No Egg Craig That's really good to hear. I found these videos because i enjoy making candy at home, but fell in love with just listening to the family banter. it makes me very happy. :) thank you! i want all the candy making videos!!! any type is fine by me!
No Egg Craig you're so that they could do that but with someone like me that has Crohn's disease that can not do that because of the fiber because of fabric are Spain and someone has Crohn's disease mild or severe and we have to pee all over fruits and vegetables that has skin that could be peeled because of the fiber so now tell me for someone that has Crohn's disease or any other immune disease and they can't eat that much fiber how are these supposed to go vegan it's really hard if we have to boiler vegetables and kill the fiber in the vegetables are broken down and so forth with fruits but mostly or vegetables have to be boiled until there's barely anything left of them so I just want to Crohn's disease can go vegan but still she needs her meat
Your mom is such an amazing lady! I was diagnosed with lymes disease 2 years ago and 1 year in I watched forks over knives and thought going vegan could help on my journey. That weekend my husband, kids and I all went vegan and haven't looked back. My mother on the other hand isn't very supportive. She has made fun if us and constantly questioned our decision. It made me cry to hear why your mom went vegan. Such a beautiful soul.
Thank you for sharing this! Much like you in your journey, I was misdiagnosed... but I was misdiagnosed with having Peripheral Neuropathy when I really have and am now still recovering from Guillain-Barré Syndrome. Researching the diet change ‘treatments’ was incredibly eye-opening for me, I had no idea before of how diet choice affects our nervous systems. So glad to know you have found a way to get back to healthy even through your health struggles and pure awesomeness that your family is so incredibly supportive in joining you! 😃
Greetings, I'd be curious to know if you have ever been prescribed antibiotics previous to your symptoms, particularly Cipro, Levaquin, Avelox, or Ciprofloxacin? I ask because of the horrific side effects of this class of antibiotics known as fluoroquinolones. I had taken them for various things, bronchitis, sinus infection, and diverticulitis. My health got progressively worse each year, especially my mobility and weakness. It was 2.5 yrs ago after a 4 day hospital stay for diverticulitis flare and not being able to walk/stand but 2 steps or 3 that I began to look what was the cause. To be shock and horror I learned the very drugs that were given to be also were wrecking havor on my body. I just now looked up CIDP, and it sounds identical to what myself and thousands/thousands have had happened after taking them. There are many other health complications due to these antibiotics as well. After joining a support group on Facebook I've seen the damage of so many people who unknowingly took an antibiotic without hesitation. Drs are resistant to the facts that a drug can do the damage it has, but thankfully the FDA made changes on when it should be prescribed, now as the last line antibiotic and never if the patient is over 60 yrs of age. You might Goggle fluoroquinolone toxicity and see if it sounds like your health problems. Many who have been told they have fibromyalgia actually have been damaged by these drugs. I am now in a wheelchair because of the damage. Blessings to you and keep making the candy videos, your parents are real gems.
Wow! What a truly inspiring story, I thought I saw all your videos until I got to this one......it’s so nice to see you, Craig, up working and out of the wheel chair! It goes to show you what we can do when we take charge of our own health! Your family is awesome!
Just found your videos and I'm so stoked. I've been having a lot of MS type symptoms and attacks lately and I see a neurologist in September. I was also just diagnosed with high ldl cholesterol. I'm making the switch to a vegan lifestyle and I am so excited to watch all of your videos and learn.
Talking about 10 watermelons in a week reminds me of my watermelon craving I used to get when I was pregnant with my (well she will be 17 this October) child. I sat down and ate 2 and a 1/2 watermelons in one sitting.
I like Grapefruit but can't eat or drink it as it reacts with a medicine I take. I like traditional Red Watermelon but I got spoiled by the Hybrid ones I love Orange fleshed watermelon it's sweeter that regular red. If you can finde it they are usually called Orangelo or Tendersweet watermelons. If you live in an area where Watermelon grows really well try to get starter plants and grow them they are so worth it!
I also craved watermelon when I was pregnant with my daughter that will turn 18 in October. We ate it every evening after work and we then would have supper after working in the yard
So Craig, I am 75 and have had CIDP for twenty five years . Needless to say, I am handicapped and cannot stand in one spot. I can manage to get around my house a little with the help of my walker. I have been in extreme pain for all of this time and am surprised you didn't mention your pain. I am allergic to pain meds so I get no relief from that area. Could you please make another short video about how your health has improved since you went vegan, and what you do to help ease your pain? I cannot tell you how happy I am for you that you have actually reco vered from C I D P. You have a strong willed and supportive family and that makes everything in life so much easier. PS, I am so in love with all of you, especially Karen. I thoroughly love all of your videos. It is now November, 2019, so hope all of you have a truly wonderful Christmas and New Year.
