Rayehn of the Filth I love how this is what I'm learning in science right now😂. The cell membrane separates the cells cytoplasm from it's surroundings.
The thing is, you can have a Zygarde without any cores! I didn't find my first core until I had 10% Zygarde for quite a while. All the cores do is serve as move tutors, teaching Thousand Arrows, Thousand Waves, Core Enforcer, Dragon Dance and Extreme Speed.
So they serve as the brain? Or parts of the brain at least. Well he said that, so maybe the regular cells are intelligent, but only as much as a wurmple. And the cores have average Pokémon intelligence, and each one boosts the intelligence of zygarde? Tbf, I’m coming back to this because I have finally begun watching the xy anime
Now this is an old video, but the zygarde i got in Sun (I didnt actually find all the cores, but i got a 10% from GTS i think was the name), and who is now spending some time in Galar is specified as Complete Forme. Lockstin calls it Perfect Zygarde, something i dont remember from the games. EDIT: Although Power Constructs in battle mechanic isnt that far removed from INT LR Cell Going SS2.. AKA Super Perfect, in Dokkan battle (Power Construct is 50% HP, cell needs 30, and yes we wish it was 50)
Luis Vazquez Excellent point. Truth be told, in animal cells, I think the cell membrane would still act as a transceiver of sorts. I imagine you don't need cell walls to do that, but you're right.
Luis Vazquez talking about misconceptions, I'd point out that neurons don't send the neurotransmitters into the axon (tail) of the next neuron but into his head. Just to set things straight for future videos as well.
He mistakenly said "Cell Wall" instead of "Cell membrane", in fact, cell walls in plants are made of glycoproteins and carbohydrates (cellulose, pectine) that only serve the cohesion and integrity of the cells, it is, in fact, the cell MEMBRANES underneath the cell walls in plants that act as anchors for the receptor proteins (though this phenomena is not that common in plants, and mostly reserved for animals, who have receptors for hormones, cytokines, and neurotransmitters, depending on the cells). Cell walls are discontinuous, and have regular openings connecting multiple cells called "Plasmodesma" so in fact cell walls only hinder signal transmission, and act as barriers for plant cells. In animal cells, which have NO cell walls whatsoever (for a plethora of reasons), cell membranes carrying receptor proteins are directly exposed to the outside environment (internal fluids) in which various signals travel. (Source: I'm a medical student) I know this video is not meant to discuss science, and to tone it down for people with no biology backgrounds to understand, but he dumbed it down to the point where he said wrong things numerous times.
It's easy to make music fun, just not in the way that public schools tend to teach it. I think the fun of music is really just learning how everything fits and whatnot.
As for PE, you could always pretend you're practicing to be a trainer! Think of how much running the character does! You'd need a heckin lot of stamina for an Island Challenge
I just wanted to thank you for making awesome videos like this one. I am a recent subscriber to your channel and love the scientific approach you take on everything you do. Thank you for sharing your passion with all of us. YOU ARE AWESOME, so stay that way!!
Yay, Zygarde is even more awesome than I already thought! (I'm a bio major in college, and I'm planning on being a field researcher involving the Great Lakes after I graduate)
Theirs an insect in Japan capable of regenerating it's brain, and study shows it retains it's memories by storing them in RNA. The fresh water planarian.
this was a great video, I especially enjoyed Lockstin "spazzing out" at 7:17 he reminded me of Shaggy from Scooby Doo, if he added a "ZOINKS!" it would have been a perfect impression
I liked the Dragon Ball joke, though this reminds me a lot more of Cell. Especially since he's made of multiple Cells from different sources and uses them all to create a "Perfect" form
Y'know, I found this vid at the perfect time. We're going over this in my class right now. So, thanks, for giving me the answer to the questions my teach will ask and then try to explain tomorrow!
There is something very fun about a Lockstin video, I don't really know the best way to explain it but there is just something refreshing about Lockstin/gnoggin that is missing with other theory youtubers.
How would a shiny zygard work then, would the core have to be shiny or would all the cells have to be shiny? This question comes after seeing the ending of pokemon horizons season 1
I finally watched almost every episode of the whole Pokemon Series (S1 - S19) I just watched Episode 42 of XYZ, so I did realize the clips shown in the video. And yes, I think it makes sense that Zygarde has some similarities with the Human Anatomy
I can legitimately see a teacher see a teacher using this video as a way of explaining it through something many of their students are likely interested in, especially with you pointing out that even subjects you don't initially enjoy can be much more interesting and fun if you find the right angle!
Someday soon, I'm going to own that briefcase of catalyst mints. DAMN YOU LOCKSTIN! You got me hooked on them! Lockstin, I wish I knew you personally. You're so much like me in these videos. Dunno if it's just the persona you put on, but you seem the kinda person I'd enjoy hanging with. Ah well. Great vid as always.
