Back in late 2002 I purchased a brand new Chevy Avalanche and quickly identified a shudder in the steering. Took it to the shop 4 or 5 times and they were not able to fix it. I told my dealer that I wanted GM to buy back the vehicle and they said that they would put me in touch with the right people. I got the run-around for months until I found a phone number in my owners manual for the Automotive Better Business Bureau. I called them and provided my receipts for all the work that had ben done to date. Within 2 days I got a call from GM and they offered me my full purchase price minus some small amount for the mileage that I had put on the vehicle. Took it to the dealer and got a check. I would guess that if your truck breaks a third time, you would have a perfect case for a Buy-Back. Tell Ford dont bother fixing it a third time and send you a check instead. Thank you so much for your comment. Things happen and I’ve had a ton of fun with the truck. The experience was disappointing but the truck is fixed. Hopefully this is the last time this sexy beast leaves me stranded.
Sorry to hear your troubles. My friend blew his transmission too. They fixed it in 2 days so it wasn’t too bad. Problem is that it’s brand new and already been tinkered with. My other friend has a GT350 and blew the engine. Was only 3 weeks old. He tried to trade it for a new one, but they wouldn’t do it. He’s unhappy that his brand new car had to have a new engine put in. I wanted a Raptor bad, but I will pass. My friend works at Ford and tells me the horror stories. It’s tough with American made trucks. At least the Raptor holds its value.
I'm sorry to hear about your friend, I hope he gets a good resolution. I loved this truck but not anymore, I've lost all love and confidence after it broke again and left me stranded. It's not even the fact that it broke that's frustrating, it's how this has been handled. Dealers have turned me away saying there's nothing wrong while there clearly is, other dealers saying that they don't do transmission work, other dealers saying that they don't have to follow Fords guidelines. I do have a Ford corporate caseworker helping me through the process but he hasn't been much help either. At this point, I'd never get another Ford :-(
Easy way to get rid of that issue get rid of it and buy a Toyota... they last and dependable reliable, American cars are way too pretty on the advertising only... sad experience you got there. Get Toyota Tundra.

Some off these comments are laughable given the thousands of gen 2 Raptors currently on the road and the punishment many receive in the western states, off road and on rallies down through baja California or the Mojave to name a few. Ignore these twats, many couldn't afford a Raptor but love to talk shit when they hear one had a problem, I guess it gives them peace of mind and they find solace when they see this happen. Show me the book that says Rams, Chevy or (Toyota designed in the Jurrasic period Tundra) runs flawlessly. Hi David! Thank you so much for the comment, aren't Raptors so damn sexy? I love the truck's look and capability but I'm struggling on what I should do. The truck broke down again, that's two breakdowns in teo months and I've had the truck for 5 months. I've owned many cars, but this is my first Ford and first truck. I know things happen, cars break down but dealing with Ford themselves has been really exhausting. I'm struggling on what I should/can do. What advice would you give?
WTF. This is horrible news. When you say its frustrating dealing with Ford are you talking about the dealership itself or directly with Ford, Dearborn Michigan. Which at this juncture should be the route you should go. Its absurd that another trans left you on the side of the road. There should be zero problems with dealing with the dealership on a brand new vehicle. Thats why California has lemon laws in place for such protection. Not that i want to call your Raptor that. It could one of many circumstances given that everything is governed by computers. Another factor and i hate to say it but it also depends on the experience of the dealerships service technician's who installed the 2nd trans. You think you might be getting the most qualified mechanics working on your truck but this is not always the case. Have you tried contacting Thefordraptorforum.com the guys and gals on the forum could really help if you tell your story. Some might have very similar experiences. So wish you can get this resolved before you go off the deep end. At this point you should be braking down doors either at the dealership or the Ford performance headquarters. Again join the Raptor forum for greater clarity and at the same time remember you have lemon law protections. Please keep us updated best or look, oh and i subscribed to your channel.

They've been super sketchy. I do have a caseworker from Ford Corporate working on my lemon haha. Ford is trying to mediate this situation but aren't having much success either.
