I love to take notes while observing these videos, and ask myself what Ken asks. What I do best is: Teach/train others, which requires intense empathy and communication skills. What I love most: When the person I am training succeeds bc I trained them well (and set them up for success, so their true talents can shine through). I teach the technical stuff, then they can add their creative spin on it. But I do not want to be a “teacher”. Not in typical setting as a schoolteacher. Those are labels and job listings. Great part of the message I learned - don’t worry about what you call it. Make up a name to call YOUR talent and passion.
Loved the answer to Cory's question at the end. Really important for creative and artistic types to listen to what Ken has to say about putting parent's fears and anxieties of forming a career at ease with a solid plan instead of being pushed into other fields that they won't find fulfilling.
I'm locked in on 'need to make more money but don't know what job to do'. There has never been a job that I actually wanted to leave the house to go and do. I just don't know.
My son is the same way. But what i told him is that until you figure it out, you need to do something that will put food on the table and a roof over your head. This is not directed at you, but some indecisive young ppl think they should sit on their butts with their parents paying all of their bills until they figure out what they want to do with their lives. I told my son, it's fine if you don't know yet but you will not sit around while i work 6 days a week to support you.
This is such a great caller and answer from Ken. Should have way, way more views on this video as it’s super helpful and the exercise they do together is golden.
I am a creative person and I thought that if I just get a degree in Photography which I did that I could run a business and do what I love. I got the degree in Photography but did practically nothing to learn "how" to run a Business. The Photo Business tanked. I also am a musician and what I think needs to happen with the "musician" is to learn how to run a business. I understand that Mick Jagger of the Rolling Stones has an advanced degree in finance. You need to learn the "nuts and bolts" before you put the "dream" together and I think that is what his parents are getting at. That is being wise.
I dont know exactly what i want from a career but in life id love to make something people enjoy, like a book/film/comic. I have loads of ideas and id love to try implement them one day.
@@TheTread123 i agree. It's just hard to earn a living being creative. The value comes from people's perception of it's worth. And that changes with time, trends, and people's personal views. Not like an office job where they quantify your worth with a salary, for example. The term "starving artist" is a real thing. I have creative friends.
Just found your channel and I'm trying to like you but I'm finding you a little too aggressive and pushy. It seems to me your callers are just telling you what you want to hear at times. Too much like a salesman for me. I will try one more video and I'm hoping it sells me in you.
"I am looking to make 2020 my year" oh Matthew little did you know..
2020 was no one's year unless you were a vaccine production company.
2020 was my year! Probably the best year of my life mentally, physically snd spiritually
Man, I relate to this caller! I overthink everything. I needed this advice.
Same = 🤯😵

Call Ken.
Thank you Ken for going through with a fine tooth comb for the rest of the us that need the sweet spot exercise

Right there with you.
Lots of jobs, but no career.

People like us overthink everything to death which makes us stuck but helps is to help others💛
00:11 February of 2020... YIKES.
How all went well for you brother.

Can relate, sometimes it changes, sometimes you have dreams, goals, distractions, opportunities...or you just have to take one step in that direction!
I’m not good at anything I don’t think like I couldn’t say 1 thing I was good at ?
Anyone else in the same boat ??
One possible word to describe Matthew’s sweet spot role: Fixer.
I was thinking analyst. It sounds like business analyst is his dream job
What comes easy to me, what do I do best?.....I still can't answer these questions 😭
Corey's parents just don't want Corey to be 35 and still living in their basement and playing with his band in their garage.
Many fields of work can be possibly creative! Read the "Medici effect". It gives examples of people who have done it.

People don't compliment me on anything though?
The career you create for yourself...
Omg this is way too frustrating to even listen to and it's not just the caller the host is irritating too the way he won't let the guy talk. Ugh.
He absolutely doesn’t even know what he wants. I mean with all the help he’s getting.
People Problem Solver

Amen!
This guy want to copy Dave Ramsey show. It's the exact set up, style and you name it.
He’s a part of the Dave Ramsey network.
