  • In this video we dig the foundation hole for the shop and 2 car garage. We also install the septic system and pour the concrete for our thermal storage tank pit. This water will be heated by our wood boiler and will heat the entire house and shop during the cold winter months.

Seems to me your kids are pretty darn cool and hard working.... but that is likely because they have good parents....... nice job mom and dad!!!

Following the build. Good to see the family working together. Looks like an excellent septic system, along with the dump station.

It’s coming along pretty quick!! I definitely can’t weight to see what your shop and house end up looking like!! I remember building my house my senior year in high school!! I was able to buy 20 acres and get a construction loan for the land and the house!!! It took me and my better half just a little over 7 months to build are house!! I even dug my basement out with a skid loader!!! There is no walkouts for the basement either l!!!

I see you are using Charlotte Pipe for your Septic install. It is not far from where I live here in the lower 48 in the South East.

@@diyalaskanlifestyle I know your busy with the new house build but if you get some time I'd love to see it. Your videos are great. We're from KY and dream of living in Alaska but can't imagine bringing 4 kiddos under 8 up there

Good set of Boys there , why the stand ups on the field ?

That’s used to see if the leech field has failed. They drop a floating device attached to a rod (h2o bottle with fiberglass rod attached) and pump h2o into the tank if any of the bottles float the leech field fails and needs replaced. It’s a bogus test in my opinion because our h20 table fluctuates so much and if the ground is saturated because a lot of rain and you have it tested to sell your house and it fails fork out $10k. Mine passed on the house I just sold so I installed exactly the same system even though it is oversized for the # of people living in the house

@@diyalaskanlifestyle ya that test doesn't make sense , I did a lot of buildings on west coast reservations with high rain fall and high water tables not cold like up their though , we always used inspection pipe in the drainage bed though , how much drainage did you put in below the field ?

I used to do dirt work and I’ve installed a couple septics. But anyone can learn to do anything in these videos I’ve done a lot of things for the first time you just need to be willing to fail ever now and then
