This stuff is gold. I'm a teacher and I use some of your video's in my class. School unfortunately does not teach these life lessons that are necessary to survive in society today.
Great stuff!
That's so true. The book, "Rich Dad, Poor Dad" ( Robert Kiyosaki & Sharon Lechter ) said the same thing. Another one from A. L. Williams, former high school coach, had said, "It's not how much you make, it's how much you keep."
My friend said to me once "but nice or buy twice" and that's stuck with me ever since and actually hasn't failed me to this day.
I watch most of minimalist channels. Your ideas are unique and non repititive. Engaging❤
my husband and I have been using your tips over the last couple years. never thought about this habit we had developed until i recently saw it on your videos. we don't leave the house on an empty stomach nor do we leave without a water bottle! we dont buy food nor drinks while driving around in the car
Buy the best (you can afford) and cry once !! Live by this!! I use my butter dish example, I wanted a butter dish, but I didn't want to spend more than $10 ...I hated the cheap ones and ended up buying like three cheap ones, that were too small to fit the butter without making a mess, too hard to open and close, etc. etc. before I finally decided to buy the $30 one that I really wanted. So, I ended up spending $60-$70 instead of just $30 for the one I originally wanted!!! And yes!! when you buy the expensive packaging you are only supporting the MAN!!!! For me that s especially true with cosmetics. Drug store cosmetics have the same or better ingredients than the high priced department store brands...no way Jose!!!
The problem wasn’t which butter dish to buy it was missing the obvious-get rid of the butter all together
I just made this mistake. Got a cheap butter dish that is chipping already and now I have to buy another one!
I need to watch your videos from time to time to remember myself not to fall back into my old habits.. spending money … thank you so much for your videos. They’re of great value. And thanks as well for not doing advertisements on your channel. Whenever a channel grows, UA-camrs start to promote some stuff on their channel. I am so grateful that you don’t do that. Keep up 👌
Downsizing my life in the coming year and my income will take a hit, so videos like this are just wonderful! I am looking forward to becoming more mindful and minimalist, and already know that with careful planning I won’t miss those extra $ which frankly just fund a lifestyle I no longer want or need. Thanks Austin!
So true. My goal it to be a minimalist, being portable. The American way is to accumulate as much stuff as you can. Sickening.
I watched one of your videos and it turned in to 10… My friend your message is EVERYTHING that I’ve been needing in my adult life. I’m on my path to taking control of my life financially. These videos help a great deal. Thank you.
I love your money philosophy!
Unique! Entertaining! Wise!
No Sucka's here!!!
Austin! This video is fantastic and I was laughing out loud! I love your style! One thing that is destroying my budget is food!! I never go out to eat but food prices are crazy here in New Jersey! Keep the videos coming…your content is very important! 😊
Your point about being in a rush and wasting money is one I haven't seen on other channels, but it is a huge money waster. Thanks for the reminder!
Dia duit (Irish for Hello!) Austin/Augustine, well done on your acute observations. I have a marketing degree and you are so right, the tactics that companies use to get you to part with your money are unreal. To quote Shakespeare (The Merchant of Venice) “All that glitters is not gold”. Packaging, promotions, advertising, influencers, blogs, product placements in movies and tv shows, smells, end of aisle, eye level products and branding all sells. I don’t work in that sphere but it’s so helpful to know that we are being played. Keep up the great work. Muchas gracias Amigo. (Go raibh maith agat mo chairde).
Lower your bills too. I'm switching from AT&T @ $80/mo to Mint @ $20/mo. It's a process, but the savings are worth it.
Finding this channel is like finally finding a friend who thinks the way I do! I don’t tend to talk finances with friends because many of them think debt is a-ok! Oh and yes you’re a good looking guy as some of the comments point out but it’s your attitude that really gives you the hotness edge so don’t ever stop and get sucked back in and lose your super powers! muchas gracias por todo the inspiration 🎉
The 20 / 80 rule works almost always. We only need 20 percent of the things we actually have or want. The remaining 80 percent is generally not useful or is worthless. The same with time and relationships.Only 20 percent of our time is productive and 20 percent of our relationships are meaningful. We only need to concentrate on these.Cheers from the south of India.
