- In this video, I will get you comfortable with the unique aspects of the Mazda RX-8. These are things that are very basic and common knowledge to rx8 owners, but if you are very new to the car, it can be tricky to figure out.

I accidentally installed a dual resonator mid pipe instead of a highflow cat I was tryn to get ready for emissions but. But it's cool a guy I now works on these cars and he knows away around that

In the back of trunk there is a slot where you can pin/sandwich up to two liters of oil. If y'all are premixing or just keeping your normal oil that's a good place so it doesn't leak everywhere.
It's a bit hard to put the clip through the handle but I've fit a full jug (5 liters I believe) in that location. I've used it when buying oil or using the last of my jug at the track as a top up.
You need to do some interior cleaning mate

I got one for you. How to open the passenger door when your friends leave you in the back passenger rear seat. On the bottom left side of the front seat there is a strap pull it towards you and the front seat folds foward and slide up then you can reach the door handle to open t he door. EASY😆

I highly recommend going for the manual for increased horsepower and easier to increase engine life due to clearing carbon build up with redlining! But whatever you choose, it’s a great car
@@lukegrasso7924 it was my first manual transmission car, I stalled a few times then got the hang of it. I would also highly recommend going for the manual if possible but either way it's a great car. I'd say your first big purchase for the car if it's mechanically sound would be tires and rims if possible. It takes an already amazing car to another level, currently running 245/35/18 square on a staggered sparko and Enki set of rims.

I got one from Virginia back in 2018 for $3600. 04 with 52k on the clock. Once I saw it and the shape it was in I knew I had to buy it. No compression test or anything. Did reliability upgrades immediately. Runs great so far. $3600?????? Yeah I'll take it.

Ok, here is a thing I figured out only after some time owning my rx8. The ability to dim/colour change of the dashboard lights.
When you turn the lights of the car on, depending on what setting you have, the dash lights can stay bright white when using your lights during daytime. Or you can set them to dim and change to a blue/red colour scheme for at night.
I only figured this fader switch after some time. 😅
1:50 my rx8 doesn’t have that trunk opening. it was actually replaced with a 12” sub haha

On my R3 there’s a trunk disable button on the passenger side, I accidentally knocked this while replacing the cabin filters then wondered why the trunk/boot wouldn’t open. Maybe one missing from here 🤪
Can confirm. Couldn't open boot/trunk on key fob so thought it had buggered up and just used the button in car to open it for a month. Until in the glove box and noticed this exact button lmao only had the car for a year and half at that point

I have never driven a rotary engine and heard lot of complaints on reliability, but i still like rx8. I have a daily car and im planning to get rx8. I there is any rx8 owners please give me your opinion.
As long as you take care of it, it will be good to you. There is a website called rx8club, it has pretty much any information you would want, but if it doesn't there is definitely somewhere you can find what you are looking for.
What Spoiler do you have mounted on your Trunk? I like it.
I found it much harder to take off in 1st gear than reverse with mine lol... I rarely if ever stalled reverse, but been there, done that plenty of times in first lol

How to open the bonnet of the Mazda RX8
Never understood why they put so much effort into the rear compartments when most likely no one was ever going to sit there for so long that you would need them.
They really wanted to market this as a true 4 seater sports car. And the rear cupholder comes in handy when you've got a really tall drink blocking your shifts

@@mattcrouch8984 I've ridden in the back with my father driving just to test out the comfort and it is actually quite a comfortable ride fr.the back, there's just no foot room. Let room depends on how far back the front 2 want to recline.
I have a question. I just got a low mileage RX8 (27,000 miles) and took it on a bit of a rag last night. At one point, I went a bit too quick over a hump in the road and my back end got slight air time. It hit the ground with a bit of a thud, but still drove the same and no wierd noises. Will my suspension be ok with it just being the once? I have learnt to never do it again btw!

Redline is not 9000 rpm. Around 9500. Maybe 9300 but definitely not 9000. I mean fuel cut off.
Well it really is 9000 RPM it’s just the series 1 gauges at least for RPM can be off by 500-600 rpm towards the top. Mine went to 9500 as well before it bounced but it’s really just the inaccurate gauge

it is hard to tell. I personally don't think so just because the rx8 is almost seen as an irrelevant car when compared to the rx7s (for rotary engines)
That's a shame the s2 definitely feel different. Almost more solid.

To a degree it already is among rx8 people. R3 interiors alone sell for over a grand. My friend bought his R3 and was lucky enough to get Spirit R rx8 interior pieces. He also makes amazing rotary content just like @japandatuning his channel is 6italia0 if you wanna check it out. But back to R3’s. They aren’t collectible to everyone else but to rx8 people yes they already are.
Only the Spirit R R3 will be a collector car. I think every other RX8 just go out and enjoy them as they were meant to be.

rotary engines are reliable. Matter of fact. Every engine is reliable.
It all comes down to the cost of repair that's all. Sure the rotary is reliable. It just cost about like $5000 to repair a small component in the engine (apex seals)
