyone. With you." (long romantic stare) That heavily suggests they are in love. He is protective of Estelle, but who keeps bringing up the whole sibling deal? Do they actually have to come out and say it before you believe it?
I feel like this game was the least focused on romance out of all of them. I still ship Yuri and Estelle the most, but I can't deny that Yuri and Judith have good chemistry
@Temptest09 Their flirting was meant to be playful at best. Yuri acknowledges that Judith is hot and Judith liked to tease him. That's all. They never connected on a deep emotional level like Yuri and Estelle have. And Yuri asking Estelle to do what she wants is him respecting her wishes and wanting her to be independent. He was being supportive of her and trying to help her grow, not by encroaching her decisions with his own wants, but by letting her make her own choices.
I agree with you. Indirect or silent confessions are often the kind of confessions/romance I like, I mostly say a direct confession would've been better because then we wouldn't have the whole problem of "They're siblings!", "They're friends!", "No, blind people, they love each other!".
@ch0cochipCookie I know its a year comment. But thats what I loved about Vesperia. Their relationship, to me, its obvious they're in love, but its never forced its naturally there. Fits well.
@Chrno34 Definitely. It's good that they didn't lay on the romance too thickly. People who like Yuri/Estelle would've felt the emotional intensity of the scene and people who don't like them together are able to make their own judgment that it was a good character development scene (and not necessarily hinting of romance).
And I don't see why you perceive it as brother and sister just because Yuri tries to help and support Estelle. Part of being in relationship is encouragement, support and helping one another grow; not meaningless flirtation that doesn't go anywhere.
no there are hints, shit tones, there more for estelle towards yuri but the game went out of its way to show that yuri cared more about estelle than anyone else. but like every tales of pairing(save lloyd and collete, stahn x ruhtee and asbela nd cheria) they are left at a maybe ever after
@KlineStife that will happen regardless, besides the kinda do get together in the end of this game anyhow, they dont need to say the words i love you out loud for them to show they have feelings for eachother, his scene is a love confession in disguise realy,
he still sees her like a girlfriend beacause if you paid attention to the scene he would have just went all out and killed her but he tried to break the hold alexi had on her body
Dude Judy flirts with everyone and Yuri teases everyone it's what they do. But Yuri has these emotional heart to hearts with Estelle that imply so much more.
"I'll be able to stay with everyone. With you." *romantically stare at each other for an uncomfortable amount of time and Estelle looks away embarrassed*. "Thanks. I feel the same way" You, somehow: "They obviously see each other as siblings" ???
I'm not sure. Maybe I'm just saying that because I'm a girl, but I think there many things in the game wich would say:Yuri loves Estelle. But somehow there people how think that Yuri loves Judy... Well,Maybe we are lucky and there'll be a second part of Tales of vesperia. Then we'll know...
I remember when they said this was a "sibling" relationship. If I stared at my brother like that, my parents would call DCF and Dick Wolf would make our case an episode of SVU. They have the BEST pair IMO, second only to LukexTear. It's like together, but not "Let me strangle and choke you with our diabetes LloydxColet MartaxEmil LUV" Although I like when Yuri and Judy flirt. She's like his hot bro. "I appreciate your hotness, and that you do your thing. Much Respect" And she's like "word"
Some people doesnt understand that Estelle is pure and totally Naive and innocent, of course a confesion has to be the same way. Yuri understand this and tries to hold on the thing, even if he feels somethin, but at the end he end up seeing her as a "woman" more as just a "kid", because she matured in their journey. Look at the credits btw
Oh, thanks for this comment. I am almost disappointed in finding people who can think about the romantic line in the plot, and not see only yuri or yaoi.
In every Tales of game since Phantasia and onward the Hero is always with the Heroine even if they don't say it out loud it's obvious all the main hero and heroines are in love in every Tales of game. If you don't know Yuri and Estelle are canon they you haven't played enough Tales of games in your lifetime. xDD
If this is a friendzone, then all the characters of the game are in it. Rather, it was your typical open end, which seems to hint at "maybe ever after" but does not receive confirmation, so as not to kill interest or other ships.
While it would be nice if Estelle and Yuri would've openly confessed like Marta and Emil, I kinda like the indirect approach in this case. It seems to suit them and it's (arguably) more romantic IMHO.
I was once told by someone wizened in the ways of the world that roughly 90% of what someone says is in their tone, not their words, and there were a lot of unsaid things in their tone during that particular conversation.
