OMG… my friend recommended you and I’m so happy she did. You helped me learn a lot already
I'm so happy I've found your channel! I've always wanted to crochet and now I've just done my very first foundation line of 120 stitches and am now going to use this video to help me turn this line into a blanket! so happy! thank you :)xx
Thank thank thank you!!! You have some of the best crochet tutorials, I like how you slow it down for us beginners!!
Thank you for finally making this make sense!! I have tried using books and magazines and other video and never produced anything that looks right and now I have!!
Bella Coco thank you for the info about the differences us abbreviation and uk abbr. Now i can figured it out. love from Indonesia
Thank you thank you... you have restored my faith in crochet, never crocheted before have been trying to master for weeks, this video has helped so much, finally cracked it... :)
Thanks for clarifying this whole 'starting off' crochet mystery. Finally a slow, step by step process that is easy to follow - it's finally starting to 'click' with me - thanks x
Your channel is adorable, I'm getting way further than I when I was. Finally made a slipknot and a chain. I think I managed to do the row of double crochet but finding the right hole is really confusing I feel like I'm missing some holes. It's hard to count the chains.
I have never accomplished any crochet projects before but after watching this video it my first flower project 😊.
Thank you very much for this video 🥰
Thank you for this tutorial 👏🏼👏🏼☺️☺️☺️ at age of 34 i learn how to do crochet.
That's great! I learned crochet as a young teenager in Europe, and didn't catch onto knitting till I was 48! ENJOY CREATING, fellow needle friend!☺️
Thank you so much for your channel. I started crocheting October..watched your videos over and over until I got it right..when I first started it took me 4 hours to do a small granny square now I can do one in 7 minutes!!!
Thank you so much. This is the only tutorial that made sense (I'm in the U.K. so wanted uk terms) I have a square of crochet!
Hi Sarah Jayne, my friend told me to go and look at your tutorials. I haven done anything much apart from Granny Squares and WAY WAY WAY back when I was in school I crocheted a round shoulder bag and won 1st place. Back then I had no idea what stitches I was using. But I now need to make a poncho so am learning all the time. Thank you for being here Hugs and Loves xxxx
this was so much better then the book description
Thank you so much for this very clear easy to follow tutorial for beginners.Iam a visual learner who appreciates your time and sharing your skills with others is a wonderful thing to do. Thanks again.
This solved my crochet problems completely ! Thanks so much! Sarah from New Zealand. Many thanks.
Very helpful video that helped sort out some beginner crochet drama. Thanks 👌🏻
Hi, thanks. That's the absolute best beginners tutorial I have seen. Well done.
thank you Bella your how to's are a blessing
Love all of these tutorials - really easy to follow. I am making slow progress with my crochet but am sticking with it and loving it! Thank you x
You are very welcome and remember that crochet is practice and patience :)
hii! i know this comment was 2 years ago, i just wanted to check out on your crochet journey?
Your videos are brilliant. Very simply explained and perfectly shown. Huge thanks from me as you enable me to make some lovely little things for my girls:)
Excellent, videos that i can understand and follow. You are a God send! Thank you for taking the time to make these videos.
Bella Coco...I have always wanted someone to actually show me how to crochet and I have found you! Thank you. Can I ask what you would recommend for my first project? Xx I hope you don’t mind me asking.
Hi Lorraine you're very welcome, it's really difficult to recommend anything as it really depends on how confident you are, why don't you choose something you like and just give it a go (maybe start with something small) I hope you get on OK and just remember that crochet is all about practice and patience :)
Bella Coco thank you so very much for taking the time to reply. I have dug out all my wool (which is a lot trust me) and going to get started again. Even found a couple of unfinished projects and realised I wasn’t as bad as I thought I was. Thank you again xx
So glad I've found your videos. Now to try and not get all mixed up holding the yarn 😂
Thank you and remember that crochet is practice and patience so keep trying and it will get easier :)
AWESOME tutorial! Now i stitch like crazy thanks so much! xx isabella
thank you so much, you so clearly demonstrate,. really appreciate this :)
this is an amazing video thank you so much
I've just learnt how to crochet watching this video but can you please tell me how I cast off/ finish the piece please? X
+Zoe Tracey Chain one and pull a loop, snip you yarn and then pull the yarn all the way through. It create a knot! hope that helps. In my other videos were I do projects, you will see me do this x
You make this so simple! Thank you!! :-)
Thanks for this, Bella. The trouble that I have is getting the yarn to loop around my left hand. I cannot seem to hold the hook and yarn correctly.
Thank you!
