- www.buymeacoff... Just started to help Cathy, The Real Gunsmith's Wife with production and all that entails.
Randy shares another memorable elk hunt with his custom .280 Rem., loaded with 160 gr. Nosler Partition, from some years ago. He had to stalk the elk for some time to get a good shot, for a successful hunt on a good, high 345 6 point bull.
The elk piled up in a snow chute, with lots of ice. Probably the hardest elk he’s had to get processed in the field!

Thank you for sharing your experience
Great job Randy,!
Thanks so much for sharing your experiences with us. I’m 73 and spent most of my life hunting and fishing. I feel so thankful that I grew up in the outdoors. I no longer hunt but I live were I watch deer and turkey daily. As I write this a beautiful whitetail buck is walking in the field 100 yds from me. Love your videos. May God Bless you and your family.
Excellent sir, thank you!
Thank you
I could listen forever.
Always a pleasure to listen to one of your great stories, thanks for sharing!
Take care and be well!
Randy thanks for sharing and may the good Lord bless you and both.
Your experience is like light for people like me we see with it’s help stay blessed with your family Aameen
Well done once again Randy . It must be wonderful to be able to big elk so close to home. I always enjoy hearing your account of the hunt. Fantastic! Alun
Great hunting adventure what a great ambassador to elk hunting
Sir thank you for your stories and knowledge I’ve been loading my rifle rounds for 30 plus years and you have forgotten more than I’ll ever know sir GOD BLESS y’all Amen 🙏
Hello Randy sir and your lovely wife GOD BLESS you both Amen 🙏
What load did you like pushing the 160 in the 280 Rem. Just loading that now coincidentally.
60 gr RL 22, 160 Nos. Partitions.
Thanks for watching.
@@TheRealGunsmith Interesting. That is a pretty stiff load. I always like to ask people about their 280 Rem loads as I have been working up slowly on my load. The published loads these days are on the low side IMHO. I'm at 53 grains of IMR4350 with a 160 Accubond and am happy with the accuracy so I will probably stay there.
pleasuer to listen to that.
Randy, you NEED to put out a hunting story at least once a month! Great stuff!
I love it! Son-Hey dad where you going? Randy- over here where the elk live. Son- where do I go? Randy- the opposite way, betters our odds!! Lol 😂 😂 keep up the videos!! I really want to learn how to operate a lathe, anyway to do a video series on it? Thank you both!!❤
Love it!! And a lot of it has to do with raising the boys, they were taught to hunt independently, and the apples didn't fall far from the tree. Especially, our youngest son, as he hunts alone the majority of the time. Our oldest, with 7 children, but "only" three in their home area in AK, still loves to take them along. It is all a new experience up there for them and dual hunting is smart!
Thanks for watching.
Just got home from taking my middle boy duck hunting. He’s 9, took the 14 year old last Sunday, and the 6 year old would rather ride a sheep, calf, or whatever let’s him on!
Nice memory!! Thank you for sharing. I have a 280 Remington. I am curious, what compelled you to tote that particular rifle vs the wapiti version?
It's been a # of years ago, and can't remember exactly, but I do like the .280 Rem, my .270's, etc and they all need to get some exercise now and then. ;)
Thanks for watching.
Love hearing your hunting stories. I wish I had went elk hunting out west before I fell and disabled. I have regretted it many times. I can only hunt now by sitting in my vehicle on my property and mother in-laws property. It's not as much fun as walking in God's country. I simply don't have a choice.
Awesome hunting story Randy can't wait for the next one!!!
Love your videos, thank you Cathy for everything you do to get these amazing videos out to us viewers. Every video with Randy is equal to attending a semester of university with the most knowledgeable gunsmith/reloader/guide/hunter/mentor. I have learned more from these videos then you can ever imagine. I thank both of you for all of this. God bless.
Wow, thank you, so very much! Goal achieved! God bless you and yours!
