Wow! I was wondering what all the YT notifications were about...then opened /r/reverseengineering and saw my video. Many thanks to everyone for the kind words- definitely inspired me to start cranking out content again. And sorry about that bad blog link that was in the description- fixed.
Hey Tony, I liked your video a lot and so I subscribed your channel. I'm currently working on a translation project and we need to reverse engineer and translate a firmware file, the extension is quite weird ".fw". Do you think you can have a look and give me a quick hint on what I can use to extract or edit this file? Here's the link: drive.google.com/open?id=1rF26ql5oewQYBgl1HL98FK0brspiW_Xu
YT has just recommend this video, and this is by far one of the best tutorials that I have seen. Straight to the point, not wasting time explaining the basics at a nice place and eloquently narrated. Please post some more interesting videos, even if explaining the basics. YT needs more content like yours.
The thing that’s great about his video is that he not only tells you how to do it but also tells you the thinking process, while still keeping the video short and straightforward. He’s a great educator. I hope my teachers are all like him.
you are one of the best teachers and explainers I've ever seen online. Your pace is excellent, and your pauses for in depth explanations are just when and where they should be! Please continue making videos! this channel is pure gold ! I got here by accident... and had no intention of reversing firmware and UART hacking, but now I want to!
Can't believe you only have two videos... get cracking, you're awesome!! Also an idea, maybe a twitch channel for live stuff. You can then edit highlights to youtube :)
I finally found a place on my level! I'm just learning this stuff. I'm building and working on esp devices with mqtt. Now burning chips. My normal profession for 23yrs is low volt work like access cctv etc. I subbed right away. Amazing teacher!
This is top quality material, really. Even though I'm familiar with 99% of what is presented here, I literally enjoyed every single second of it. Thanks for your time!
Just caught your site by chance and super glad I did. Fantastic communication skills, you are hands down the best narrator I have ever heard for this genre. Usually, those "in the known" are, well, just dry and nerdy and have zero vocal skills. Love the banter the delivery, that coupled with the obvious mad electronic and programming skills you are a phenom in my book. I subscribed in the first minute. Keep them coming and I will look for your patreon info next. Thanks
Tony, I only see two videos? are you going to do more? I really liked this and inspired me to do this project. Hopefully you have more videos and I looked in the wrong library. All the best. Just subbed
Great video, thank you! You will kick it on YT because your style is easy going and your easy to follow among with. Seems suggested video is pushing it so hopefully it's the first of many 👍
Yeah, I was thinking the same thing but I still do this with my Kali for work so still rather relevant even some of the tools are a little different. Still gave him a thumbs up. Looked if he had more content and was sad that there wasn't.
This is one of the most beautiful tutorial videos ive ever seen!!! from zero to hero in 11 mins (feels like just 2mins). and the fun thing is, i do have the exact same cam and model ^-^ double fun to learn more about it by looking into its code. - btw: did i see a shellscript building a linux passwd file (user accounts/maybe passwords) from NV RAM content ?! VERY interesting!!! PLEASE!!! MORE!!!
Wow great video ... I know you must be a busy guy for sure cuz you gave me more insight in one video than what I have tried to learn from others videos in this genre ... I look forward to watching more of your great and easy to follow content
Seriously, his UA-cam account only has two videos. One from 2 years ago and one from 2 weeks ago. His content is superb but, unfortunately, inconsistent.
You know what I loved about this video compared to others? You were quick and straight to the point. Brilliant video, thank you!
I agree. Excellent video
Exactly!
Yeah, explaining too.
thats not the point, the thing is to understand what it does and its functions
Exactly

You're such a great teacher Tony! More content would be awesome :)
Would love some more videos :)

@@YuGoCheff Hello Nop.
Mate your the fucking bomb. I’m showing my employers how “out of date” their new shit is and how exploitable it is.

Loved the enthusiasm despite you probably having done this a million times. inspiring
Your conversational tone with the computer makes it very easy to understand. Thanks for enlightening us!

This guy is an absolute genius, the video layout, explanation, its all too good to be true
Your positive way of talking is a thrill to listen. You’ve made my day 🙏
Great video! I used it to reverse firmware for an NVR years ago, and I've come back to watch it several times again recently.
Can't believe you only have two videos... get cracking, you're awesome!! Also an idea, maybe a twitch channel for live stuff. You can then edit highlights to youtube :)
Only two videos on this channel, but both of them are absolutely awesome.

I'm just learning this stuff. I'm building and working on esp devices with mqtt. Now burning chips. My normal profession for 23yrs is low volt work like access cctv etc.

Best video of expert IT knowledge I have ever seen in my 20 years of being a software engineer.
This is top quality material, really. Even though I'm familiar with 99% of what is presented here, I literally enjoyed every single second of it. Thanks for your time!

Wow, I can't tell you how immensely useful this has been! I have like two sheets worth of notes here :).

youtubes algorhitm recommending a 2 year old video to everyone again
because it's great
Yeah, I was thinking the same thing but I still do this with my Kali for work so still rather relevant even some of the tools are a little different.
Still gave him a thumbs up. Looked if he had more content and was sad that there wasn't.
Is that a problem? I came here voluntarily cos the other vid was wicked.
That's nothing. I've been recommended 6-8 year old videos a couple of times already.
Why not? And: The YT algo figured out that the video content is still relevant. ;-)
I learned more in this video than my entire life on firmwares :D
It's just an amazing video! Very thanks to the author for sharing his knowledge, it's super useful and clear. Really appreciate your work!
From now on, I'm going to pronounce lzma as Lizma as well. Hadn't heard that ever before.
Thanks to UA-cam algorithms,I’ve learnt something incredible today. Great video man
Thanks Tony, this motivates me to try firmware reversing for my camera too. Have a great day. Greetings from Austria
Awesome video dude.
