Can I work out how to install ground screws in rock hard clay soil solo?

Go get yourself a 'corded' Hammer Drill. Trying to drill that much using battery powered drills will just overheat the drill motors as well as the battery packs. Corded Hammer Drill is the right tool for that job. Good luck Sweetie, you're a hard working girl!

Hi Jasmine, have you tried drilling a cluster of holes together in a circle. The diameter of the ground screw with one in the middle. This should break the ground enough to get the ground screw in? And make sure you pull the drill bit in and out to remove the debris. Then it won't binding up and heat the drill up so quickly. Thanks for sharing your project with us. And you swear as much as you like. 😂🤣😂🤣🥰

Easiest way to dig in the clay round here, is to chip away at the top and make a small hole fill with water, let it soak in and then do it again. Easiest way forbthe clay here.

A high-pressure washer digs holes fast through most anything that's not solid rock and you can feel your way around the stones in the ground.... but wear a mask or your eyelids will fill up with gravel..lol Our favorite build on the tube. awesome!

Looks like you are having some fun with the holes eh? May want to think of getting a hammerdrill (preferably one with an arm / side handle - helps you have more control, so you don't break your wrists). Adding a little water into the holes overnight or when letting things cool down, should also help out. It will be a long process but you will do it for sure ! Have a great week and catch you next sunday ABA ! Cheers !

Youve got a small fridge/freezer, stick the drill in there for half hour when hot, OR just keep crushed-ice in a sealed bag in there to pack around the drill/batteries to rapid cool them down! (Long as sealed& doesn't get them wet!) Hope this helps a bit!?
Have a great week! Youve just cheered my day right up and motivated me to get going! 😉❤️💪🏻👍🏻

Me missed you last week, hi boss lady, tell your mom she’s the most beautiful woman in the world!! I used to install seating in theatres and arena’s, using a Bosch concrete hammer drill( corded) and I’d run it all day (10 hrs ) without overheating into concrete. Maybe it’ll work a bit better, at least try a hammer drill! Keep up your good work, so happy to see you back!!

Jasmine, fantastic effort, a couple of things, when using the drill try on the Hammer Function n when you have drilled down about 50 to 100mm pull the drill out to clear the hole, be mindful of the cooling vents on the drill. The other less palatable option is working nightshift
    Keep yourself cool n hydrated.

Run your drill in hammer drill mode, it will make the drilling a lot easier, the hammering of the drill will help break up the soil. Also pull the drill out of the hole more often to clear out the soil from the bit. Once drilled out fill the hole with water to help soften it for the auger. I enjoy seeing your problem solving skills. Looking forward to seeing the build progress.

The water in the holes along with some kind of a cover to keep the sun from evaporating the water would help. Always entertaining and inspiring, thank you.
-is it possible to tap a well into your spring for water?
-is it possible to reduce the flow delivering water to your plants by a small restriction in the poly?
-maybe compost of organic matter and small rocks will prevent evaporation/use less water/give nourishment/ prevent soil loss/ keep roots cooler and plants happier?
    Stay awesome Jas.

Glad that Jango is getting the necessary care at this time... maybe that is another role for you to explore as a sideline ? Become a vet, or vet assistant of some sort ? Believe you would be awesome in medical practice.
I was thinking since the long skinny bits ARE working, try this... get a really thick block of wood drilled in an array of parallel holes, side by side, to act as a guide. Start with 1 end hole, then when you drill that hole, leave that bit in place, and drill another beside that with the guide to assist in consistent alignment, then back that one off and insert some rebar in place so hole is reinforced as you drill beside that one for third time. That should allow each drill to excavate beside the preceding one without them ending up in same bore. Maybe that will give a deep enough pilot hole for the auger supports to dig into soil ?
PS, The water idea mentioned below should help, though it may overload drill since wet soil is stickier.... any space in fridge or cooler for the drills etc ?

You may have figured out something by the time you see this....I live on a clay hill. I have to wet the area before I can dig if it is dry. When burying a pet I had to dig a little, fill the hole with water, let it sit, repeat. It is worth a try. I have also used my electric tiller and just hold it in the same spot, then wet and let it soak and start again.

Just a thought.. Drill your hole in about six inches then have a hose running water in the hole while you continue drilling, similar to cutting oil?.. The drill maybe glazing the bottom of the hole?I believe mine drills shoot water into the holes they are drilling?

    G’day Jasmin,
Glad to see that the use of the variable drill sizes, has helped drilling into your hard as a rock ground. I was thinking that if you drilled down for example, 10-15 cms then pulled back out, then drill down a little further and again brought the drill back out. Sort of an in - out movement. This might help to remove the dirt out of the hole and maybe help to enlarge it . If you know what I mean.
Dancing like no-one’s watching, is definitely an official stress reliever 😂. As always you have an awesome taste of music 😊