@ES21007 I think Yuri said it in a teasing way? And the term doesn't necessarily have to be used in its strictest sense; he could be commenting on her boldness, for instance. (shrug)
@justcuzimwhite43 In TLH (spoiler) Edge and Reimi have rings on their hands in Reimi's ending, and in Legendia it's not sure whether he likes Shirley or Chloe.

@RaDinokun Well, There was that one with Raven where he keeps saying they're together after Yuri wins the coliseum fight. Then Yuri counters "If you're cheering for me, aren't we getting close old man?" (-_- ' ...uh...). Then the other one where Raven and Judy force the same idea. Rita comes in and somehow managed to make it worse...
I don't understand it either. There are hundreds of game/anime couples that express love without ever saying the words. Inuyasha's never come out and said he loves Kagome, but everyone with at least half of a brain knows that he does for a fact. Same with Kenshin and Kaoru from RK. You don't necessarily need words in order to convey and understand romantic intent or context(especially in this scene where it's practically beating you over the head that they have feelings for one another).

I think that throughout the whole game, these two are still trying to decide if they like each other. It's like a pre-relationship, you're still trying to decide if you want to go farther with that person. Really, there's not enough to hint that they love each other, but there's plenty to suggest that they might be able to have a relationship. Personally, I don't really see any chemistry between Estelle and Yuri. They care about each other, that's for sure.
kaychan4uu-Um, what do you mean "some?" The game broadcasts the pairing since the first time they met. The characters within game point it out, the interactions and moments themselves are hard evidence; the Abyss Complete Guide by Namco features and listed them as the official pairings of the game, along with AschxNatalia, VanxLegretta and CecillexFrings; and even the creators have stated that they're a couple. I don't know what game you were playing for you to say that.
I don’t want to interpret love as a relationship between a man and a woman, but I want to interpret a relationship as love between two men or two guys. This is how I see it in the context of Tales of Visperia, lol.
Yuri is such a good bro. Being a fan I really want to ship YurixEstelle to be legit serious/lovey dovey but playing the game and seeing the two interact, they're more platonic then romantic; at least to me anyways. Hoorah for sibling-ish love?
Only the kids seem to be concerned with signification of things like love or a pairing between the two. This scene was about disclosure and resolve more than anything.
it suggest they have a thing for eachother but it doesn't go anywhere so they are just close friends, i blame rita because she just wants estelle to herself.
Holy crap I'm totally responding to an ancient post, but feel compelled to do so anyway. I can give a reason why LloydxCollete is so diabetes shoved down your throat in TOS. One reason being that the game forces you to love her unless you deliberately be a complete jerk to Collete during choice skits in order for your other party members to gain relationship points with Lloyd (i.e flanoir scene, field skits, choosing peeps in scenes/special party). Also the 1st disc focuses on Collete's fate.
I think they have a great older brother younger sister relationship. They feel more like family rather then romantic partners. Now I'm open to all ships in this game, but based off what I see, a cannon pairing between these two doesn't really fit. Now a fan pairing would work because there would be fans putting in a lot of fan subtext that isn't in the original. Personally, I ship Yuri with everyone, he's just that compatible, but I gotta say, I don't see the chemistry between him and Estelle, at least without adding some of my own personal perspectives into it. Yeah, I feel like Estelle was friendzoned.
Personally, I find it funny to see how people see "only sibling's relatinship" between protagonists of the opposite sex, but at the same time find a lot of romantic overtones between the canonical friends of the same sex. Yep, there is still no canonical romance in the game, but this does not make shiper's double standards less hypocritical.
@@andrewfantome4020 What? When did the original poster mention anything at all about homosexual ships? They only talked about why they think Yuri/Estelle have a platonic relationship. They didn't even say they they preferred an homosexual ship. Also, of course people will ship what's more appealing to them, it's called personal preference and it's not really a bad thing. If they're into hetero ships they will latch on to evidence for it (for example I'm very fond of Judith/Yuri and can easily see some interactions between them that can be interpreted as romantic attraction), and the same thing goes for homosexual ships. Doesn't make anyone a hypocrite, man. It's a bit tiring when some people get all defensive about something like this, like someone can't prefer a certain ship without it being an "homo ships vs hetero ships" war, especially when the game is super open ended and the entire cast has so much chemistry that there's food for any kind of ship in my opinion. I personally give kudos to Tales of Vesperia for having a relationship between the hero and the main healer girl that's not forced into being romantic just because they're the main hero and the main healer girl, and exploring a different kind of closeness. The main party really feels like a close family by the end of the game, and I'm pretty sure that was the intent. It's really pure in a way. It's one of the things I really love about this tales game in particular.