South India is beautiful, I was very fortunate to spend 3 weeks in Mysore. 💜
Another wonderful video!! I totally agree on the being rushed/in a hurry. That’s the biggest thing that destroys my budget sometimes. I haven’t actually walked out of stores before with nothing because I’ve learned when I feel too rushed (usually on my lunch break at work which I no longer do) I just can’t make good and wise decisions. Now I make sure I have time and if I’m not as prepared as I thought I will leave and come back another time. Great video!!!
You are a talented presenter and I believe this is only the beginning of your story. Keep up the good work. A fan, in Ireland :)
You are such a big beautiful diamond shining your reality on life!❤
Excellent. Wise words from a young man. You are Rich with wisdom!!
Love you, Austin! Keep on doing what you're doing and sharing your wisdom in your unique style!
Spending is more about mindset & behavior than knowledge. Thank you for helping us change our mindset and keeping us on track.💗
I have also been trying to avoid the things that can badly affect my humble budget since the day I became a dad. 😊
It is so nice of you to remind us that little unconcious actions could destroy our financial lives. I remember talking to a guy whom I mentioned that the pen he was writing with was very beautiful and he said ' I collect pens, because for me a pen it is a masterpiece. 'Needless to say that for me a pen is just a pen
I’ve watched his content so much now that his voice lives rent free in my head. That’s frugality if I’ve ever heard of it. 🧡 🐪
Austin, greetings from London…….I have been watching your great videos in the last 3 days and to don I am your new subriber……thanks you for your tips…..you are awesome 👌🙏
A great video Austin!
I have been on a mission to reach financial freedom. Been listening to Earl Nightingale's early recordings and Napoleon Hill's Think and Grow Rich. I couldn't stop reaching my goals and reminding myself I will succeed on a daily basis. My wife is amazing about finances, I was that person who loves to splurge my money supporting "The Man", now I ain't spending any dime on something that doesn't add value to my life. I now own 2 rental properties and learned how to invest my money wisely. Making money work for me towards my goal is the best thing and not the other way around. I realized the hatred and anxiety that I had in my life was caused by the fact of being an employee. Our lives are more meaningful if we live beneath our means, value what is really important and to use and grow our minds to reach our maximum potential. 😁 Thanks for this video.
"You are what you think about"
really great points and tips, thank you so much
You are an old soul... I appreciate uour wisdom. Thank you for sharing your ideas regarding simplicity. They are incredibly relevant. I would appreciate more understanding about 'don't let the man get you down'. Thanks again!
That is a great thing to say, stop thinking people are better than you, have their life together, everyone has problems their whole life. Reminders are good.
My three favorite things to do with my money:
1. Save it 💵
2. Exploring our beautiful planet 🌎
3. Buy books 📚
Buy books?😳
Isn't that why we have libraries? I check out new publications online/in bookshops...then reserve them at my library😁👍🇦🇺
@@rosalynne8792 I buy a lot of used books for a couple of dollars each, but also new ones occasionally. I love owning my books, but I also donate some of them when I finished reading them, otherwise I would need a bigger house!
@@asavannah7439 yes...I had lots of books..at a stage now where I don't need most of them..even books I used as an art teacher. Even the school lib was getting rid of lots of books..sad.. "digital age takeover". I have taken mine to op shops so others can also buy cheap books.🤗
I discovery you today, I from Portugal, you are very good...thank you
“Es agustiiinnnn “ 🤣🤣🤣 I love your videos . Buen trabajo 👏🏼 🇳🇮
i leave super early to work with my lunch and coffee packed. in fact, i brought my own coffee maker to work and make 2-3 pots of work every morning without needing to pick up coffee on my way to work. my husband makes his coffee at home and takes a cup of keurig with me when he leaves the house in the mornings
I listened to 4 videos and subscribed. Because I like real talk. Logical and truth.
Hi Austin you have some great points here😊. You know what im trying to understand? Why/how is it that people will buy these luxury hand bags for thousands of dollars then complain that the prices are going up? The manufacturers cant even keep up with the demand sometimes they have to put in their order months/year ahead.🤔🤔
I always think to myself that some of the people that buy the super expensive purses don't have a lot of money to keep in it. 🙂
Love your channel, thanks!!
Binging on your content. Thanks
I found you on Monday, watched a few of your videos and they have been very impactful already. Including the needs/wants one, I needed the reminder as there are so many temptations 😏 Thank you for your videos, all the very best ☺️🏴
I have binged watched your videos and believe me they are amazing.