I actually never experienced constant pain, however before my recovery I was much much more sensitive to pain. Like if I were to stub my toe it would hurt a lot more than it used to and for a lot longer than it used to. I'm actually planning on making a video going more in depth about my experience with CIDP so make sure you stay subscribed for that! And thanks for watching both channels, that means a lot to me 😊
I stumbled across these videos last night, I love watching your Mum shop. When I clicked on this video I was not expecting this and it hit me like a tonne of bricks to hear you have CIDP. I have it too. I was diagnosed with a really aggressive form of it as a baby. I've never met anyone with the same disease. In fact when I was diagnosed I was the only person in my country to have the disease. So it's always been a really lonely experience. Didn't know I really needed to see this video until I watched it. Man, was not expecting to feel this sort of way today. Good luck with your condition and your veganism! Love from Scotland 🏴
I have Primary Progressive MS and I was looking into my diet but my doctor said I couldn't do vegan or vegetarian because I also have A rare form of anemia. I have cut down my meat intake dramatically though. I have degenerative spine disease and severe arthritis in my knees so I own an electric wheelchair but I'm trying not to use it but it's getting difficult. It is nice you have support from your family, I wish I had that.
I live in Florida and during the summer you can get huge watermelons from the back of someone's pick up truck on the side of the road for $1 each, and they cut deals like 5 for $4
I was diagnosed with Gullaine Barre Syndrome December 5,2017. I have been doing a lot of research on vegan foods. I am also a type 1 diabetic since I was 9 and take a high does of long acting insulin on top of a short acting with my meals and sliding scale. I recently turned to UA-cam for ideas on what I can eat and not bottom out with my blood sugar. I came across one of your videos of you and your mom shopping. I started to watch it and got hooked. Then I came across this video also. I clicked it and started to watch it. It brought me some inspiration. Thanks for sharing your story.
I just subscribed Craig and I liked your previous video of you and your Mom shopping 🛒 🛍 and your family trying out the food when you guys got home,I would like to try the Vanilla dip!!!! 😀😀😀😀
You look great!.. family support is everything.. so glad you have such a strong bond with mum and dad .. at first I was much the same I couldn't pronounce my daughters condition it was just awful.. she suffers from I.I.H. idiopathic inter cranial hypertension, it's been a long slow progress however diet change was a must.. take each day as it comes ..thanks for sharing .. x😘
I’ve been watching Hercules Candy videos for weeks now, and I already loved your channel, and I just made the connection that it’s the same family! Insane 😱😱
What a lovely family so genuine good to hear your doing better Now I no what it’s like getting drips ect all the time I was diagnosed with cancer in 2014 I was on chemotherapy & radio for 6 month straight had to go to hospital mon to fri for radio chemo every Monday blood tests 3 times a week scans ect you no how it goes but thankfully I’m in remission now so totally relate.... Keep strong & healthy all the best to you & your family love from Scotland 🏴🇬🇧.
I think it's great that you were able to improve your health so dramatically through your diet. And what a blessing to have such a supportive family! I find dairy is my biggest issue. I have always hated milk and never cared for ice cream, but I did love yogurt and had a total cheese addiction. The yogurt was easy to give up, but cheese.....ARRGGHHH!!!
This is a really interesting story as to why you went vegan, I was always curious how all three of you guys became vegan and was not expecting such a reason.
Hi Craig, great to see you’re still in amazing shape. Great video, my son has started ivig now and is making great progress. We have both made improvements to our diets also. A way to go to where you are though! I feel how your mum felt, i want to do what i can to support my son. You are so inspiring, all the best , i love your videos x
I have been vegan for 5 years and was vegetarian for 5 years before then and when I first started meatless I had so much energy. My body had such a positive reaction that I could never go back to eating meat.
im glad your healthy. i have been sick my entire life. and dealing with more issues now. people dont realize hpw hard it is when you have a disease. i tried vegetarian years ago. just couldnt do it. but i am glad you found something that works for you
I actually tried going vegetarian about a year before going vegan and failed within about a week 😂 But I think for me I needed something more extreme, like raw veganism. It was sort of like an alcoholic dropping alcohol completely instead of just drinking beer, ya know?
So excited to see this... Because me and my husband went Vegan in June... He has lost 65 so far and I have lost 54 ... And I make cakes and now your chocolate covered cherries for friends an family and my community ... And not tempted ... Glad to see other vegans that also make sweets
“If it tastes good, spit it out”. 😂😂😂. Your mom is a crackup. The candid nature of your videos really makes it seem like we’re chatting with good friends. I really hope I can get to visit you all someday when I go to New York again. Unless you and the folks come down to Australia for a visit. I’d even cook vegan for you !! I can make a mean mock koala 😝😁
Been bing-watching your family vids. Was going to ask you to adopt me but don't think I could live in a basement;/ Your love & support of one another is a sight to behold!
my mother has it. she is no longer on infusions she takes a single pill and hasn't relapsed. her diet couldn't be changed because of other health issues. I have fibromyalgia and i also can't change my diet as I get very sick every time i have dropped foods from my diet.