@@NothingToNipahAb0ut You did not understand me. I am not talking about shipers at all, but about people who are so obsessed with yaoi and yuri, that they would rather believe in love between people of the same sex than a desire between a girl and a guy. Especially in the context of this game, when many slash shipers even deliberately tried to portray ship tease between Y and E as something light and unimportant, while at the same time doing a huge deal of any tension between guys or girls. People are really free to ship everything they want, but I’m extremely annoyed when people take it as personal and begin to intrigue against other ships.
@@andrewfantome4020 Whoops, sorry if I misunderstood what you were trying to say. It was just really weird to me that you'd bring issue with militant slash shippers who can't accept anyone else having a preference other than their own ship, while replying to someone who... is not really saying anything about slash ships? They just mentioned not seeing Yuri/Estelle in that way. Also, in this specific case for example, the original comment you were replying to wasn't trying to paint the relationship as Yuri and Estelle as not important, they weren't making light of it. They said that they were like siblings, which is an important type of relationship in and of itself. Not all important relationships are romantic, man. Yuri and Estelle still care for each other deeply in canon and grow and learn thanks to each other even if they don't want to bang each other, lol. It just felt kind of unrelated to bring up slash shippers here specifically you know? Again, sorry if I misunderstand your point, but what's really so wrong about people taking the hints of the ships they like for themselves? If you like Yuri/Estelle (I'm assuming this since all your comments and replies in this video are in support of YuriEstelle and criticizing slash shippers specifically), what's wrong with you seeing Yuri and Flynn or Yuri and Judith as just friends then? Is that a bad thing? You're discarding the tension between other possible ships in favor of your favorite. I just don't see what's so wrong with homosexual shippers doing the same thing is all. When nothing is canon everyone has freedom to pair up whoever they like together, and I don't really see what's so terrible about that. And I strongly agree with you about that last part you said, shippers get super annoying when they try to mess with others just because they don't ship what they themselves ship. Though I feel it needs to be said that this is not a trait specific to slash shippers. Straight shippers do this too a whole lot. If you don't believe me go look into the Harry Potter fandom. The Harry/Hermione vs Hermione/Ron wars lasted for years and were huuge, and also obnoxious as all hell, with people throwing insults at each other for not liking their ship. And again, even if these annoying types of shippers do exist, I won't deny that... the original poster didn't really try to degrade others for not shipping the same thing they do. I actually thought that's what you were trying to do, since you brought up homosexual ships and annoying shippers up to some guy who didn't even mention Yuri/Flynn or anything really, the original poster was super reasonable in what they were saying actually, so it felt like you were trying to pick a fight with someone who simply stated their opinion just because they didn't ship Yuri/Estelle, like you were assuming anyone who doesn't like Y/E is a homosexual shipper or an annoying militant shipper, so I'm sorry about that, I assumed wrong. I thought you were one of those militant shippers you hate so much because you were trying to pick a fight with someone just because of them not shipping your ship.
@@NothingToNipahAb0ut I really support them, but at the same time, I completely trust the theory that Rita is the iron closet lesbian, and that game deliberately teases any variations of ships. The very fact of ship war around this title annoys me. Vesperia has never been a romance game, so I don’t care about shiping here, but at one time I was so annoyed by the romance debate in this game that I unknowingly began to perceive slash ships in this game too negatively, lol. However, I am not going to argue with the fact that people are free to ship everyone they want, so if I have created some kind of impression of aggressiveness, then I apologize.
Estelle: "I'll be able to stay with everyone. With you." *romantically stare at each other for an uncomfortable amount of time and Estelle looks away embarrassed*. Yuri: "Thanks. I feel the same way" You: OmG fRiEnDzOnE ???
Hell, that whole scene in Eldrant to made it obvious to anyone that he was going confess without even needing to look at the diary. A person would have to be as dense as Luke or Lloyd to say that Luke and Tear didn't have feelings for one another when over 90% of the scenes featuring them together was beating you over the head with it, especially after he changed. And damn right, we guys have feelings. Just because we're a little thick-headed doesn't mean we aren't romantics too.
