Bosch actually pulled out of the US radio market before WW2 happened, I don't know why because they made decent products and at the time were making most of the radios sold under the Westinghouse label. Westinghouse had to panic-rush out and find a new manufacturer when Bosch left the US radio business. They had some crazy but rare/obscure high end sets right before they left the market, like a 12-tube tombstone with motorized tuning (!).
I had read they were under pressure because of their German background, plus the issues in Europe at the time probably didn't help their focus. Definitely a high quality set.
Adm's ANTIQUE RADIOS i have a vintage zenith Trans oceanic transistor shortwave receiver I want to restore it let me no ware I can get Russian germanium transistors?
I kept waiting for you to tell us what all that writing in pencil on the chassis said... but you didn't. Most of the time I see just a name or something unintelligible, but that looked like it told a real story.
Could have left that radio *OFF* in the background !! *Jim Burns* would have no problem removing that assembly and replacing that CAP. --- It sounds awful! Needs a serious alignment. That or it has a bad tube.

Good call, it's not that interesting though. A previous owner explained how to size a replacement dial belt by wrapping material around a tuna can!
