I doubt anyone will ever see this. I am late watching this, but I wanted to agree how much h I love the movie. I found the book which the movie is based on and the movie is so much better ! Usually it is just the opposite. I can't begin to count the times I have watched it. I plan to check in to buying it. I would hate for it to be shelved and never shown àgain 😢❤❤
The tension between them was so long, but he was a real gentleman to her. He held out so long in hopes that she would finally recognize that it wasn't just a set up marriage, but that he truly cared for her and didn't want her to leave him. So he finally tells her. What a relief to hear him talking to her about that part.
I remember seeing this movie a long time ago, and why I chose to see it again I really don't know. But it turned out to be a most amazing film. No violence, cussing, drugs, alcohol or sex at all. Just a really peaceful, enjoyable movie.

I watched this movie as Mare Winningham was part of the cast. She was awesome in the 1983 T.V. Mini Series, "The Thorn Birds". Keri Russell is another actress who is able to show deep emotion in her character. Skeet Ulrich was stellar as well. The writers, producers, and actors were all able to create a story just as enchanting as "The Thorn Birds". The characters truly touched me, especially the hard-working, endearing Japanese girls. Such a moving story from Hallmark, probably the only one I've ever watched.
Oh, how many times I have seen this enchanting movie…with many more to come, I am certain. A beautiful tale of a simple yet deeply intimate look at the relationships and a love that blossoms in the midst of a small, tightly knit farming community. One of my all time favorite movies. Acting is superb.

They always seem to be so perfectly cast that you can't imagine anyone else in the roles. This one has so much heart that it is amazing.

One of my favorite movies because of the story, setting and the cast is stellar with Skeet, Keri and Mare. My mom grew up in the area this movie is set in. She talked about how badly the Japanese AMERICANS were treated and how ashamed she felt of some of her neighbors. The German POWs would "escape" and be found at places like the local movie theater and rounded up by the MPs, who basically just gave them a ride back to camp.

I know this is 5yrs later, but I fell in love with Skeet when he was in "Scream" even though I'm not much of a horror movie fan and tbh I only watched it for him.

This was such a wonderful movie. My Mom and I have watched it a few times now, but, my Mom has watched it at least 10 times so far. I can see why. It's so well done and I just love the story.
I loved this movie the first time I watched it. I enjoyed watching the relationship grow between them as a couple. I also loved her relationship growing with the town and community. She realizes that she belongs there. She is accepted there.
I stumbled upon this movie yesterday and was totally drawn in. I loved every part except when he yelled at the dog! But then he had a change of heart. I think one of my favorite parts was at the dance when Mare Winningham was dancing with her kids, and had her index finger on top of her head! I just loved it

My thoughts on a sequel ... Edward, the baby's father, is injured in the war but survives. However, due to his injury, cannot father children. He comes looking for Livy and his son and makes trouble.
In real life arranged marriages are not all bad. I personally know several and they are super happy-it’s all worked out. When you marry someone without preconceived ideas about them it’s easier to accept them as they are. Clean and sweet movie.

The town, La Junta, caught my eye. The train scene and the station looked so real, almost identical to the real area. It placed me back in La Junta, CO when I actually lived there in the early 1970s. GOOD MOVIE!