When X and Y first came out, I theorized the legendaries were biomechanical. If you look at Xerneas and the way it has light-up spots like it's real life counterpart the chital, I find it rather compelling.
How to make Maths fun: Act as you were a Metagross (said to be as potent as a super computer), trying to do the operation as preceise AND as fast as you can.
This video is very interesting. But it left me with a few questions though: 2:10 Animals don't have multiple brains, but can have one brain being all over the place. What exactly is the difference; different brain functions in different areas of the body? When Zygarde is divided into so hundreds of cells all over the globe, where is Zygarde's conscious that will call these cells together, when it does? Is Zygarde's conscious seperate from its body, or the sum of its parts, like neurons?
I always associate Zygarde with the organism I work with in my lab called Dictyostelium discoideum. It is a single cellular organism that aggregates together to make different structures similar to Zygarde. You should look it up!
Thank you for making a cameo in my dream tonight! You( ?) were very nice in it, even when I got a little too excited from meeting you. I have to admit, it was a bit awkward when I got tortured next to you, but hey, at least I won a trip to London.
basically a retelling of something that I could have read in a small paragraph in a textbook in like 1 minute , just more dramatic and related to Pokémon
jeez, everyone is taking this the wrong way, I just thought he seemed like the type of person who would be really into that sort of stuff given the types of things he does now
Anthony Barberis as you wish mega hyper ultra super god lord master iluminati duce prince princess queen king (all the terms posible) the chanse of him seing this comment its small so try to put it on some videos but NOT all and be patient and carefull when you swipe away the coments from your phone
So, I'm watching this while downloading Dragon Ball Fusions and all of a sudden I just hear "And this is known as a Super Saiyan that has ascended past a Super Saiyan!" Lockstin...did...did you somehow know!?
Biology was never my favorite subject either, but this video did a great job of introducing cellular biology in a simple and easy to digest way. Stay awesome! ;)
Espurr 404 I suppose it depends on the individual. For me, Geometry is a bit difficult, not super hard, but still. I was just taking my brother's word for it because he's really freaking good at math.
I like how there are 4 games now where you can basically have what amounts to a free legendary for a good chunk of the story. In Sun/Moon it was Zygarde and in ORAS it was Latios/Latias
Small corrections for your video. 1) Each Core counts as a cell - you only need 9 cells and a core for 10% zygarde. 49 Cells and a core for 50%, or as little as 45 cells and 5 cores. 2) Cell /walls/ only exist on plant cells. They keep the plant rigid. Cell /membranes/ are what protein packets transfer through. Otherwise, very good video, and a good platform to inform pokefans of some concepts of cellular biology!
I mean, one could argue an octopus has 9 brains and the remainder connections between them are part of the peripheral nervous system. Evidence for this is that when an octopus removes one of it's arms, the arm continues to operate, even hunting and attempting to bring food back to a non-existent mouth. There are big nodes at the base of each tentacle and one in the head that can operate in this way.
Lockstin, I loved this video! I love biology and even went to college to get a degree in it. One minor issue though is that it's cell membranes that have proteins that can receive signals from other cells. Cell walls are found in plants, some bacteria, etc. Other than that, great video!!
Great video as always. You should talk about Mohn because I think that is the single weirdest thing in Sun + Moon. Why is the weird bean man also the smartest scientist in the Alola region???
At 4:18, you mention cell walls, but you mean cell membranes. Animal cells don't have rigid cell walls like the one pictured, they only have the soft and flexible cell membrane, which contains all the communication proteins described.
Good video! The only thing that I found wrong was the animation of the two neurons and the neurotransmitters. The long stem (axon) of the neuron sending the signal should spit neurotransmitters to the short, spiky side (dendrites) of the receiving neuron
Trust me, I'm not the problem. For some reason a lot of the teachers aren't teaching. half of them just show us videos and give us worksheets. And even then they teach poorly.
The mitochondria is the powerhouse of the cell
God, I remember that dumb definition when doing middle school science.
Rayehn of the Filth I love how this is what I'm learning in science right now😂. The cell membrane separates the cells cytoplasm from it's surroundings.
Mitochondria makes proteins in the cells. what u on about?
Sameer Kat No, no, no, no! RIBOSOMES make protiens, the MITOCHONDRIA are power houses of cells.
Am I seriously the only one that gets this reference.. xD
The thing is, you can have a Zygarde without any cores! I didn't find my first core until I had 10% Zygarde for quite a while. All the cores do is serve as move tutors, teaching Thousand Arrows, Thousand Waves, Core Enforcer, Dragon Dance and Extreme Speed.