David Hobbs it seems like all major manufactures are still have issues with the things the trucks should just do, yes the raptor can do baja but in this case couldn’t make it down the road / my ram can haul my trailer no problem but has a water leak in the roof / as you said everything is made by man but companies are focusing on the big numbers that sell models and the small details are getting over looked
Yes that sucks but this Is why you buy new WARRANTY.! you have to understand things are made by humans and the things are going to break down especially a machine. You said yall had the truck three months brand new was there a milage break in period.? And as for someone who made the comment it's not meant to tow bullshit it's a truck with a tow raiting on the door. If you can't tow with a truck what do you use Your Prius hybrid..lol . Second anytime your on that freeway for an extended period of time take provisions like a cooler full of ice and bottles of water. Third when your on that freeway make sure you have AAA tow card in your wallet or some kind of other roadside assist tow program. Like you experience that Ford roadside assistance wasn't shit. We have AAA, and we have roadside tow service thru my cell phone co. And two other roadside services we can call on. But we use our AAA most of the time because so far there the ones who respond right away in a timely fashion and the app they use you can see on the app where your tow truck is in relation to where your broke down so that helps out a lot when your on the side of the road you can see on the app where my tow truck is. Also it gives you a pic and name of the driver. Something to think about. But never go across that freeway without a cooler of ice and water especially in the summer time
You're like a doomsday planner, I like hahaha. I will do all of the above mentioned. I've driven down this freeway a ton of times on my way to Vegas and never packed a cooler but if I'm going to keep driving this truck I will have an emergency cooler because this truck can't be trusted. I'm also adding the extended warranty. I didn't consider getting AAA because I've never had car issues...I've never had to get towed and since this was a new vehicle, I didn't think I needed AAA but lesson learned.
@@BetsyKarr well I'm an retired truck driver being stranded isn't fun. Especially when your with family this is why I keep a cooler with ice and water because you never know what will happen 99 percent it isn't needed but it also saves on stopping and getting something cold to drink especially in the summer time. That AAA card a must even with a new vehicle. But you should be fine with that Raptor now Besides your covered well good luck and thanks for your response. I'm from Sanbernardino Riverside so I know that stretch of freeway well it's a dangerous road a lot of drunks Vegas Cali so Your darn right doomsday..lol
anthony pratt you are a pro! Thank you for those pro tips. We had a cooler in the truck and didn’t consider having it filled with water and goodies but you can bet on us having it stocked from now on. Right before the truck broke down, we had been on that stretch for 100 miles and didn’t see a gas station, we almost ran out of gas too. That highway is very memorable to me now 😅
warranties don't matter if the truck gets you stranded often. The whole point of their truck is that they want to travel and use it, not feel proud because the dealer is repairing it.
@@kennycho83 so true, as of now while the truck sits at the service dealer a third time I've lost all confidence in this truck. I know it can take me to the grocery store and back but any long distance I don't feel safe.
If the transmission broke would the the truck start and run so you could sit in the A/C instead of roasting in the heat? I hate you had a bad experience when traveling away from home . It would aggravate me knowing that you’re not a priority in the eyes of Fords tow truck companies. I understand they’re third party because that’s how they operate. I just drove my new F-150 from southern Ohio to Pismo beach California and back which was around 5500 miles with no events like that. I was driving through Death Valley thinking this would be horrible place to break down. Anyway that’s a beautiful truck after all.
Thank you so much for your comment, Oscar! I'm so glad your trip went smoothly. Sending you great vibes so you never ever breakdown. I could have sat in the car with the AC on while I waited for the tow truck but I was scared of getting hit. I've read of freak accidents where people breakdown and then end up getting hit while waiting for help. There were a lot of big semi-trucks driving fast and very close to the emergency lane that it made me feel safer to be away from the truck.
I highly recommend joint FB groups. Some groups don’t delete posts while others will delete anything remotely negative. Join groups and see what issues people continuously deal with.
Michael Angelo I bought it out of state in Pennsylvania. When I looked at dealers in LA back in February 2019, dealers were asking 10-15k over sticker 🤦♀️ Texas is a good place to get deals on trucks. I found this one online with everything I wanted. I bought it and they shipped it to me.
Joseph Rahme Tundras are great. I love the look of the Raptor though, it’s so sexy to me. Sometimes I see one driving behind me and I think, that’s one sexy truck 🤤🤤
That is one reason I chose TRD PRO over Raptor. Raptor performs much better off road and looks better, but what good are either of those attributes of broken down in three months? I never second guess my choice.
@David Hannah I've had 2 Toyotas and they were great, they never let me down. I love Toyota. This is my first Ford and regretfully the experience has not been a good one.
Betsy Karr Hiking I have watched your video again. No doubt your experience could have happened with any truck, but I just cannot help but think a twin turbo v6 and 10 speed transmission have more that can go wrong with them than an outdated, but the naturally aspirated, eight cylinder with a six speed. I also know any company’s dealerships can have poor service, but no way that the dealership should have pushed back on storing your trailer. Made me upset just watching it after all you two had been through.
@@BetsyKarr Hay, thanks for the reply. The algo lords will bless thee. Wanted a fun, reliable, and everyday driver that would take on an adventure we were ready for. Since we are not mechanics by trade, we simply couldn't risk being stranded 50 miles away from a public road.

Steven warrier I’m considering one. I really want a vehicle that’s reliable, can tow and good for off roading and the LC crosses all those boxes. I’ve read a lot of reviews and joined a few FB groups and so far I’ve only seen positive things about the LC.