Ahh Yuri Lowell... *man crush sigh* He's probably one of the most calm, overly confident, prudent, and benevolent protagonists to ever spawn out of an rpg, not to mention the sickest fighter of the tales series... Kratos is a close second. =P
Namco made their feelings for each other pretty obvious. There were scenes, skits and Luke's thoughts in his diary that told you. Luke and Tear had great chemistry. The problem I see with Yuri and Estelle, is that there's not enough chemistry. They don't partner up like Luke and Tear do when they are in the company of others and alone.
well it does not seem like a relationship because through out the game yuri always tells estelle "be careful , is that what you really want? , ill help you , estelle think about this dont, do that" where yuri and judith actually flirted with each other at times
was it because he said "fucking" instead of "in a sexual relationship" or something of that sort? i mean you can rephrase his comment to say "they arent together, theyre just friends" theres no malice in his comment at all lmao
@youseineko Nahh. It made it look like FlynnxEstelle... Plus, Senny still looks like he hasn't decided between Shirl and Chloe. So far Chlo's been in RM2, but they push the first pairing in RM, the second in 2.
@PHILOSYNC Yeah. Some couples lay the romance on so thick it becomes nauseating (i'm looking at you MartaXEmil) Here I'm glad they let us feel it without forcing anything.
i see it more like that estelle wants something more (there are a few skits in wich the other tease estelle about how she feels about yuri) but yuri doesnt. i think that is yuri the one who sees estelle as her younger sister. she doesnt see him that way in my opinion
@jsh020 you know what ive noticed? the more UST a couple has built, the more fanfiction there will be. that would explain why there are so many fanfiction of pokemon. if they said "i love you", that would go aways as to having them ignore this couple, and move on to other couples. (most of them nonsense)
I don't know about you but this is the first main Tales protagonists couple that I don't know what to think about their relationship. In my mind, they don't get higher than the "good friends" level ^^'
I kinda wished they could've done a REAL love confession for Yuri and Estelle like they did for Emil and Marta in DotNW. Too bad that game came out after Vesperia.
Estelle and Rita, Yuri and Judy or Flynn that's how I seen it all in the game. People might disagree with us but I won't care that's how i saw it and I'm not going to change it.
well perhaps that is because they're not supposed to partner up like Luke and Tear do but like Yuri and Estelle do. Emotions are a far cry from chemistry, so don't analogize.
Man I love this scene so much. That way that Yuri & Estelle look at each other always makes me smile 😁.
I think they're so cute together. The love is subtle, which for this game plays out nicely.
when my friends ask how does it feel without my glasses, i will show them this video
Mein Liebe The definitive version is how I feel WITH my glasses
"..I'll be able to stay with everyone. With you." (long romantic stare) That heavily suggests they are in love. He is protective of Estelle, but who keeps bringing up the whole sibling deal? Do they actually have to come out and say it before you believe it?
Period. These bitches are literally in denial.
I feel like this game was the least focused on romance out of all of them. I still ship Yuri and Estelle the most, but I can't deny that Yuri and Judith have good chemistry
I know. I love YurixEstelle more than the other but I won't deny it is still good.

Yeah at the very least you can not deny that out of the party yuri cared more for Estelle then anyone else she was his priority
I like the music playing in the background so good
@KlineStife that will happen regardless, besides the kinda do get together in the end of this game anyhow, they dont need to say the words i love you out loud for them to show they have feelings for eachother, his scene is a love confession in disguise realy,
I honestly ship Yuri/Judith cause that just feels right. They both are vigilantes and usually fight alone and they kinda have the same personality.
Same here. I really love their chemistry, it is one of my favourite Tales pairings. Estelle and Yuri simply feel like really good friends to me.
They'd be occasional romance interest, but i don't think they'd settle for each other. Yuri needs someone more homey, maybe Flynn? lol
he still sees her like a girlfriend beacause if you paid attention to the scene he would have just went all out and killed her but he tried to break the hold alexi had on her body
Estelle: Heh heh it's warm. *is sitting in dog shit*
if you notice yuri always talks in multiple person
from the vesperia star "story" itself, its about siblings- brother*sister. and i think it fits them well. yuri flirts with judy more anyway.
If they didn't want incest implications, then they would not have turned this scene into a kind of love confession.
Dude Judy flirts with everyone and Yuri teases everyone it's what they do. But Yuri has these emotional heart to hearts with Estelle that imply so much more.
"I'll be able to stay with everyone. With you."

There was no "they said," there was only Yuri's VA, who in 2015 said that in his opinion they were like brother and sister.
Yuri and Estelle are mY LIFE AODFUADOIFUAOIDUF

3DS. Yes it's coming out for the console. For Nintendo.
OF COURSE YOUR NOT SCARE,ESTELLE! Your with Yuri :D
Aaaaah why am i watching this i haven't done the whole game yet!!!
He does, just off screen.