I used to have a friend who was really cheap, I’ve distanced myself from her now mainly because of that, for example I realised that when we went out for coffee it was normally me buying, she would wait and see if I would offer. Anyway, a friend told me she almost had a big accident because she wanted to fix her own roof instead of getting someone out to do it. She watched a UA-cam video , used the few tools she had, got someone to hold a big ladder and basically almost fell off the roof. In many ways she is actually a nice girl but her desire to be cheap was literally almost the death of her.
So well observed - so brilliantly put!
great video. Very good list. You posted this video on my 23rd birthday. Yah, this world is crazy and I think it became more so since the invention of the internet in 1983 then in 1997 we got social media, then throughout the 2000's we got stuff like Facebook, youtube etc. Now everything is more advanced and we practically don't have to talk to people to order or anything, just a few clicks and send. But nothing is without its pros and cons. And I admit I am a little anxious about the future especially with AI coming around. I really ought to write about this in my novel.
Love the passion and the content of you videos. I always learn something new and it keeps me inspired! The one habit that's destroyed my budget is jumping into things way too fast. I've learned that the more expensive something is, the longer I need to take to think about it.
.
Love your message and your style. Muchas gracias Senor Augustin.
Your channel only one that worth to watch, you speaking the reality we live in , thank you for the great lessons you giving us.
I've done both the good and bad practices discussed in the video. It is not too hard to cut costs down at first, but lifestyle creep does come up more than I prefer. The main goal is to get to a balance that works for you.
Exactly. Finishing the marathon is the key and I am guilty of this. I try to work hard at being a complete minimalist. I am on my way, but have not been perfect.
So true. This was a great video.
Best introduction ever 👏
Hahahahahahahaha !! Yo soy Agutín! You’re awesome!! I love you and your channel so so much, I am your biggest fan.
A giant hug! 🤍
I spent many years with these bad habits and am now almost done paying for my past choices. I think they come down to boredom, discontentment, and comparisons. When my kids were little 20 years ago, we would order stuff just to get packages in the mail because it was the only excitement we had, lol.
Great video Austin. Pay now pay later is the worst, even if you have the money in your bank it can just tip the balance in favour of spending as you don’t see that money leave your bank balance immediately. I really try to buy high-quality outdoor gear now and go with brands that can be repaired multiple times. I wear Vivobarefoor shoes which are expensive but have a resole and repair service in the UK this works out much cheaper than a new pair.
Great Video Austin !!!
El Agustin es mi youtuber favorito!
Best advice ever for a young person.
I’m starting to really enjoy your content. Greetings from Canada
Great stuff thanks for sharing especially the first and last one
To answer your question, you're not the crazy one. You're a voice of sanity in this increasingly crazy world.
P.S. Absolutely loving Shantaram, so many pearls of wisdom.
I have a shirt and jacket I bought 2004 and still have them. Hell the jacket gets compliments.
Good information. Thank you!
Some good advice. Only thing is, I need a new laptop to continue watching your You Tube channel so will have to buy a new one :) Buying cheap, as my Mum used to say " Buy cheap, pay twice"
So many helpful tips! Thank you! Being in a rush and not being prepared have sabotaged my budget. So no more being a “sucka” here ! Lol I always enjoy your videos and look forward to the next one. 🤗
yep planning meals with leftovers in mind saves me alot of money during the week
YOU ARE FUNNY! But on a serious note I been a sucka 😩 thank you for the message
Love this content! From 🇲🇾
We have a fixed written down budget and nothing could destroy it. We're living on a ridiculous small budget and can afford all we need. Ergo we're rich! We even have a car, okay a very small one but with radio! We own a house, okay an old one but with enough space for two studios, a library, a workshop and guestrooms. We have garden with vegetables, flowers, bees, bumblebees, butterflies and lizards. And we're working independent. Going to work every day would mean more money. But why?
I cut all my subscription's including Planet Fitness 😅 what a waste of $. I don't watch TV but when I briefly do, the commercials are what intrigues me the most.... it's maddening that Im compelled to run out and buy some magic cleaning potion to disinfect my clothes or a vehicle that is advertised for 1.9% interest over 8 year's 😂. Thanks for another great video.