Hello from the fellow vegan candy maker up in Canada! I went vegan for similar reasons as you, I was misdiagnosed with chronic fatigue and fibromyalgia at 16. I was eventually diagnosed properly with lupus and Crohn's disease at 20 (22 now). At one point I was sleeping 23 hours a day, in the hospital every week and on the way to having my intestines removed. I went vegan because I tried literally every other diet out there and nothing helped. Since being vegan (little over a year) I have been to the hospital once and can live a normal life again 98% of the time. I'm actually transitioning my whole candy company into being vegan in January 😊 I hope that you guys are surviving the crazy candy Holiday season, it's been crazier than ever this year 😝
haha yeah it's been pretty nuts this year! But I'm so glad to hear you're doing better! Have you thought about posting a video of you making candy explaining why you went vegan? That would be a dream come true to have all our candy vegan, we will have to talk more in the future.
+No Egg Craig I actually brought a tripod today to start a UA-cam channel for Shhugar in the new year! You guys completely inspired me to make candy videos 😊
Hey Sarah, not sure if you'll ever see this, but on the off chance I've had crohns since I was about 19 or 20 too. I haven't tried going fully vegan, but I've thought about doing some raw veganism and going vegan for the most part. My question is, did the raw food not bother your crohns? every time I have raw vegetables or fruit it seems to bother my intestines. I'd like to hear more about what your diet did for you
Just going back and rewatching some old videos.. How's your health now? You look pretty healthy and heaven knows you seem super-active.. but are you completely off the medicine? Will you ever have to take it again? I'm glad you're much improved.. I spent 6 months in a wheelchair due to injury and I can't imagine being 19-20 and going from being a runner to in a wheelchair. Amazing strength and courage!!
This was so interesting! I was diagnosed with MS about six months ago! Definitely going to look into the books you guys mentioned since I have to get an IV infusion once a month!
I actually have a friend who was diagnosed with MS about a year ago and right around the time the pandemic started they went whole food plant based, no sugar, no oil, no alcohol or weed and now their neurologist is stunned when they go to get an MRI to see that their lesions have actually shrunk! I wish you the best of luck and know that I'm hear if you need any other info or help!
I'm such a savoury person though. I cannot eat sweet things in the morning and that's also why even as a kid, I never liked candy. That would be the biggest adjustment for me on a fruit diet. But I do love vegetable dishes, so cooked meals and salads is not a problem.
I just subbed yesterday, I've been watching your videos since yesterday. I am thinking of switching over from vegetarian to vegan. Thanks for all the helpful videos!
Man, you are so lucky to still have both of you parents around. Not only are they still alive but they also are still together. That is so awesome. I'm pretty jealous to be honest but also happy to see there is people out there who still appreciate that kinda stuff. Since I lost mine I notice a lot of people take it for granted. You notice things when it's to late. Maybe I watch this stuff more to see how a real family acts then the candy 😂.
Do you have a list of the books you started with? I am so tired of being sick and tired and being told it is all in my head. I do not drink soda or use a premade of packaged food. No hydrogenated oils. I feel the worst right after I eat. Thank you, Juanita
How's your health now, Craig? This is a story of health, and family. More than anything else, this is a story of love and family. One the one hand, there comes a sense of common sense, but that wasn't cause sufficient. Seeing your child struggle to walk will change the way you look at a lot of things; Mom and Dad (and Sister, too) alike. Mutual support, no guilt, and no rationalization. What a wonderful story, and well worth the telling. It is so cool to know that you are not just heroes to me, but to each other and for each other as well. You are champions all! Thank you so much for this. Stay well, safe and happy.