He is so awesome he cant be shown

Estelle: I wish I could bounce like Judith...
Ooh, I smell love~
i wish all the previous tales games get remade for next gen consoles, i tried looking for tales of the abyss... couldnt find it anywhere
Damn, I said this 8 years ago... And then they remade both Toss, TotA, and ToV
"Someone Veeeery Important"
@PredictableEnigma don't forget she healz him when he fell from zaude :D (just to add)
I ship Yuri x Estelle ^^'
Estelle was Friendzoned :O

Especially in the context of this game,
when many slash shipers even deliberately tried to portray ship tease between Y and E as something light and unimportant, while at the same time doing a huge deal of any tension between guys or girls.
Where can I find this "Complete Guide" and is there an online translation I can read?
@KlineStife umm if you havnt noticed litterly 95% of the rpgs that resolve the romance the MC dies at the end
Yuri treat estelle as a sister.
haha....estelle puppy eyes, yuri simple eyes.....what does this mean? friendzone?
Estelle: "I'll be able to stay with everyone. With you."
*romantically stare at each other for an uncomfortable amount of time and Estelle looks away embarrassed*.
Yuri: "Thanks. I feel the same way"
You: OmG fRiEnDzOnE
???
Hell, that whole scene in Eldrant to made it obvious to anyone that he was going confess without even needing to look at the diary. A person would have to be as dense as Luke or Lloyd to say that Luke and Tear didn't have feelings for one another when over 90% of the scenes featuring them together was beating you over the head with it, especially after he changed.
And damn right, we guys have feelings. Just because we're a little thick-headed doesn't mean we aren't romantics too.
Ahh Yuri Lowell... *man crush sigh*
He's probably one of the most calm, overly confident, prudent, and benevolent protagonists to ever spawn out of an rpg, not to mention the sickest fighter of the tales series... Kratos is a close second. =P
@FanaticTrent Abyss + Symphonia = Awesome beyond measure.
Damn. I want to ship these two so badly but I just feel like that there is NO chemistry between them. This scene just justifies it
they arent fucking, it is a friendship
If you're going to be rude over videogame characters, then fuck off.
StarElectric372 where was he rude o.o he just disagrees with you lol or maybe even not since you dont think theyre fucking either o.o
***** It didn't bother me that they disagreed. It bothered me that they was being rude with their disagreement.
was it because he said "fucking" instead of "in a sexual relationship" or something of that sort? i mean you can rephrase his comment to say "they arent together, theyre just friends" theres no malice in his comment at all lmao
was that a tiny judith on rapedes back?
@Temptest09 Haha, what kind of brother-sister relationship do you have? My brother tells me not to bother him and that he doesn't care what I do! ;_;
@RockmanMegaX
I see what your getting at....
and i....
agree!!!!!
They have to be the best tales couple I've seen in a while.
SHE MADE REPPEDE GO AWAY! come back doggie!...TT>TT
@youseineko
Nahh. It made it look like FlynnxEstelle...
Plus, Senny still looks like he hasn't decided between Shirl and Chloe. So far Chlo's been in RM2, but they push the first pairing in RM, the second in 2.
tales of vesperia, as the title said
@PHILOSYNC Yeah.
@jsh020
you know what ive noticed? the more UST a couple has built, the more fanfiction there will be. that would explain why there are so many fanfiction of pokemon.
if they said "i love you", that would go aways as to having them ignore this couple, and move on to other couples. (most of them nonsense)
DAMMIT NAMCO BANDAI, JUST MAKE THEM THE OFFICIAL COUPLE ALREADY!
soo... is yuri in love with Estelle or what...?
May I ask why you think so? I mean.... I thought about this for a cuple of time, but I still don't know, why you think so.....
How do i get this conversation? Or is it on the story? I've start playing the ToV: DE
aww da sweetest moments in da game :D
Good times.
at yuri lowell i agree whit you
Yeah, that is what nearly all the relationships are in this game. That's one reason why I like this game, no romance.
I don't know about you but this is the first main Tales protagonists couple that I don't know what to think about their relationship. In my mind, they don't get higher than the "good friends" level ^^'
i agree with you i just wish they had some kind of lovey dovey crap at the end to make it obvious
You think that they do not like each other, because you consider her an annoying character. Oh lol, go on, this is good logic :D
There are, actually.
At least in one skit...
well perhaps that is because they're not supposed to partner up like Luke and Tear do but like Yuri and Estelle do.
Emotions are a far cry from chemistry, so don't analogize.
What skit?
