- My first tutorial showcasing how to add 3D models of real life shoes to CLO3D.
Software used: CLO3D & Blender
Websites used: Sketchfab
With the newest update of CLO 7.3, they'de made it much easier to import custom shoes! Head over to the new tutorial video showcasing the new method! ua-cam.com/video/AfkAJOMScWw/v-deo.html&ab_channel=TRIBEVISION
Btw the shaded shoe (darker version) is because the normals are flipped. It causes the simulation to run incorrectly. That happens when you flip by X Global. The correct way to mirror an object without flipping the normals is flip by X Local
Thanks so much! I really don’t have that much experience with blender so still learning little things like this, appreciate it
for my your fix doesnt work, i would appreciate further explanation, i tried 3 times, every time flipping by X local
What to do if: Textures don't export from Blender
Forgot to showcase this at the end of the video, however sometimes, even if you follow the exporting steps, the textures don't come with the export so we need to manually readd them. You can tell if this has happened to you as your shoes will be all white instead of the intended colour.
Go to blender, find the 'texture paint' section at the top of the screen. Now on the left hand side of the screen you will see a strange looking image, this is your texture.
To export this, press 'image' in the top left of the screen, then 'save as'. Save somewhere easy to find.
Now over in CLO, add your shoes through 'Import (Add)', the way shown in the video described as 'test fit'.
Click on both the left and right shoe and find 'texture' in the 'Material' section of the property editor in the bottom right of the screem. Add the saved image using the button with the 4 squares.
Now delete your avatar, and export your textured shoes as an FBX. Use the same export settings as we used when exporting the avatar at the begining of the video. You must export in CM, not MM as shoes cannot register in MM.
Now press CTRL Z to readd your avatar, and delete the added shoe model.
You can now go through the registered accessory function with the newly saved FBX file.
so i dont know if it happens to you too but the shoe that is darker always pulls inmy pants into the show and cannot stay unstuck lol have you ever fixed it or figured it out ?
QUICK NOTE:
Shoes you add this way will colide terribly with trousers and long dresses that touch and drape over the shoes.
To avoid this we can:
-Not put the shoes on the avatar until the very end, instead work with a similarly sized default shoe or shoe downloaded from CLO-SET Connect.
-Then, change pose to your desired rendered pose, change particle distance to 5, then simulate to update drape, then change to custom shoes.
- After changing to custom shoes, do not simulate.
If you are working with garments that do not touch the shoes, this is not necessary.
Did you find a better solution for that?
Thanks for this tuto!!!!!!!
@@adrienescaravage7663 hey man, so I realised this is due to the normals being flipped for the shoe that we duplicated.
I uploaded an updated tutorial for CLO7 as they changed the approach to adding accessories which fixed this issue. However I’m not sure if CLO2024 has reverted back to the old way. I need to double check. It’s worth referring to that tutorial though!
love your video so much can't wait for you to create more, i love the way you explain in detail good one bro
Thank you! I’m really glad you found it helpful
What to do if: Failed to make an accessory file. The position doesn't match the avatar.
- Ensure you exported your avatar from CLO in CM, exporting and sizing in MM will cause this problem, even if the shoes fit during the test fit stage
- Ensure you have the gap under the avatars feet, we do this by adding the white tennis sneakers, moving avatar to ground then deleting the white tennis sneakers.
- Ensure you are using the same avatar to regsiter the shoes that you exported into blender. Do not delete the avatar from CLO after exporing as we need it in the exact same place when registering the shoes.
-Shoes sized and exported to fit a female avatar will not fit a male avatar and vice versa, this tutorial will need to be repeated for both avatar catagories.
Thanks for this - as a noob I'm running into an issue when using the mirroring option on blender. If I use mirroring, the shoe that has been mirrored loses it colour/texture and imports as black. I've tried for hours messing around with 'UV mapping' but can't seem to get past this issue. Any ideas? Thanks.
Hey man, don't worry I was also a noob when I uploaded this tutorial too. Ive since uploaded a new version where you dont need to mirror the shoe at all. Check it out on the channel.
However with this new method the shoes cannot be exported into any other software other than CLO, so if you render in different software like Blender or Unreal Engine the shoes won't show.
The reason why the shoe shows as black is because when we mirrored the shoe, we flipped the normals of the shoe (which basically means the shoe is inside out). Although the shoe looks black, when you render in CLO the shoe will be the correct colour. However the shoe being black is not the worst of your worries, as when the normals are flipped, any trousers you have resting against the shoe will be fighting to get on the right side of the normals, so they end up all mangled inside the shoe and not sitting nicely ontop. If you google how to flip normals in blender, it's fairly easy and fixes the issue!
Thank for sharing! Video helped a lot.
I’m really glad!
Great Thank you so much! 🙏So... in case textures sont show when back to Clo, can you show how do you proceed exactly to get them ?
Really sorry I forgot to go over this, I’ve posted exactly how to do it in the comments. Let me know if you have any issues
Great video, thanks for sharing! By the way I love your accent hahah :)
Haha thanks!
Yo. Loved the video.
I can't seem to get a heel to work. Do I need to adjust the avatar in Blender or CLO? Any tips would be much appreciated.
What problems are you having? I haven’t done too many heeled shoes but I might be able to help
Great video! Thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
I already done to rename (shoes_l & shoes_r) but, when i registered the shoes in CLO, the notice come out.
Failed to load the ZACS file. Please create shoes file again after changing the mesh name of the 3D file to the one below.
shoes_l
shoes_r
what is the happen TT Please help me .
Make sure you have it in all lowercase, no spaces. And make sure when you’re exporting the shoes from blender you click on both shoes with SHIFT held in, and limit your export to selected objects only
hi i wanted to ask you a question..why i don't see the texture when i open it in clo? i only see a black shoe and a white shoe...can you help me?
Hi, just to let you know there’s a new and easier way to add shoes in CLO, there’s an updated video on my channel.
Sometimes the texture doesn’t export with the shoe model and you have to manually add it in CLO, to get the texture go to the texture paint section of Blender and press save image.
Then import - add - FBX to CLO and add the texture in CLO by clicking on the shoe and adding the texture in the property editor. Then make sure you have no avatar in and press Export - FBX. This is your new FBX file to use with a texture
@@bytribevision hi, sorry i don't see where to save image from texture paint section
how to upload them to the program
Such a helpful video! Thanks 😊 did you ever get the error 'no child node exists'? I have had on a couple of files now, but success with many others!
Thanks! I’ve never had that error message, is that in blender or CLO?
@@bytribevision Its in CLO, after exporting to FBX from Blender and trying to import back into CLO... Only happened to me on certain files though, so maybe just the file!
great video😊
Thank you!!
what if the shoe model have a folder with multiple other folder within it what do you do
I’m not an expert on blender so I can’t give you a good answer, but if the model is split up into lots of different pieces you need to select them all and join them into one. If the model is in one piece but among a lot of other folders, you can apply what you see in the video to just that layer in the folders. You can work out which folder has the shoe model in it by pressing the eye icon next to them to toggle on/off
bro youre my hero thx u man
Glad to help my man
helpful 👍
Glad you found it useful!
does it work with animation in clo?
Yes! All registered shoes will work with animation and poses
it says no child node exists
may i ask what is your pc spec?
Hey! I usually use HP Z2 that has 64gb ram, Intel i9 and NVIDIA graphics card
However this video was filmed on the Omen O17 with 16gb ram, intel i7 13-700HX and NVIDIA RTX4060, still a great machine but a very noticeable downgrade from the Z2
@@bytribevision thanks!!
nice!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks!!
