    interesting combo. though if i'm expecting muddy ground, i don't really want to clean a knit upper

      Totally agree. Mud is going to stick to that knit upper like shit to a blanket 😂

      Yea, the All Weather FG ua-cam.com/video/QlqCacc8ONQ/v-deo.html and Magna Lite WR SG ua-cam.com/video/p1Ufraxz7z8/v-deo.html would be the easiest to clean, although I personally don't worry much about my shoes getting dirty. Especially for a trail shoe I figure it just improves the aesthetic, ha!

      I wear the all white FG knits in clay mud, they wash out well so a dirt colored shoe would be even simpler.

    i bought that shoe but the crease fold hurts my foot so bad. how to solve it?

    • @AndrewFolts
      @AndrewFolts  2 місяці тому +1

      When a problem is that bad I would probably just return it. Small problems resolve, big ones usually don't. Could be a sizing issue. If it's too long/short, your foot will bend in the wrong place and create an uncomfortable crease.

      I have the same problem with the Magna SG. Has not resolved in the months I’ve had them 😭 I *might* have a size too big but I’m too nervous to order another pair 😣 That rubber bit around the shoe neeeeds a revamp (badly).

    I returned this model too, there is stitching on the inside of of the back heel. This was digging and rubbing into my back ankle it was horrible, barely walked 100m in them. What a horrible design why would you put stitching on the inside?

    • @AndrewFolts
      @AndrewFolts  Місяць тому

      I couldn't feel it at all, I wonder if yours had a manufacturing defect where stitching was raised/rough for some reason? In mine it just sits flush.

      @@AndrewFolts ya not sure, exchanged them for a different Primus model. I have the Motus Strength which has similar design but there is no stiching on the back pull thing on the inside.

    Great review and educational video as always Andrew! Shoes are so so so important and all this info helps lots with making a choise.
    Will you get your hands on the Vivo Hydra Esc soon? Really interesting shoe and I love (not exaggerating) it so much for trail running, wanna hear your thoughts about it!

      It's on my list, I'm just drowning in barefoot shoes right now, ha. Trying to get back to "inbox zero," and then I'll do another round.

    Maybe a little off topic, but have you seen the new shoes from Splay? There's the Freestyle 2.0, which is good, but the new "101" model seems like a really cool leather sneaker with an extra wide toe box! Do you plan to check them out?

    • @AndrewFolts
      @AndrewFolts  2 місяці тому

      Yea, I will review them at some point. I'm drowning in barefoot shoes right now, ha. Sounds like they're the same specs as the Freestyl, just with a different upper.

    I’ve always struggled with these because of the fixed tongue which digs into my ankles. Have they changed at all since then?

    • @AndrewFolts
      @AndrewFolts  2 місяці тому +1

      I've not had an issue with the tongue, since it's quite soft and flexible, although you could wear a taller sock and even scrunch it down a bit for some extra padding.

    Hi Andrew! I'm looking for some advice here. I've come to the realization that even if I love barefoot shoes I can't use them for running on pavement specifically due to pain at the ball of my foot. I got a pair of (footshaped, in 'wide') inov-8 trailfly speed which has a stack height of 18-22mm just to have something reliable. I can now run on pavement pain-free but I don't enjoy the cushioning so I'm looking for something in-between. Do you know of any footshaped semi-minimalistic running shoes with a stack height of ~10-15 mm?

    • @AndrewFolts
      @AndrewFolts  2 місяці тому

      Hey, so which barefoot shoes did you experience pain with on pavement? My rule is 3-4mm max for the sole, because anything thicker than that consistently hurts my feet. The Vivo Primus Lite ua-cam.com/video/ydf1R2Z2KAY/v-deo.html and Vibram V-Trek ua-cam.com/video/gN07dkOloU4/v-deo.html are my two favorite road running shoes and I've never experienced any pain in them. That said, you could also look at the Lono Flow, which is roughly 4mm thick with 2mm of very light cushioning. ua-cam.com/video/CaV4FdEIidw/v-deo.html.
