Yes I did mine in 2010 mine was a 2001 GXL 105 swapped everything with 2004 HDJ Sahara then in 2019 went even further swapping more bits from Japanese Vx Limited and Russian Lexus, JDM Cygnus and Australian Lx 470 Lexus I have all the luxury bits. I Recently converted to manual H152F box with big G-Turbo Titanium and 70plus injectors with almost 400hp and 1000nm at the wheels. Best of all the luxuries and all the power on tap. Best move ever.
Wow sounds like you’ve got a pretty serious setup. I’m going to have to save up a bit longer to get into upgraded turbos and injectors but it’s definitely on my list. You haven’t broken anything with the extra power? Sounds amazing
Not yet but i have bought some billet rods and will be fitting arp heads studs and acl race bearings when i save up some more coin. it is still a work in progress i am doing a 79 series bonnet my self its taking a long time with a lack of room i have to move everthing out the way to to move car in and out small garage to set up the welder. most stuff done on steep driveway out in the queensland killer sun and humidity.
Good stuff dude. As a current 105 series owner and someone who has owned IFS solid rear and IFS IRS setups, you can see why most new cars are IFS. Better road handling and really a 100 series (for example) with a 2" lift 33" and twin locked is way capable enough for %98 of people and really actually more capable then most drivers are willing to attempt.
100% mate, I know what I’m building is something for the minority who like to actually get off road, do it a lot and have a crack at the tough stuff every now and then. If it was going to be a tourer with a little bit of 4x4 sprinkled in I’d definitely stick to the 100. It’s also been a dream of mine to build this exact rig so can’t pass up the opportunity
I have a petrol 105 , during Covid I purchased a 100 series and swapped everything of that into my 105 . It is now the most awesome car. The conversion was well worth the effort. Now has a lot more torque and is early twice as good on fuel consumption . Now very happy with my car and will never part with it

Absolutely great video and info. Fantastic real world real person project. I'm about do to the same with a GXL body 1hd-fte onto a 105 series chassis. I've got a 4 post hoist, that will probably be a bit harder to do the body removal, it would be interested on how others have achieved this? Thanks mate that feedback means a lot to me. I started making these videos as when I often looked for answer from people who had already done something all I got was self promotion and no actual answers so I’m glad that my videos are doing what I set out. I will have a similar issue and once it’s hear something i will do my best to figure out. Thanks again and good luck with your swap too!
Awesome! Good on you mate. Something I would never bother doing as I see the 100 series as the ultimate 4x4 already solid axle seems negligible for most off roading and the 100 will go anywhere already. Love that you’re doing the swap and great videos. Keen to check out your other videos now. Hope your channel blows up for you
Thanks Adam, appreciate it mate! To some extent I agree, the 100 is super capable when setup properly. For me this car is used 80% off-road and I plan to do a lot more tough stuff in it so I can justify taking the time to build it. I also just love the idea of building something unique. Thanks for the support mate appreciate it!
I definitely prefer IFS for off road. Sure, if rock crawling all the time, solid might be preferred, but going at any speed, IFS is better. That's why most race trucks are IFS. But if you want an actual rock crawler, a big LC isn't the ultimate weapon anyways.
Yeah I get it, if they didn’t do it at the time they’d be left behind just such a shame they had the potential to build the perfect car (in my opinion ) with the fte and 105 in production at the same time.
Hey mate I have a friend who I’ve bought quite a few cars through from Japan. If you look up nippon2u have a chat with scott and let him know I sent you, nice bloke and trustworthy
I did a ton of research and the few people who have sassed them weren’t happy. Chassis doesn’t really work well with solid axle as the front is completely different. Honestly for diy I think swapping the 105 chassis under a 100 is way easier as there’s no cutting/welding etc it’s all bolt in and no “custom” parts should something break down the road
@@onstreetgarageSure can dude. I will ping you over FB if ok. Yep doing it all yourself isnt the easiest way but it’s the most satisfying and saves plenty of pain on the back pocket 💰
shame you were not able to get an 04 to 06 model so much more luxeries onboard

I don't blame Toyota going where the money was - luxury SUV
But I would have preferred they kept a DFS version for proper 4WDing too