I lived the 80/10/10 lifestyle for 3 full months and it was amazing, so much energy, felt the best I had ever felt. Watermelon for breakfast, tons of oranges, apples, peaches for lunch, and hue salads for dinner, just tons of varieties of fruits and veggies. But in month three I started breaking out along my jawline with intense painful cystic acne and it caused me to have a massive panic attack that something was wrong with what I was doing, so I went back to eating cooked vegan food, and the transition back was kinda hard because the portions seemed so small compared to eating raw. So I kinda developed a binge eating disorder for 6 months while transitioning back to cooked food and gained a lot of weight. I just ate way to much because my perception of portion size was way off from eating such large fruit meals. I'm much healthier now and my weight is back to 115, it got up to 152! I just eat whatever I want (vegan) now instead of limiting myself to raw, although, it was really awesome in the beginning and I had a lot of fun putting all my fruit stickers on my calender, haha. But yeah, just didn't work out for me, a lot of people chalked the acne up to "detoxing" but I think I know my body and there was definitely something wrong because I started feeling very lightheaded as well. Might have thrown my hormones out of balance cuz my period was starting to disappear and I started spotting here and there random times throughout the month, still don't know exactly what was happening. But yeah, that's my experience with the raw food lifestyle. Regular veganism is where my health is at it's best and I don't really want to ever experiment with my diet like that again cuz it was kinda scary and took me a while to recover from.
Also, I work at a popular vegan bakery called nami in phoenix, az and am a cake decorator, we make different seasonal candy too, like peanut butter bars/cups, "snickers", different barks, truffles, so I really fucking love your channel, haha.
I think a lot of people transitioning from raw to cooked have a similar story, I definitely gained a few pounds at first after incorporating cooked food. Not because of the cooked food though as much as like you said the portion size is vastly different and hard to get used to. But yeah I think a whole food plant based diet with cooked food is definitely healthier.
If ya'll are ever in Phoenix for any reason make sure to check out nami! We have these things called "tsoynamis" which are a play on a Dairy Queens blizzard, and it's the dankest vegan icecream in da world, I swear. It's organic soy and coconut based and there are tons of mix-ins. We always have tons of different baked goods options, fresh friend donuts every morning, and also do a huge vegan brunch every sunday that people line up out the door for. Just sayin, it's definitely a spot to scope out if your a vegan family who happens to be on vacaton in Phoenix. Check out our instagram page @namivegansweets. Imma bout to go follow you guys right meow. :3
This story is fantastic. So glad you are doing better Craig. And your mom and dad are vegan too. Far out man!!! I really enjoy watching you and your family.
I'm hooked on these videos! your family and friends are amazing. all so funny including you. I love the dynamic, shopping trips and receipes. My husband and I started on a "diet" for losing weight but after a while we have adapted it to just plain healthy eating. I'm managing to make more plant based meals and we are definitely excited to transition to vegan!
Neat story, I love hearing peoples background, because people can assume whatever they want but to hear right from the person them selves brings a whole new light to who they are and why they do what they do. i.e. how you are very passionate about youtube and why. Totally cool youtube fam. Keep up the videos you guys rock!
I love the diet, high alcalines, go back to what earth provides for us. Lots of beans, lentils, peaches, fruits, chilis, tomatos all the good stuff we take for granted, as we keep walking past nature's goods to head straight for the chip aisle or the boxed & canned goods.
Your family is amazing. Love your videos. I like your dad too he is just like my dad in law.He is a pilot and always working like your dad. Lots of love from England.
I can so empathize with you Craig. Was on liver medications injections that cost about $10k for every week worth. Unfortunately eating vegan wouldn't cure my heath issues. But nonetheless, I'm very proud that you got off the meds.
Hi, Craig. I'm a recent subscriber and thinking about going vegan in 2020. I went into a ketogenic diet after my mother's health scare to support her and my dad. Then I discovered I was allergic to gluten. From then on, I abstained from bread, pasta, and biscuits, which surprised me how easy it was to do. I'm also allegic to chicken and eggs so I've learned to avoid that very early on. Plus, I don't drink soda or hard liquor. So becoming vegan seemed like the next logical step, thanks to you and your family for inspiring me. Cheers!
Hi, I stumbled upon your family's videos a week or so and am HOOKED. I also am thrilled that I have a trip planned to visit friends in Hamilton, NY and hope to get to the store and pick up a bunch of the goodies I have seen. I have a couple questions. First, do your parents actually make the chocolate itself at your factory?? Second, since you have all become vegan are your mom and dad able to taste the chocolate for quality control or is that not needed because you have the same recipes and use the same products to make your chocolate?
Awesome, we can't wait to meet you Corey, Hamilton is only like an hour away! We actually purchase our chocolate from Peter's Chocolate. And they still taste test the chocolate, but when they're eating their normal food they are vegan.
Great job! My husband reversed his high BP, etc doing this. He is all about prevention and is a cardiac RN at one of the local hospitals here in Syracuse. I just happened upon your UA-cam video after checking to see if your candy store had video's to show my 5 year old. SO, I've been back and forth with the cheese, etc. like your mom but finally am ready to just ditch it since I have type II diabetes, etc. I've been watching FullyRawKristina for a while as well as John Kholer and several others. My husband follows Dr. Esselstyns diet. I also like Chef AJ or her video's "The Chef And The Dietician".