You probably saved yourself a lot of stress. Ford service dealers give Ford a very bad name. My truck has broken five times , it has been to five different dealers and the experience has been very stressful.
Tyler Depriest thank you 🙏🏼 I’ve never had AAA but I did try to get it the day this happened, however, they have a grace. I wasn’t able to sign up and use it the same day. I didn’t get AAA when I got the truck because I didn’t think I’d need it. I also have insurance that covers the truck and trailer and Ford had the truck covered as well so getting AAA didn’t seem necessary at time of purchase.

We also know people that tow the same trailer with a Toyota Highlander. Who knows why this happened but hopefully it doesn’t happen again because we want to continue road tripping. Western states are next then Canada 😍
it sure is meant to tow..it says what it can tow so your wrong
you are so wrong
Then Ford needs to adjust the tow capacity that they advertise to consumers!
The transmission experiences habitual problems.
Gotta look for those dealerships that offer the lifetime powertrain warranty!!
That's amazing, I will definitely keep that in mind for the next purchase. For now, I'll be getting the extended warranty.
Haha are you for real or you smoking something .
Nope I’m for real! Look on auto trader, you’ll find dealerships. It’s how I’m going to get one when I get home from deployment :)
I feel so bad. I hope it doesn’t cause you to stray away from ford or American for that
Thank you so much for your comment.
At this point, I'd never get another Ford :-(
Did you guys break in the truck properly before putting any kind of stress on it?
Easy way to get rid of that issue get rid of it and buy a Toyota... they last and dependable reliable, American cars are way too pretty on the advertising only... sad experience you got there. Get Toyota Tundra.
Looks like I'll be sticking with Toyota!
Ford and Chevy transmission have a bad reputation now days...
Alex SAMANO 😭 I didn’t know and was not expecting it breaking being new. Hopefully it doesn’t happen again.
Its converter. Easy fix
@@sschevmale24 If its so easy why is the dealership not fixing it right the first time. As far as I'm concerned it's still a lemon. You shouldn't be having any problems on something new like that. If it's so easy you should fix it for her, See you won't do it will you.
@@rsamano4434 they have a process they have to go through. I get it. I work in medical field it's the same thing. You come in for a broken leg you dont just go straight to surgery. You have an xray, get an mri, than get surgery if needed. Dealerships have nothing to do with GM protocols. First one is reprogram, next step is change fluid and flush. On third trip they replaced my converter. I have 20k on my truck no problems.
@@rsamano4434 dodge is giving million mile warranty on their diesels because they suck. Toyota is replacing freaking frames on 07 tacomas not to mention the lawsuits for the rear axles and their tranny problems. You have to stay adamant and make the maker fix it or threaten lawsuit. I got mine fixed.
ugh that must suck.......it should not happened on a brand new truck......Ford should it gave you a new truck
It sucked so bad, not something you expect from a new car. Truck is fixed now, hopefully this doesn’t happen again. If it does I’ll need a new truck courtesy of Ford for sure hehe.
It's a Ford . No surprise
hungrynapps Ohh yeah! Found On Road Dead(Ford). I was hoping it ain’t so. Although it look nice. Just can’t tow a hunch.
Love the last two raptor videos and cool UA-cam channel! Hope to see some more videos soon!
You are so sweet, thank you for watching
wow if i was stranded for 3 hrs on the side of the road because my brand new truck broke down, I would be so fken mad.
MrInzombia it sucked so bad! You definitely don’t expect your 3 month old truck to breakdown. I tried not to get upset because that wouldn’t solve anything. I had to work with all the patience I had because Fords roadside assistance was anything but helpful.
I am going to post this video on our FB page. Prime example of what we fix.
Wow. Glad that's a distant memory.
It's always the same on UA-cam oh you should of bought this instead of that - "that's what I did" . Errr no you effing didn't. Get back in your bosses fleet truck, it's not yours to loan on the weekend.
Sorry this happened to you both, nothing is perfect it's built by man and woman so things do brake even in the new stage. The truck is fixed now at no charge so get back to living and loving it, and ignore the dreamers.
Fellow Gen 2 Raptor owner.
@@davidhobbs5807 Thank you so much for all of that wonderful information, David! You're a wealth of knowledge. I'll do an update soon, there are so many details in this mess. Dealing with the most recent dealer has been terrible, they turned me away the first time and said they're an independent dealership and don't need to follow Fords guidelines.
I just wish trucks were built simple and strong, not over complex and weak
What year is your Raptor ?
Hi Emmanuel, it's a 2019. I had it for 3 months before it started breaking down.
I have a f150 no issues sorry about your experience
Thanks for the video. I have a 2018 Ford. Ford quality sucks.
syme71 ☹️ I feel the same. Nothing but problems for me and getting anyone that can help has been nearly impossible.
