  • How can you preserve your culture in a melting pot of cultures?
    This question is important with global migration due to wars, natural disasters, and violence in so many places in the world. Now we all hunger to discover our DNA, our heritage, our origins. It's human nature to want to trace back our ancestry.
    Join Suhein Beck in this episode as she invites brother Yusef and sister Maza Eshak to discuss how and why they are working so hard to preserve our ancient Circassian / Adighe Culture here in Southern California, USA.
    A special tribute to their father, Zuher Eshak Melgoush, with appreciation & encouragement for them to keep inspiring the NEXT generation to HOLD THE KEY OF CULTURE onward!
    **Circassians were expelled by the Russians after a150+/- years of war/genocide in the Caucasus Mountains of Southern Russia between the Black Sea and the Caspian Sea. The fear of extinction has driven Circassians around the world to a passionate obsession of holding on to their heritage. Since May 21, 1864, Circassians have thrived all over the Mideast, Europe, America, and Australia and have proven to be resilient in spirit and keeping their fundamental traditions alive.
    This video proves the Circassian spirit is still vibrant and continues.
    Suhein Beck presents this episode as a testimony of human nature's innate need to identify our roots. We can roam the earth freely, but there is always some form of pull-back in our souls to self-reflect.
    Please share your thoughts about YOUR culture and what you enjoy of your own history...

    How could you bring up the fact that your daughter married a non Circassian on an episode were you talk about our culture? This is striking.

    • @SuheinBeck
      @SuheinBeck  3 роки тому +1

      I have to be honest and this is our continued struggle...I also do not speak Adighebze and talk openly about this even though I carry the shame of not speaking our sacred mother tongue...but I am also trying my best to learn it and offer encouragement to others that can help resurrect the culture and language. By encouraging we have a chance to save the culture...

    I don't agree though when Islam is attributed to Circassian culture. Islam is only little more than 100 years as when it was adopted by Circassians. All our traditions and Habze are much older then Islam and in many cases are contrary to Islam and its values. Circassians were introduced to Christianity when Russia even didn't exist. And now there are still some Orthodox circassians living in Mozdok. Also there are some who are Protestants and so forth. But we are all still Adyghe and love our culture and traditions. So I think it would be beneficial for preserving our culture not to attribute Islam or any other particular religion with Circassians. Our Habze is very rich and beautiful.

    • @SuheinBeck
      @SuheinBeck  4 роки тому +3

      You are correct in that our long-lineage of NART SAGAS prove that we actually go back beyond Islam's 1,400 years influence. Our Adighe Khabze goes back almost 2,500-3,500 years back and now we are getting the archealogical and linguistic evidence to prove it thanks to technology and scholars like John Colarusso, Linda Malcor, Adriene Mayor, & Jeannine Davis-Kimball.

      Черкесы исповедует не только ислам, но и христианство. И если среди христиан найдется такой же глупый, как и ты, то он скажет, что христианство важнее. Но вам, глупцам, никогда не понять, что религия вас разъединяет. И единственно, что вас держит вместе, это культура черкесов, в которой Хабзэ занимает центральное место.

    • @As-Mars
      @As-Mars 2 роки тому

      Не надо выдумывать!АДЫГИ ( ЧЕРКЕСЫ) БЫЛИ ЯЗЫЧНИКАМИ,НО ПОТОМ ПРИНЯЛИ ИСЛАМ.ПОГОЛОВНО. Христианами были только некоторые люди из приморских племен адыгов,которые по делам общались с генуэзцами и греками!! И этой религии не понимали,толком не принимали поэтому повсеместно молились как язычники! А моздокские черкесы из Кабарды( кабардинцы) - это мусульмане,которые по разным причинам переходили на сторону русских завоевателей. Царская администрация давала им скот,землю,деньги и службу в казаках,в ОБМЕН НА ПРИНЯТИЕ ПРАВОСЛАВИЯ!!! ВОТ ТАК И ПОЯВИЛИСЬ ХРИСТИАНЕ КАБАРДИНЦЫ,ЭТО ПРОСТО МУРТАДЫ,КОТОРЫЕ ВЫБРАЛИ ЛЕГКИЙ ПУТЬ... ТО БЫЛО В 19 ВЕКЕ..
