i've owned a Flair Neo for a year now and really like Illy Intenso pre-ground espresso. I've tried a lot of others including local roasters, and grinding myself, but none tasted as good as Illy and the crema is much better too. The grind is perfect for the Neo which allows for creating the ideal pressure when pulling for efficient extraction.
Hey Nathan. I have the flair Neo with the included red porta filter and I’ve purchased the bottomless 2-in-1 black portafilter and yet I feel like I pull better shots with the Neo pressurized portafilter than the bottomless 2-in-1. Don’t suppose you’d have any advice? I also use the pressure gauge and a baratza virtuoso and even with the grind setting at 0-1 I still feel like the 2-in-1 just doesn’t make as good of a shot as the Neos pressurized portafilter. I also use bought a scale to weigh out 16grams each
definitely need a better grinder, the bottomless porta filter will require a very uniform, particular grind which can’t really be achieved with the baratza virtuoso
Hi Nathan. I understand the Neo portafilter allows for a less than perfect espresso grind. However, would there be a taste improvement if a more ideal espresso grind was used?
Hi, Would you be able to tell me if there is any aluminum inside the chamber at all? Does water come into contact with any aluminum? The chamber that you put the grounds in, is that metal aluminum?
So I got the neo and I followed almost every type of tip out there and not impressed at all. First off I get no crema. If I grind too fine the machine chokes up and there goes wasted coffee. If I grind too coarse, the shot is nearly undrinkable with acidity and it’s rather cold (pre heated with 100° water 2x) I’m grinding so far less than 8 on my baratza and 2 is too fine with the choking , I’m running out of grind dialing which I thought the Neo was good for without a good grinder. Very high key sending it back.
@@CabeensCoffeeCorner yeah I’m using the encore, And I buy my beans either from Trade Coffee sub or from Whole Foods which has freshly roasted coffee (within 2 weeks at the oldest but they are sealed bags)
How much pressure should we be using to tamp this? I’m new to espresso and I’ve had some trouble pushing the water through the grounds when I’ve tried to tamp pretty hard. Is it a pretty light pressure?
@@yoshidownload I think he said, It depends. Each grinder has some variation (never mind each brand of coffee - location, roast, age of bean, etc). Bottom line is you have to experiment.
Good vids bro, I used flair over 2 years now..Imho, I think your beans grind too coarser, so the pressure kind a lose, so the extraction will kind a weak
@@CabeensCoffeeCorner well noted, so that neo difference between the classic (which I used) is that.. sorry, I dunno, that type not available in my country, that why I click ur video
I measure out 16 grams and it just won't fit in the portafilter, it overflows the edges even if I tamp hard, the most I was able to get is about 14g. Also I get almost no crema?
@@CabeensCoffeeCorner Thanks! I must be maxing out my grinder, it's on the smallest 'espresso' grind size, but must not be getting small enough (cheapo mr. coffee electric burr grinder). The beans are from 5 lb bulk bags, stored vacuum sealed whole bean into the freezer for storage, could have been stored too long after roasting. I'll have to consider finding a clearer roast date, or roasting green ones to get the freshest roast.

probably you need better grinder. Flair suggest using a grinder with 80 clicks (at least 60), so that you can further ajust for a perfect shot.

I believe its stainless steel. No aluminum. You could contact Flair for more information

15lbs
Just try to keep it as consistent as possible
When using the Encore, what grind setting would you suggest? The Encore's manual suggests grind setting #8 for Espresso
@@CabeensCoffeeCorner Yes, I'm aiming for 16g

Thats acaia cinco ? Or pysix
I really can’t decide which model I want to get Neo vs Classic, ugh
If you have good grinder , go to classic. Neo works very well with coarsy ground.

Grind finer. How old are your beans