Think you may have gotten a defective one. Also would recommend AAA much better road side service. Thanks for sharing your story. 💪🏿🥇
Man I would never take a brand new vehicle on a road trip. Not until I have at least 5k on it.
I’m purchasing a Ford F-150 in couple months but after watching this I’m going to dig more into it before I make my decision.
I highly recommend joint FB groups. Some groups don’t delete posts while others will delete anything remotely negative. Join groups and see what issues people continuously deal with.
The starter on my dads Chevy Suburban went out... we were stranded for hours. I feel your pain 😭
it really does suck. After this incident the truck left me was stranded an additional four more times 🤕
I can't imagine if my kids were with me, especially being in Barstow! Can I ask which Dealer you even bought your truck from?
Michael Angelo I bought it out of state in Pennsylvania. When I looked at dealers in LA back in February 2019, dealers were asking 10-15k over sticker 🤦♀️ Texas is a good place to get deals on trucks. I found this one online with everything I wanted. I bought it and they shipped it to me.
Betsy Karr Hiking thank you! I'm in Las Vegas and sticker prices are just as bad as CA now. Texas it is! Happy New Year!
Spend $80,000 on a Land Cruiser. End of story.
For $70k + these issues shouldn’t be happening, whatsoever!
That is why I drive a tundra
We thought about a Craptor, then went with a TRD PRO.
Why did you end up going with a TRD Pro instead of a Craptor? What did you like more about the TRD compared to a Craptor? I might go test drive one.
Every dealership just smile to your wallet. Those FUCKERS doesn't give a fuck about people .I feel sorry for you so you had to go through that BULL SHIT .
Walter 777 Smith Well the dealerships are Just there to sell cars and sometimes fix the car.,They are not the ones that make the car.
F.O.R.D./ Fix Or Repair Daily
I highly recommend a Silverado, Ram, or Tundra!👌👏
Great vid
Yugioh rexx thank you for watching 💖
It sounds like the first transmission repair was done poorly.
Wow!
Don't ever buy Ford!!!!
toyota tundra rav4 is the besttttt
What do you think about a Toyota Land Cruiser 200?
Betsy Karr Hiking Amazinggg! Are you going to buy it? Unfortunately, its not on my budget for now so had to skip it!
Steven warrier I’m considering one. I really want a vehicle that’s reliable, can tow and good for off roading and the LC crosses all those boxes. I’ve read a lot of reviews and joined a few FB groups and so far I’ve only seen positive things about the LC.
Sell it and wait for the TRX
TheJblacc59 I don’t think you get any worse then a raptor lol
You made me decide not to buy a raptor
You probably saved yourself a lot of stress. Ford service dealers give Ford a very bad name. My truck has broken five times , it has been to five different dealers and the experience has been very stressful.
Should of called AAA but glad everyone safe
Tyler Depriest thank you 🙏🏼
I’ve never had AAA but I did try to get it the day this happened, however, they have a grace. I wasn’t able to sign up and use it the same day. I didn’t get AAA when I got the truck because I didn’t think I’d need it. I also have insurance that covers the truck and trailer and Ford had the truck covered as well so getting AAA didn’t seem necessary at time of purchase.
@@BetsyKarr understandable when it's a new truck I would do the same but with it only being 60 bucks a year you cant go wrong plus you never have to go to the DMV again that was a huge plus for me but thx for the vlog.
Ford. First on repair day🧐🤬.
Factory Ordered Road Disaster
I think it's because it's a Ford
Ford Raptor was ending at 2014 V8
Gen 1, the pheasant Raptor 🤪 ننن ننن
Betsy Karr Hiking for pour people
Over MSRP 😂😂 better go check fuse 27
Betsy Karr Hiking too busy asking “Yohb” to a fraptor
Over MSRP hahahaha whilst drinking Starbucks
Should have brought a Chevy
I don't know about Chevy's but now I know about Ford's and it's not good at all.
90% of the Chevys are still on the road! Only 10% made it back home.
All be it junk quality . at least Chrysler dealerships are more sympathetic to customers
Prefiero seguir con mi Toyota, no tan cool, pero seguro
That’s why you tow in Tow Mode.
NowUknowJoe your comment implies I wasn’t in tow mode. What makes you assume I wasn’t in tow mode?
Betsy Karr Hiking were you?
😴😂🤫 make a video about anything ima make one about not being able to buy a raptor!!!
Craig D 😂😂 my next video I’ll make about having a Raptor I can’t drive. It’s been at the service dealer over 80 Days 🥺
They brought into the Ford hype and they paid the price. Standing on the side of the road in the sweltering heat. Next time try a Chevy and have piece of mind.
Just say what happened ....you are turning this into a nightmare movie .......
