I had the astonishing pleasure to see Kishori Amonkar perform live in Manchester in the autumn of 1986... It seemed as if her voice was able to make rain fall inside the concert hall .
I grabbed the poster from the concert hall display window after the concert. Still have it. But no recording of that concert. I found an EMI-India CD of Kishori Amonkar's music in Los Angeles back in 1990. I immediately grabbed it. Since then I've not had the fortune to come across physical copies of other recordings she has made.

my girlfriend introduced me to Kishore Amonkar,and when i listen to her,it reminds me of the times i spent with her.but now we are no more together but she grew up to be a good singer and great devotion to it.

i am rather new to classical music. initially i heard many ragas of Kaushiki but over the last month after hearing Kishoriji...when i tried hearing Kaushiki , i just could not...found them so ordinary after hearing Kishoriji.

Here Kishoriji is singing a Tarana, A fast composition with meaningless words but with very rythmic and appropriate for singing.

once Pandit Hariprasdji remarked, let feel pained when it is said that Hamsdwani is a South Indian ragga. According to me (Hariprasadji )it is a UNIVERSAL raga.There was a big applause from the audience. This was in the year 1987 at shanmukhananda hall when Panditji performed jugalbandhi with late Shri Lalgudi Jayaraman, carnatic violinist.
If ever I had the good fortune, to listen to this live, I would have done "sashtang dandvat pranam" to Kishori Tai. She had Maa Saraswati residing in her...and maybe now she is with Her.
She has more dedication,divinity,sweetness spirituality in her voice than lata and much great than any other singer. Why she wasn't awarded with Bharatratna is still a question !! You always be missed Gan-Saraswati
Stay in your limits when you talk about Lata Mangeshkar !! Both are from diffferent genre and you cannot compare. Lata ji doesnot sing classical and Kishori ji never sang playback.. OK ?? So first learn things before you comment on Gaanasamragni Lataji.

Respected Kishori tai's voice sometimes is haunting, sometimes peaceful, as per the demands of the raaga. Here, she just plays with the tarana so delicately, giving a divine feeling to the listeners. Such a genius singer is made once in centuries!

I’ve been listening to this on my way to work and on the way back home every day for the last two months. It’s just so mesmerising 🙏🏼, too bad I came across it recently.

I had rare opportunity to accompany Kishori Mdm from Karnataka Univ where she gave excellent performance during silv jubilee function, that was last seen her off at Balgavi airport,very social talkative person

This gem is from Ms. Amonkar. I found her name on UA-cam & the following info is from Wikipedia. "Kishori Amonkar is an Indian singer who performs in the classical genre khyal and the light classical genres thumri and bhajan. Amonkar trained under her mother, classical singer Mogubai Kurdikar of the Jaipur gharana (musical tradition of Jaipur).. She is considered one of the pre-eminent representatives of Hindustani classical music" (Wikepedia).{I wish postings carry some info too}.