If you have any questions we're here to help, on UA-cam or in person since you live so close! Although it sounds like your husband is on the right track as it is!
Thank you, I will. Yes, my husband is actually thinking about going back to school to get another degree. He wants to be in Preventative Medicine. Instead of getting people when they are too sick or who don't care, he wants to help them BEFORE it all gets too far.
It is awesome that your family is vegan. My favorite meal to make is pasta or rice, coconut oil, taco seasoning, garlic powder, and whatever kind of pepper you choose. Y'all should try making your own pasta sauce because the jars of sauce sold in stores are very wasteful and almost always watery. My dad makes the best paste sauce (with tomato paste as the base), and if he makes enough of it, the sauce can last over a month.
Thank you for sharing your story. While my family is pretty supportive and will eat my recipes when I make them, they don't often eat vegan on their own. It's amazing how supportive your family was and found the practicality of it beneficial.
And in the next breath, how they want their patients to be partners in their own health. But you try to be, and they're like, "Oh, we got a live one here ... " *shrug*

I'm watching your moms and the chocolates and can't stop thinking about the I Love Lucy candy making episode...lol
Really interesting video, I love how supportive your family is, your mom is awesome, so chipper and her skin looks amazing! I was raised vegetarian, my mom is still a vegetarian at 71, your mom reminds me a lot of her 💕 I was raised vegetarian, went vegan on and off ten years ago.. I guess an unhealthy vegan, still eating sugar, pasta, flour.. diagnosed with RA a year ago... 😩 I immediately dropped all sugar, flour pasta and started juicing at least 32 ounces a day of at least 80/20 fruit and veggie ratio. Ive never felt better, it’s definitely expensive but I can’t think of anything else more important than my health to spend money on ;) Great testimony of a plant based diet and your soo supportive family! Love your videos, love from Myrtle Beach 🏖
10 years ago i was in hospital with laryngitis which at that time i got chronically, problem was that my throat closed totally to the extent i couldnt breathe on my own. After a cortisone treatment and what not, one doctor came in and told me i was misdiagnosed, its not laryngitis, my throat and larynx was scarred, burned from acid reflux. Then he started treating me for that and after a barrage of tests found i am totally allergic to wheat, gluten is my enemy nr 1. I do have to take 1 capsule a day to nutralize stomach acid, but with a gluten free diet i do far prevented progressing to celiac disease. Shopping for totally glutenfree products in south africa is a pain and extremely expensive as it seen as a health fad not illness. So, its just cheaper to go with fresh veggies, whole spices and just intelligent shopping, i dont buy anything already prepared as msg/wheat products gets added to every and anything. Point being, eating smart to help your health is the best option
So interesting to listen... I have had Ivig too for Myasthenia Gravis and have all sorts of health issues so we have started a vegan diet too , so hoping for good results!!
I've have CIDP since I was 19. Also diagnosed with GBS at first, then to CIDP because it was recurrent. But the hospital sued me because I couldn't afford IVIG anymore (I got REALLY behind on payments) It was also 7k a pop here..and I was doing it 3x a week. Also plasmapheresis, cellcept and azathioprine. I now take.... NOTHING. Yes nothing.. realised after years of pain, hospitals and debt- it's better to have CIDP and the symptoms it comes with, than all those "treatments" and pills. I'm 32 now.. but CIDP is for life. I didn't come here to comment on the vegan stuff.. just nice to see a fellow CIDPer.
If you eat a lot of fruit or just vegetables at one meal, doesn't it give you the runs? I'm not suspose to eat gluten, but it's so hard. What do you do about calcium and iron consumption?
My first few days being vegan yes it did, but after your body adjusts to the increase in fiber your just regular again. As for calcium and iron make sure you're eating your green leafy vegetables, nuts and seeds are very beneficial in that regard as well. After a while I've found that I don't really have to think about what I have to eat, it's just habit now.
This story is so inspiring! And pretty similar to my family. My daughter went vegetarian first and as I wanted to support her I joined in and went vegan one month later. At that time I didn´t even know that there is a word for eating no meat, dairy and any other animal products.... Cooking now is much more fun than it was before! And yes YT is great for educating yourself!
I don't know if you read comments on old videos...my 4 year old daughter has CIDP and we've been doing IVIG for about a year now...(and yes a very expensive treament) her and I watch your family's candy making videos almost every morning, she loves the candy cane making the best...I subscribed to this channel to see how you made the switch to vegan and I was pleased to see how onboard your family is. I'm curious do you still have any residual symptoms now?