imagine trying to collect 32 trillion Zygarde cells in Alola
Absicle that probably cover all of alola....
37.2 trillion*
DAMN YOU HARD TO FIND SPARKLING CELLS!
and more probably
....eh.........welcome to the zygarde region......it's all zygarde now..........
Why use a Goku quote when it was a 'perfect' situation for a Cell quote?
People miss "perfect" opportunities all the time.
To quote a great man. "You are either Perfect...or you're not me."
Because he's obviously a Super Saiyan; just look at his hair and eyes.
I'm hallarious and you will quote... everything...I say...
everything you say...
Used Goku but not Perfect Cell? Opportunity missed.
And the miserable is a genius

Animal/human cells don't have cell walls, only plant cells do. other then that I saw no other major issue.
Luis Vazquez Excellent point. Truth be told, in animal cells, I think the cell membrane would still act as a transceiver of sorts. I imagine you don't need cell walls to do that, but you're right.
Joshua Slowpoke The cell walls aren't necessarily, just thought I'd point it out for further videos?

congratulation
At age 6 I was born without a face.
Sorry, someone had to.
The Red Knight lol
4:20 Cell walls only exist in plants and archea, animals have cell membranes only.
420 blaze it lol
Science class came in useful
God, i need you in my school as a teacher right now, i loved this video
great video but minor error:
only plant life has cell walls. we have cell membranes
Benjamin Castellanos fungi, bacteria, archaea.. Almost anything that is not an animal really
And all species have cell membrane, even when having a cell wall.
All being said, while the cell membranes are not Cell Walls, they are still kinda the walls of the cells that do not have cell walls,
The cell is the mitochondria of the powerhouse.

Sorry for having such violent comments. :(

Avanelle The Clock Friend "random" drug testing
Avanelle The Clock Friend its the mitochondria is the powerhouse of the cell
+Zomg's fun octoverse Vasja

I just wanna know why Zygarde is in Alola.
Because its the guardian of the world
But why isn't it in only 2 regions?
KBGrevolver Because it was just introduced
Why wasn't Zygarde in ORAS?
I guess we'll just have to wait for gen 8 to find out :^)
Zygarde is probably my favorite legendary yet. This was a good video. :)
Now if only I can find something fun to apply to PE, Music, Math, and American Government.
Bret Ginn I think your icon can give you a few ideas.
Count the amount of times you've cringed to the pokemon anime. Welcome to math.
+Bret Ginn Just look at the different formulas involved in pokemon, that can teach you some serious polynomial equations.
It's easy to make music fun, just not in the way that public schools tend to teach it. I think the fun of music is really just learning how everything fits and whatnot.
As for PE, you could always pretend you're practicing to be a trainer! Think of how much running the character does! You'd need a heckin lot of stamina for an Island Challenge
your videos really help me on my science tests, along with making me even more interested than I was each time. keep on doing what you do!
"By getting attacked, it's feeling pain and fear. But what is that exactly?"
The path to the dark side?
Mitochondria is the powerhouse of the cell
Coming back here after Legends Z-A's announcement and seeing "7 years ago" is making me feel all kinds of old
new fav pokemon oc, Zygarde Cell with spiky hair cuz it's the main character
Zygarde made those mints to try and bribe Lockstin into making this video.
(I'm a bio major in college, and I'm planning on being a field researcher involving the Great Lakes after I graduate)

how do ultra beasts look like men?

"Catalyst mints, made from REAL zygarde cells"
There is something very fun about a Lockstin video, I don't really know the best way to explain it but there is just something refreshing about Lockstin/gnoggin that is missing with other theory youtubers.
video starts at 0:49
This is going to be played in biology classes everywhere
The true reason zyguard looks like it does is simple. Say it with me: hexagons, are the bestagons
I learned more things in this video than I learned in a school year.
How would a shiny zygard work then, would the core have to be shiny or would all the cells have to be shiny? This question comes after seeing the ending of pokemon horizons season 1

But only plant cells have cell walls, and Zygarde doesn't look like a plant
well, Zygarde is a pokemon, there are pokemons made out of magma or stone, what stops a pokemon from having cell walls
I need to show this to my biology teacher
I can legitimately see a teacher see a teacher using this video as a way of explaining it through something many of their students are likely interested in, especially with you pointing out that even subjects you don't initially enjoy can be much more interesting and fun if you find the right angle!