Hey Austin, great video. Unfortunately I have somewhat of a jewellery addiction something about shiny pretty things I guess... I need help with this :-/ 🙏💕
I thought I was crazy for liking box openings, they are so beautifully designed.
good points ! but you are contradicting between your point 7 and 8, if expensive is not always better then go for the cheaper options, no brainer
i use some of your tips in my classes. i teach high school boys and they just want money to buy the latest nike sneaker ($200+)!
This video here!! He said what I have been thinking and working on this year. I absolutely love it!!
LOVE your channel!
I love ❤ you !
Thanks for all these videos 📹
Thank you, Austin! Could you share to your presumably well-budgeted UA-cam set up and editing software?
Thank you for your valuable teachings! I agree with your message I'm just hoping to organize my life and apply it. Regarding Planet Fitness, the $10.00 that I spend monthly, are the most well spending dollars on my entire existence!!!
1. Being naive and chump
2. Identify yourself with material things [over consumption]
3. Thinking you can pay things off
4. Thinking people is better than you. Comparing yourself
5. Wanting things quickly
6. Being in a rush
7. Being very cheap
8. Thinking expensive is better
9. Spending on things you dont need
10. Excitment from Unboxing 😂
"Buy cheap buy twice" is one of my favourite sayings
Most of your thoughts matches mine. Only difference is you from West i am from east. Love from India.
evryone is just tryna figure out what went wrong with childhood 🤣
im malaysian, welcome to malaysia😇
Thrift first. I have a blender from the 1960s that has worked better then the three blenders I've owned an adulthood that were brand new quality is a thing of the past so I look to The past
great tips thanks
Muchas gracias por bueno video.
Habit #4 really spoke to me.
Where is that buy me a coffee link? Great video and the others are the crazy ones! Unboxing 18 mil subs crazy times.
UA-cam takes a 30% cut. . With buy me a coffee you’ll be charged a 5% transaction fee and get to keep 95% of all earnings. Appreciate your content. Cheers.
I agree w/ everything u said in this awesome vid.
My mother bought me new sneakers every year from Kmart for $10/pair. The thing is they didn't last all year. I asked a friend about her sneakers. She had them for two years and they looked nice. I went to our local mall and found a pair like hers for $24. I told my mom about them. She never bought me another pair of sneakers after that. They were Nikes. I'm loyal to the brand because they last. I buy dumbbells. I lift daily. The weights cost about $30 for the set. It takes me awhile to build muscle from lifting them. My dog costs me a fortune. I rescued her, but she requires shots and checkups, flea care, etc. I love her, but she is expensive.
Slow drive thru lines helped me save money. It may sound silly but I have no patience for it. The fast food places around me have gotten so slow I just skip it all together. The last time I went to a fast food place the line did not move at all for almost 10 minutes. So I left.
My family thought I was crazy because I sold my car. I l9ve walking and everything is a half of from my home
Cool re: the habits from other countries!
I would add get in the habit of Taking care of your things if expensive or cheap. If it last longer you'll spend less and you'll still be excited to have them.
I love Apple, but I don't buy everything they make, that being said, I still have my iPhone 7 from 2016 and my 2015 Laptop, which I use for work. Great list. Muchos Gracias!
Eu amo seus videos ❤
Never ‘move your stuff’. I found out recently that it’s better to leave your stuff where you bought it. To move it costs above the relative value. Please go to goodwill and buy new furniture and save yourself the hassle, it’s like paying twice for your stuff. Bring the incomparables but the rest leave and sell before you leave. My lesson is as learned…
A lot of my furniture was my grandparents...love it!
Doesn't disintegrate like cheap rubbish passed off as furniture these days.
Garden tools from my dad and grandparents...so much better than rubbish ones from China
@@rosalynne8792 It’s the only time it’s worth hauling, I only had a few antiques, should have ditched the rest…
Thanks for sharing
What's one habit that destroys your budget?
Wanting to eat out or in occasionally cause I love s certain dish a particular way.mine doesn't taste the same or other cheaper places don't make it the way I want.

I haven't ordered any food delivery in over 4 months and that's saved me Immensely.
It provides convenience but you pay for all overhead operating expenses of the corporation + the tip that you otherwise wouldn't incur for takeout.
Walking, biking or bussing to restaurants has saved me SO much.
When I'm feeling ultra disciplined and conservative I save the most money and have more fun just preparing my own meals at home!