Hey Mari, sorry to hear about your daughter's diagnosis. I do still have some atrophy and nerve damage in my feet and lower legs. It really only effects my balance mildly, if I stub my toe it hurts more than it used to and for longer than it used to and it's tough for me to go on my tippy toes. But other than that it really doesn't effect my day to day life very much.
just discovered your videos and I love your fam! my brother has MS and was diagnosed at 16 now he is 36! it is so hard to get a diagnosis especially as a young person when they usually chuck it up to stress, anxiety, sleep, etc. i am not vegan but I am trying to slowly work my way into fully vegan days and dont purchase meat anymore. take care!
So glad I came across this. I have a better understanding and appreciation of you all. This sounds like a diet me and my husband are on. We avoid wheat but not rice. And meat is about 2,,% of our meals. You do appreciate raw more than things like fries and nuggets after a while. We eat as raw as possible. I'm not a roasted veg kind of person. But why did this diet help your condition?
I've been Vegan for 11 years I live in Winnipeg Manitoba canada. You guys are awesome I love all living things so I choose not to be friend and name my dinner!!!! Einstein is a genius!!! He will live on forever.
What an amazing story. I have only been watching you all for about 1 month now and I had no idea if you were allergic to eggs and milk..but now I know and that you for letting us know. I have been watching you go shopping with your Mom at Aldies. I live in Montreal Quebec Canada, and we do not have Aldie's here...so we drive 65 miles to UpState Ny. Plattsburgh and I do my shopping there...Unfortunately the store is close for 1 month for renovations...What am I going to do now?? 1 Question...sorry for bein g so nieve but do Vegans eat meat?
I have MS. I also have been diagnosed with osteoporosis. I’m severely weak. I have problems getting to my car. I believe I will be in a wheelchair soon. I have had people come and grab me in parking lots because I was so weak I was hitting the ground. Lots of precious people in this world. I had a veggie burger once. It was absolutely delicious. Does anyone know how to make a veggie burger? Does anyone know where I can find a recipe?
This video makes me love your family even more Craig! I definitely would love you to do a video showing/ telling us your fav vegan recipes (seen your grilled cheese one)! 😊❤️
Your mom mentioned a few books in this episode and I picked a couple of them up. Would you guys possibly be interested in talking about your favorite books, vegan related or otherwise?
I finished my beef with meat and I'm working on 80/10/10. Ive read a few books on plant based diets, and they have all pushed the reason to go vegan as method of saving animals. Which is great, however that isn't why I went vegan. It was nice that Esselstyn mostly touched on the health and science of eating vegan and provided loads of informative answers for those pesky questions that are asked of us. "Where do you get your iron and protein from?" "There is no calcium in your diet." 🙄
haha I know what you mean I get those questions on the daily. But if you're all about the science I would highly suggest How Not to Die by Dr. Michael Greger, Proteinaholic by Dr. Garth Davis is really good too
I was eating out E V E R Y day. It gets old after a while. I got tired of it and started ordering “Hello Fresh” a few times a week and now I just cook from the recipes I’ve accumulated over time. Still eat out at least 3 to 4 times a week though. I am slowly changing my eating habits due to having an auto immune disorder of the thyroid. I also have a type of neuropathy as well. Every day is a struggle. This video is very informative and I’m grateful you chose to share your story.
I absolutely love your family! You and your mom absolutely crack me up. I was wondering about your family's veganism so I just spent some time and found where you talked about it in your previous videos. Good for all of you! I know how much having an invisible illness can affect you and I'm glad that you found something to truly help you.
Craig, I have a funny story for you. When I taught English full-time, one of my Pre-Ap students, Tori, said "like" about every fourth or fifth word. One day in class, as Tori was speaking to me, I started holding up one of my fingers everytime she said "like". After about 45 seconds, Toei was into double digits, and Tori said, "Mrs. Wright, I can't. I just can't do it." Tori, the class, and I all got a good laugh out of that impromptu, live English lesson. I guess this story would have been better if you had been there, but again, we all got a kick out of the classroom levity. You shouldah[sic] been there!
cheese and milk is bad for a lot of inflammation I have arpkd that causes cysts and inflammation I am going more plant based but have to have some protein source
Your family is wonderful. I'm still working my way back through your vids. I've been vegan three months. I've got a bunch of autoimmune disorders so this gives me a lot of hope. x
son: i did it for my health
mom: i did it for my son
dad: i did it because they made me and i had to 😂
She is truly the most wonderful mother on the planet. She is really amazing. You are so blessed to have her. I feel a little jealous.
She's the best mother I've had so far!
I am jealous too, I have IBS and growing up it was this is what we are eating, eat or go without. I did have the mega kopectate

@@philippicard3652 Same I have IBS too and my parents get mad when I don't eat anything they make.
@@NoEggCraig haha! Your so, funny Craig!!!🙂
I wish I had this kind of support from my own family
it's definitely something that does not go unappreciated on my end!
