youd think a club this size would at the very least be able to avoid becoming the team that has conceded the most goals in the entire football league this season. don't deserve to get promoted on that stat alone.. pathetic
Villa's decline has been slow but inevitable in the absence of Grealish. They have missed his creation, and probably even more, his ball retention. As they started to lose games, Smith changed the way they play, which meant players being forced to do jobs they do not excel at. The negativity created by failure has fed upon itself and confidence has evaporated. WBA have a very decent squad and the loss of Harvey Barnes has not proven so crucial. They seem to have what it takes to reach the play-off final and certainly have enough of the dark arts to go all the way. Salvaging vital points with late goals earned by handball and diving show that they have the necessary cynicism. Sending another Villa player to the hospital keeps up a long tradition. Fortunately for Albion they didn't have to play very well to beat Villa easily and that is what dismayed the Villa faithful. Only winning games will spark Villa back into their former selves. The return of Grealish will be crucial for that to happen.
Good sound analysis. Drastic change required at Villa. Can't see any real progression since our first year in championship. Time to build a team not a team of individuals.
@Paul Osc Slots Gambling Channel I think the history books will show that WW1 was the watershed which marked the beginning of Villa's decline but it was the arrival of Herbert Chapman at Arsenal's brand new stadium which led to Villa's total eclipse in the 1930s, from which it could be argued, Villa have never really recovered. Villa's league and European Cup-winning success, was all the more remarkable because it defied their status, rather than it being the result of it. I would agree that Villa's decline from 2000, could not have come at a worse time, when the financial gulf between the Premier League and the Championship became an almost insurmountable gulf. But as you know full well, when I mentioned decline above, I was talking about their recent relative decline from play-off possibles to mid-table mediocrity.
i honestly think the board made a mistake to appointing this manager, He has got a clue. This job is too big for him. We should have given Bruce time to sort it out. His track record of getting teams promoted is second to nun.
Here's one for you all... what do you call Villa without Grealish...? Jack sxxt!!! Absolute torment this is. Give Dean the summer, and once some of these reprobates are out the door, he can start building a side in his own image. Can't judge him by these players standards. Keep the faith. The club will turn around but we need to hold firm and give the club time to implement a long term vision. Another sacking solves nothing. UTV
To many mediocre players getting big wages to turn out every game and give nothing. Even when they give their all they barely do anything. No consistency, no creativity most of them don’t even do the basics well enough. O’hare should have been played instead of Elmo or elghazi as an inside forward like Grealish when he broke through. Young Ramsey needs to start as attacking midfielder to add some creativity and forward thinking.
I’ve just had an idea, when Jack, Axel and Chezzy are back we put Chester at RCB for Elphick, Jack LCM and Axel at CDM. I think that would work for us.
What’s the obsession with a CDM. Why can’t our midfielders attack and defend? Why can’t our CBs distribute? A traditional 4-4-2 with our quality wingers and Tammy and Kodjia upfront would surely create goals. A midfielder that controls the middle of the park would be ideal, we don’t need one in front of the defence. Wasted pass.
ad I know mate. I’ve been saying it for a while and people were calling me stupid because he has scored so many. Now the goals are drying up these sitters matter a lot more and people are seeing how many he misses. I still think he deserves a spot but I would play 2 up front and get the crosses in. We’ve got decent wingers.
Change our style of play. I love Deano but our squad isn't young enough/ fit enough to play this attacking football. They get tired after 40 mins and then we sit back and concede .
Can't really judge him until he's had a proper pre-season, how long has he really had to work with the squad since he got here? The squad is in a real state and has been for years, we need to look long term and not change things every time we have a bad run
Hourihane dreadful yet again, the booing when he was subbed off wasn't fair but you could understand the fans frustration with him. Ramsey was clueless when he came on, fair play for giving the youngster a chance but we should've kept O'Hare and gave him the game time instead. Defense was better, Hause was okay at full back but you could see glimpses that he was lacking sharpness. Tammy had no support, Elmohammedy was good at pressing the back line but he's not good as a winger and his tracking back/marking was bad at times. Missing the quality in midfield which is why El Ghazi should replace Hourihane in the middle and he should run at defenders with the ball because he has that ability and a decent shot on him. Green should start more games, start with 2 up top so we can try and get Tammy in the game more and not just cross to him for 90 minutes. McGinn looks worn out but he now has a 2 match ban for having 10 yellows. Still can't see what Smith is offering at the moment, yes he's missing Grealish but he should be able to deal with that. Grealish gets taken out few times a game and any of those challenges could end up in another long term injury, then what? Season over again?
Agreed. The only thing Hourihane brings to a team is set piece delivery. I'd like to see us play two upfront, Kodjia and Tammy. Green on the left, El Ghazi on the right with McGinn and Whelan in the middle. Play a more standard 4-4-2. The advantage of a 4-4-2 is its flexibility. Whelan does a decent job from the back, playing longer balls with McGinn able to run up the pitch and utilize his engine. Without Grealish we just dont look creative enough to play with one upfront.
@@ryanclough5126 Yeah i agree with that lineup but only problem is that McGinn will be suspended for 2 games and Grealish should be back around the same time, we also need Whelan to bring a defensive quality to the team. The formation we're currently using leaves nothing in the middle of our attack. We have other set piece takers for corners and free kicks so we have no use for Hourihane and for direct free kicks, i'd have McGinn and his sweet left foot on them. Unless Carroll is back then we're stuck with Hourihane in McGinn's absence and realistically should play El Ghazi in the number 10 role.
I think we should keep Deano, but he can’t keep this style of football with this team. They don’t fit his style so he needs to stop trying it as it’s clearly not working without grealish

This league is probably the hardest league in European football to get promoted from. Trust me, im a fuckin Wednesdayite.....