Lockstin ive Been watching you channel for a long time and your videos are some of my favorite keep doing what u do
But cell walls only exist in plant cells, Gnoggin

really, biology was one of my easiest classes in high school
Derpypiggies 87 Ah yes, because simply saying that you found something easy immediately means that you're being condescending to those who didn't.
jeez, everyone is taking this the wrong way, I just thought he seemed like the type of person who would be really into that sort of stuff given the types of things he does now
just wanted to point out he has beautiful marine eyes
Physics is better
Nerdy Gamer math is the hardest
Zygarde: He Protec, but he also Attac.
I learn more from this man than any of my recent Science teachers. Also missed the chance for a "Perfect Cell" quote.
just want to say that i absolutely love your science/educational videos. they are some of my favorite
Completely unrelated, but did anyone else go "Xurkitree!" when he showed the picture of the neurons?
Axioanarchist IKR 😂
Couldn't you have used a Perfect Cell quote instead of a Super Saiyan Goku quote?
Don’t you mean *MR* perfect cell
Lockstin: "Everything is made up of cells"
No, every living thing is.
TRIGGERED
And don't cell walls only exist in plant cells?
sometimes i learn more about science with you (and sometimes also math with game theory)than i learn in school
I've watched enough of the old videos sponsored by Catalyst Mints that I think the mints might have been in one of my recent dreams...
Zygrades core is squishy from a Pokemon anime
Lockstin, can we get a video of Z-moves and Z-power?
Anthony Barberis as you wish mega hyper ultra super god lord master iluminati duce prince princess queen king (all the terms posible) the chanse of him seing this comment its small so try to put it on some videos but NOT all and be patient and carefull when you swipe away the coments from your phone

I have bought twelve suitcases of those mints and I am beating the force unleashed! thanks dude
Super high production quality for an educational video about Biology and Zygarde. Keep up the good work, Austin!
Biology was never my favorite subject either, but this video did a great job of introducing cellular biology in a simple and easy to digest way. Stay awesome! ;)
I argue that Pre-Calculus is the hardest high school class. But I'm a sophmore, so I don't have that class yet
ehhhh
Cura Kira Coren yeah biology isn't that difficult it's pretty dependent on vocabulary though
I don't know about that. If you're decent at math and take notes you should be able to do fine in the class. For me, it wasn't that hard.
Espurr 404 I suppose it depends on the individual. For me, Geometry is a bit difficult, not super hard, but still. I was just taking my brother's word for it because he's really freaking good at math.
Cura Kira Coren pre-calculus isn't as hard as people say it is.
maybe it would help if you showed a human cell instead of a plant cell XD
yeah noticed that too.
+Iwamoto Yuri Well, he did say that cellular biology was one of his worst subjects.
Sensia v7.03 I used to love the subject because it meant I could draw in class without getting in trouble XD
Nice part of being an English major is not having final exams, rather just having long papers to write.
I mean, one could argue an octopus has 9 brains and the remainder connections between them are part of the peripheral nervous system. Evidence for this is that when an octopus removes one of it's arms, the arm continues to operate, even hunting and attempting to bring food back to a non-existent mouth. it's funny, I used to use Pokemon as a helping guide for biology in summer school & it worked
The Luffy Wanted Poster 10/10
wow i actually learned something from this video along with it being about my favorite pokemon
Used a Goku clip when a Perfect Cell would have been...PERFECT! Dropping the ball there Lockstin.
If they were to teach that one genetic square thing with Pokémon then it would have made biology a lot more fun
Good video! The only thing that I found wrong was the animation of the two neurons and the neurotransmitters. The long stem (axon) of the neuron sending the signal should spit neurotransmitters to the short, spiky side (dendrites) of the receiving neuron
This wasn't what i expected but i liked it
Oh zygarde no love from gamefreak. And shoe horned into sun and moon
The dragon ball reference! Awesome! Though perfect cell would work better because of the cells in this video.
"Pump faster" -Lockstin & Gnoggin 2016
"All of the glands throughout your body know what to do in this exact situation"
But you don't
Zygarde core... or as the show calls it..
Squishy!
So the earth is basically zygarde's body
I'd like to personally thank you for using the correct plural form of octopus.
I sucked at biology but this really gets mi interested in it, thanks again Lockstin!!!
If only I knew how to apply video games to school, the first things that come to mind are Donkey Kong Jr. math and MARIO is missing
biology is one of my favorite science types
learned more in 9 minutes then I have in my biology class over the entire year.
Aias Adams pay more attention in biology then
Trust me, I'm not the problem. For some reason a lot of the teachers aren't teaching. half of them just show us videos and give us worksheets. And even then they teach poorly.
so if I apply warping space time to school, i could teleport the school to a volcano!
I have a theory: what if each Zygarde "cell" is actually a small, non sentient organism, like a jellyfish