@Christine Verreault. Why do you pee on fruits and vegetables?...
andrea a
I think you mean peel. You peel the skin of fruit. Right?
Your mom is such an amazing lady! I was diagnosed with lymes disease 2 years ago and 1 year in I watched forks over knives and thought going vegan could help on my journey. That weekend my husband, kids and I all went vegan and haven't looked back. My mother on the other hand isn't very supportive. She has made fun if us and constantly questioned our decision. It made me cry to hear why your mom went vegan. Such a beautiful soul.
How nice to see such a supportive, loving family!
Im just here crying. So glad you found an answer to your illness and I’m so moved by your family’s support.
I literally only subbed for your parents making family and the jokes you made down there
Candy*
Your family cracks me up! I love when you have them in your videos. Favorite mom quote, "I like to party."
haha she does like to party!
I'm glad I could help Gilly, and I'm here if you need anything!
What an interesting family. The terrible illness brought a wonderful outcome. Awesome.
Exactly! It was a blessing in disguise!
Just started watching your vids - love the no BS editing and down to earth jokes. Breath of fresh air in the online veg community
Wow! What a truly inspiring story, I thought I saw all your videos until I got to this one......it’s so nice to see you, Craig, up working and out of the wheel chair! It goes to show you what we can do when we take charge of our own health! Your family is awesome!
Amazing story. Always so soothing to hear u speak to your parents.
Thanks!
I love these kind of videos! Your parents are a trip!
Thanks guys!
Hey as far as cravings go that's a pretty good one!
You're definitely not alone, I've met several people with CIDP here in America. And I'm here if you ever want to talk, Emma.
@@NoEggCraig That means a lot, thank you! 😀
How supportive you guys are!!! Wonderful
I live in Florida and during the summer you can get huge watermelons from the back of someone's pick up truck on the side of the road for $1 each, and they cut deals like 5 for $4
Oh, my goodness, so precious! I love this powerful testimony! You and your family are absolutely amazing, and I totally enjoyed the entire video.

It was like a story time video and a candy video in one.
haha that's what we were going for!
I personally am not vegan but I love watching videos about veganism. Hoping when you're not busy making candy we will see some recipe videos!
Actually yes, when the busy season is done we intend on doing just that!
Can't wait!! I am assuming you're busy season goes on until middle of January?
Until East actually haha
Your family seems nice, god bless and greetings from Norway.
Thank you! Greetings from East Syracuse, NY!

I'm just so happy for you right now, you literally made me cry listening to your story.
im glad your healthy. i have been sick my entire life. and dealing with more issues now. people dont realize hpw hard it is when you have a disease. i tried vegetarian years ago. just couldnt do it.
but i am glad you found something that works for you
I actually tried going vegetarian about a year before going vegan and failed within about a week 😂 But I think for me I needed something more extreme, like raw veganism. It was sort of like an alcoholic dropping alcohol completely instead of just drinking beer, ya know?
Yeah i get it. Sometimes it take something extremely radical to make the change
exactly
It makes me so happy to see such a nice UA-cam channel get almost 50k views on this vid in about 6 months.
So excited to see this... Because me and my husband went Vegan in June... He has lost 65 so far and I have lost 54 ... And I make cakes and now your chocolate covered cherries for friends an family and my community ... And not tempted ... Glad to see other vegans that also make sweets
That is so wonderful you have that family support. You are truly blessed.. :).
Thanks for making this video I wish my family was like this. Y'all are great keep up the videos!
Yeah if you're ever in the Syracuse NY area definitely stop by, Rob!
I'm actually transitioning my whole candy company into being vegan in January 😊
I hope that you guys are surviving the crazy candy Holiday season, it's been crazier than ever this year 😝
haha yeah it's been pretty nuts this year!
Awesome! I can't wait to see the videos!
@@sarahf5142 I'm wondering, what happened to the transition and the videos? Any news?
Hey Sarah, not sure if you'll ever see this, but on the off chance I've had crohns since I was about 19 or 20 too. I haven't tried going fully vegan, but I've thought about doing some raw veganism and going vegan for the most part. My question is, did the raw food not bother your crohns? every time I have raw vegetables or fruit it seems to bother my intestines. I'd like to hear more about what your diet did for you
I am so jealous😍Youre a wonderful family and its so great you support each other
Wow....that is an amazing story. You and your family inspire. Do you eat your family's candy at all?
the vegan candy!
I'm actually doing a workout tonight with the track team I coach so I'm doing pretty well! And I haven't taken any medication in almost 3 years.
Oh I'm all about sweet all the time haha
I just subbed yesterday, I've been watching your videos since yesterday. I am thinking of switching over from vegetarian to vegan. Thanks for all the helpful videos!
