Even though this song is about Adam and Eve, I like to think about "she's beautiful walking up to me, she's wonderful standing next to me" "She's a part of me, she's my wife" and remember that marriage is a reflection of christ and the church. This is how Jesus is going to see us when we are fully united with him for all of eternity. Our unity with christ is so intimate that we are his body, and he has purchased us as his bride. As a single person i find this comforting that even though I might not experience earthly marriage, it is only a reflection of what we will experience with Jesus for eternity.

I just realized that when he sings "Like the first man, I was cut so deep by heavens's knife", he's talking about Adam, when God was creating Eve, from his rib. "When I awoke from my sleep, oh my Lord, she's beautiful", it's kind of a reference to when Adam first saw Eve. That's so much more meaningful now! This song is art.
Im a big fan of this song and i never thought of it like that. Like the first man...it does make sense. In my opinion he is a true artist blessed by God.

Really struggled to find the perfect first dance song for my wedding. But I think I've just found it. This is wonderful. So many "romantic" songs have lyrics that are shallow or cliche. Or they simply fail to capture the true meaning of Christian love. On the other hand, a good chunk of Christian music is, frankly, bland. Thank you, Josh Garrels, for using your talents to write Christ-honoring, lyrically rich, and musically engaging songs. They are a blessing.

The Book of Mormon also says that we can be gods someday which is completely shut down by God when he says there are no other gods and that he doesn’t even know of any. Mormonism also commits the fallacy of infinite regress in its theology. That is only scratching the surface of what is keeping Mormonism from the truth. I would encourage you to read the true Gospel of the Bible with an open and honest heart to find truth. I wish you the best of luck in your pursuit.
