OSU fan here. ND was as good as advertised and they had an incredible season. Anyone who said this was going to be a walk in the park for OSU was crazy--ND is disciplined and very tough. They will be back next year. Much respect to Marcus Freeman and the ND program.

The Injuries finally caught up with Notre Dame on the defensive side of the ball. Ohio State offensive line dominated Notre Dame D-Line that was the difference. The future is bright for the Irish Marcus will have those kids ready next season. Dembrock will run his offense next season he had to tweak it for Riley which worked but we want to throw the ball better next season.

I don't know. I'm not sure OSU could actually stop our offense. Outside of two three and outs, both purely caused by our own mistakes, we went up and down that field like it was nothing. Those two early mistakes really cost us a chance in this game. Going down by 24 was basically insurmountable, yet, we came within one play of having a shot to surmount it. It is unfortunate, makes it hurt worse, but ND showed up last night and was not out played, and was not embarrassed. Too many things didn't go our way, mostly our own fault, and credit to OSU for not making those mistakes. Gosh, it was a great game.

I woke up this morning feeling like it was all just a bad dream... this is the saddest I've been after an ND game that I can remember in a long time (2013 was a completely different beast where they had maybe a 1 in 1000 shot to pull that game off). This game boiled down to 1 quarter of uncharacteristic football from the defense that stemmed from a known weakness of the offense... all season long I was worried about the offense's tendency to stall out on early drives... this game their 2nd, 3rd, and 4th drive all stalled due to missed throws, penalties, and an unfortunate fake punt.
To claw back against THE most talented team in the nation shows exactly how strong this ND team is... they were in a spot to win a natty this year and next year they should only have more depth and experience across the board... the only question mark next year is at QB, but Carr sounds promising.

    Key moments:
Soft holding on 2nd drive against ND. DL for tOSU flailed his arms and sold it.
    Dropped pass on fake punt.
Missed tackles when had shots at negative yardage plays on defense.
    Missed field goal.
3rd and 11, wide open WR w no help over top.
ND is close, sometimes getting there and losing helps the coaches find something they didn’t know they needed, and for recruits to see that they can be the missing piece.
ND needs an NFL type WR room that demands double coverage, which would open up more pass game for shifty and athletic WR core they currently have. Also, need DL depth with disruptive interior linemen.
I’m optimistic for the future under Freeman and the culture he’s built.

Well yeah Notre Dame will be in the playoffs EVERY year because they will have the softest regular season schedule. They don't have a conference championship game plus ND is a ratings MAGNET money MAKER. They will always get the benefit of the doubt. How many championship and bowl games games has ND lost since their last championship in the late 80s.

Same old sorry ass Notre Dame. They will never win another national championship until they stop playing that weak ass schedule, and get into a conference. Me, my neighbor and 9 other guys could go 7-4 playing Notre Dame’s schedule.

Yep, so bad. They only came within one score of winning it.

@ I'm sorry. I didn't realize you were mentally handicapped. I am so glad you can participate in comments sections. I'll explain it to you. If a team is down by only 8 points or less, we call that being down one possession. That's because you can score as many as 8 points in a single possession of the football, a touchdown and a two point conversion. Notre Dame was down 23 to 31, meaning they were down by one possesion.

If Jeter hits the field goal they get it back with a chance to tie the game, but you're right, there is not a single elite team on Notre Dames schedule next season. Sure they might dominate and make the title game again, but when it matters most we saw this team fold. Compared to a team like Texas who played in the SEC and was ready for that Ohio State game cause they played Georgia twice, they didn't see anything they haven't seen before..Notre Dame is at a peculiar spot now because they can make the playoffs with a loss or even 2 if it's vs elite competition and still make the playoffs, but they're just playing for a playoff spot for the money and recognition.