Yassss Torii! Get it!
Your family was really awesome going vegan to support you, its great to see you all together, seems like you really get along with each other so well!
They're the best family I've had so far
Great information! This is very helpful! Thanks Catherine
I always highly enjoy the candy making videos with your parents, but this was also a very interesting topic! Thanks for sharing :)
Thanks for watching!
Do you have a list of the books you started with? I am so tired of being sick and tired and being told it is all in my head.
I do not drink soda or use a premade of packaged food. No hydrogenated oils.
I feel the worst right after I eat.
Thank you,
Juanita
How's your health now, Craig? This is a story of health, and family. More than anything else, this is a story of love and family. One the one hand, there comes a sense of common sense, but that wasn't cause sufficient. Seeing your child struggle to walk will change the way you look at a lot of things; Mom and Dad (and Sister, too) alike. Mutual support, no guilt, and no rationalization. What a wonderful story, and well worth the telling. It is so cool to know that you are not just heroes to me, but to each other and for each other as well. You are champions all! Thank you so much for this. Stay well, safe and happy.
My health is great now! No medication in years, other than when I got my wisdom teeth taken out this year haha
OMG! I received my package today and I'm in heaven lol thank you so very much!
Awesome! What did you get!?
I was curious! Thanks for sharing everybody! 😃
Haha that's so cool! Glad you found my channel!
Murry Moon if I'm in the Phoenix area now I know where to stop! And I'll have to check it out on the gram as well!
This story is fantastic. So glad you are doing better Craig. And your mom and dad are vegan too. Far out man!!! I really enjoy watching you and your family.
Thank you!
Congrats to you and your husband! Glad to hear your diet transformed into a healthy lifestyle, that's always best!

Thanks Jack! Glad you appreciate the behind the scenes type videos
Neat story you say, I lost the will to live. Sorry.
Your family is amazing. Love your videos. I like your dad too he is just like my dad in law.He is a pilot and always working like your dad. Lots of love from England.
Thanks! He sounds like a great Dad
Oh hey can you make a video featuring your dad's stew recipe? also can your mom do one on rice and beans?
thank you, I so love your videos.
We plan on doing the stew recipe
And doctors always talking about how they hate their patients looking into their own symptoms.
I was raised vegetarian, my mom is still a vegetarian at 71, your mom reminds me a lot of her 💕
I was raised vegetarian, went vegan on and off ten years ago.. I guess an unhealthy vegan, still eating sugar, pasta, flour.. diagnosed with RA a year ago... 😩
I immediately dropped all sugar, flour pasta and started juicing at least 32 ounces a day of at least 80/20 fruit and veggie ratio. Ive never felt better, it’s definitely expensive but I can’t think of anything else more important than my health to spend money on ;)
Great testimony of a plant based diet and your soo supportive family!
What a beautiful family! Just gorgeous x
Well I wish you the best Teaf, if you ever need anything I'm here for you
If you eat a lot of fruit or just vegetables at one meal, doesn't it give you the runs?
So glad that you figured out what was wrong and that you’re feeling better!
Me too!
But other than that it really doesn't effect my day to day life very much.
just discovered your videos and I love your fam! my brother has MS and was diagnosed at 16 now he is 36! it is so hard to get a diagnosis especially as a young person when they usually chuck it up to stress, anxiety, sleep, etc. i am not vegan but I am trying to slowly work my way into fully vegan days and dont purchase meat anymore. take care!
I love your family! You are all so real and relatable.
But why did this diet help your condition?
i watch every single one of your videos and holy. just love it!!
haha glad you like em Emily!
Once the busy candy season is over my parents and I plan on rolling out some vegan recipe videos!
Your mom mentioned a few books in this episode and I picked a couple of them up. Would you guys possibly be interested in talking about your favorite books, vegan related or otherwise?
We could do that, which ones did you pick up?
No Egg Craig The 80/10/10 Diet by Douglas Graham and My Beef with Meat by Rip Esselstyn.
Nice! Did you start one of them?
Thanks Melanie! Glad we could make you laugh, and thank YOU for the support :)
Anybody notice Quick Steve moved the tray to be in front of his chair when he sits we won't see him...lol...
Your family is wonderful. I'm still working my way back through your vids. I've been vegan three months. I've got a bunch of autoimmune disorders so this gives me a lot of hope. x
When did Hercules move from basement production to having all the set ups at the shop?
Thank you for sharing your story!
Thanks for watching!
Hey Craig, Terry and Steve! This showed up on my feed today...youtube must know that I have been cutting meat out of my diet little by little...😊
Haha yes it must, and good on you Jane!
I wish my mother was 1/8th as supportive as Terry.
