When I was a student, my friend and I went backstage (people were allowed to in those days) after seeing her perform in The Philanthropist in NYC. She graciously signed our copies of the Playbill and we were thrilled. I have her cake decorating book, too. She had a bakery in Kensington, if I recall. I popped in on a trip to London in the '90s and bought something but she wasn't there. Jane is so creative. She was a part of my youth and I am glad she's done so well in her life.

She couldn't have been nicer....I meant to ask her about the frightening scene she played in when she must've been all of 7-8 years old---if that---in THE QUATERMASS EXPERIMENT, as well as the other NIgel Kneale project she did for the BBC, THE STONE TAPE. Maybe we can pester her again.----tho a lot of creative people don't like to talk about things they did so long ago, but what they're currently up to. ( (Btw, I thought her husband's main work was as an artist: He supervised the wild animation in THE WALL. Great artist.

You are trying to defend Paul's dishonorable actions. He cheated on Jane because she believed in him and he betrayed her trust. Jane has been the president of Arthritis Care in Britain for a very long time. According to Ruth McCartney, Paul was abusive towards his elderly father who had crippling Arthritis -he could not even be bothered going to his father's funeral. What is sad about this is that Paul was not like that when he was with Jane. As Brown pointed out, Paul was able to have humility when he was with Jane. So, when she left him he obviously lost it. Some people attempt to make Jane and Linda some sort of adversaries, when that was not the case. From what's been made public in more recent years, Paul was just a much better person with Jane.

Paul left her and cheated cause he felt alone in that relationship. She didn’t love or value him at all. That was his reason for cheating not cause he was a womanizer. He was alone and the one he wanted to be there was never there. Why do you think she never opened her mouth about it, its cause she didn’t love him and he suffered the abuse of a woman who didn’t know what she wanted until he finally said f this. You are trying to defend Paul's dishonorable actions. He cheated on Jane because she believed in him and he betrayed her trust. There are millions of women who work for a living but that does not mean they do not love or value their husbands, partners. If he had any integrity he would have broken up with her and continued to roll with groupies. She would have accepted it. Instead, she caught him in the bed they shared with a girl. And, from all accounts Jane was deeply in love with Paul. They were engaged to be married and you attack her? Whatever. Jane is a very private person and her relationship with Paul was personal to her. People need to respect that.
If he felt alone he could have broken up with her instead of fucking propose to her, she didn't talk about it cause she didn't felt the necesity to share her private life with everyone. And you can't pretend like you know how their relationship was and call her an abuser, even if she hadn't love him you can't compare that with abuse. In any case Paul was the one who didn't respect her, he didn't care about how much she loved acting and asked her to live it all for being with him all the time, and if you love someone a lot you wouldn't cheat on them

It all worked out for the best, it would seem, in the long run. (And, btw...is there anything all that wrong with Loraine Newman and/or looking like her a bit?...No need to answer; it's just a personal view re the latter.)
I love that she never talks about her time with Paul, but Paul, as he gets older, refers quite often to her.
She was far far too talented and classy for him, despite the dosh he's made from his muzak.
Jane has been the president of Arthritis Care in Britain for a very long time. According to Ruth McCartney, Paul was abusive towards his elderly father who had crippling Arthritis -he could not even be bothered going to his father's funeral. What is sad about this is that Paul was not like that when he was with Jane. As Brown pointed out, Paul was able to have humility when he was with Jane. So, when she left him he obviously lost it. Some people attempt to make Jane and Linda some sort of adversaries, when that was not the case. From what's been made public in more recent years, Paul was just a much better person with Jane.