Omg was it confusing before i found this vid, turns out i been doing double crochet all along 😧
I finally understand thank you
Thank you so much for these clear and easy tutorials. My husband and I are just learning the basics of crochet. Our instructor recommended your UA-cam videos. What size crochet hook are you using? Thank you very much! 😁
Hi Cindy, this one is a 4.0mm hook, but feel free to change to suit your yarn thickness and your desired tension.
x
Many thanks for this. Have just finished a small blanket to go to my local pet hospital.
I just realize that I have been crocheting wrong. Nooooo
very helpful
A big thank you.At end my pattern it says chain 1 but doesn't say to turn. Looks like I do turn. Well if it doesn't work I'll try nit turning. Thanks again.
Thank you! I was looking for this one but I kept coming across the American ones with different terms and I was like “no I need the UK one”
thanks
I'm an absolute beginner and thought I was doing my dc wrong, because upon turning the chain it made no sense whatsoever and looked a jumbled mess, but according to this video, I was doing the dc and the foundation ch right the whole time. So I guess my problem is a manual quality of the stitches themselves, which, only practise will remedy?
Crochet is practice and patience so keep trying and it will get easier :)
Bella Coco The wool that I have is horrible and it falls to pieces but yours looks pretty decent so I was wonder if you could tell me where u get your wool if you could reply it would be very helpful
I am just learning crochet and my first lesson, I was told to put the wool over the hook BEFORE I went into the stitch, but lots of videos don't do this. Does it matter?
Does the curling go away as you continue the project? Is it normal, I've seen a lot say it should curl 😅 don't want to sink loads into a project for it not to uncurl itself
Dose she just put it in one loop or both at the back
I made a washcloth the other day using only single crochets. However, it turned out hourglass shaped instead of square shaped. I believe I may have miscounted somewhere along my progress. Also, I may be having trouble figuring out where to insert my hook after completing the very first single crochet. Help! Please! xD
Your video is clear but I cant get this result. It isnt easy for me to see if I am choosing the right loop to start the stitch and the result doesn`t look anything like yours
So for every one we have to space two chains or no?
You should work into each chain space along. We only skip chains in the beginning to bring us to the correct height to work the next stitch 😊
Hi Bella Coco, I have noticed in some other tutorials that in the US to do a single crochet (uk dc) they pull through both loops on the hook instead of going through one loop on the hook, then pulling through both loops on the hook. Why is this please? Makes it quite confusing!
To make a double crochet (or a US single) you must always insert your hook into the stitch or chain, yarn over and pull through (leaving you with two loops) and then yarn over and pull through both loops. Perhaps in the videos you mention they are just not showing the first part? 😊
Hi there! Can you recommend a good yarn thickness for beginners?
To start with I would recommend DK or Aran weight yarn. DK is the most readily available, but aran weight is slightly thicker so will make the stitches easier to identify 😊
What size hook are you using in this video, please?
When id do mine it dont go like that
will it always remain floppy as you go along? or will the stitch become firmer later?
So you only go through the front/back v when making the second double crochet line? I'm a bit confused
This video is way more explanatory
Has this one got squares to it or not
This video is showing you how to do UK double crochet (US single) it's just a sample piece :)
This is my first time crochet and I'm not sure if I got it or I'm winging it to be honest but it looks ok 😕 not as good as yours though
In the UK it's called a single crochet not double. A double crochet is yarn over insert hook yarn over pull through, until you have 3 hoops on your hook, Yarn over pull through two, yarn over again and pull through two until there's only one. That is a double crochet
See she is going into the back loop
When working into the foundation chain you should insert your hook through the centre which will give you one loop, however when working into actual stitches from the second row onwards, you should insert your hook under both sides of the stitch, giving you two loops 😊
I still get confused when chaining off to start the next row.
Hi Carol just remember that crochet is practice and patience so don't give up and it will all fall into place :)
In polish language it is PÓŁSŁUPEK [puwˈswupɛk] :D
Bit confused when you go through 1 loop in the very beginning i was thought years ago you go through two
When you are working on the first row, into the foundation chain, you usually go under one.
For rows after, you can go under both, or just front, or just back, depending on the pattern.
In the video
I'm a failure I don't under stand in sorry😭😭😭😭😭😥😥😥
This is supposed to be a video for beginners but you're not starting off at the beginning. Not helpful at all.
You maybe better starting off with my 5 beginner tutorials, here is the link to the first one:- ua-cam.com/video/GcOzdAzmtNM/v-deo.html you can find the links to the other ones underneath the video. You can slow down the video and/or pause so that you can catch up :)
It’s not just the uk that call this a double crochet...
I neglected crocheting for about a year. And because I have seizures I forgot essential parts of how to crochet. Thus far I can’t even make a square patch look like it is what it is. So Thank You for showing me this thus far. ♥️🙏🏾
You are very welcome :)
