It’s crazy that a coupe would have been that big and loud . Cars have REALLY changed a lot over the years . Beautiful machine , take care of her

@SgtBurl01 It's great to see your going to keep this classic in the family. We had a 73 Monterey 2-door, it was a light green/mint color, gotta love those 70's colors they put on the cars, lol, your right, it rode so damn smooth and drove just as well. I will have one someday myself, sure miss that ol' ride. I forgot they put 429's in them as well. We had the 400 which would put you back in the seat when you really wanted it to, :) hope you share more of this great car with us. So cool.

Thanks for the interest everyone. I think 429 cid is equivalent to 7 liters. An appropriate name would be the O'l Gas Hog. Cousin Eddie has a lot of power but at a cost. It gets about 11 miles per gallon. If my math is right, that is less than 5 kilometers/liter. The engine really moves this 6000 lb car! I'll post another video once I've fixed up the interior.

My first car was a 1973 2 door Mercury Monterey. It was mint green with a white vinyl top. My friend Dan gave it the name of " The O'l Hog". It was a 400CID 2bl. It had Bondo when I got it that slowly rusted through in the rear quarters. I paid $600.00 for it in 1980. I was 16.

Thanks for your interest. I'll drive 'Eddie' around this summer. This fall/winter we'll take care of the body and the interior. It will be perfect next year. This big Merc has a 429 with just over 44,000 original miles. My grandmother bought the car new in Florida and it has been in the family since. This car has the smoothest ride of any car I've ever driven. It is a very nice driving car. Lots of power too! One of these days it will look as good as it rides.

Nice car! You don't see many of the 2 doors anymore, especially in that nice of shape. Have you started the resto on it yet? Has the 400 or 460 in it? Mileage? Thanks for sharing with us......great ride

That’s odd that they make the streets in your neighborhood out of sectioned concrete squares, where you can see the dividing lines like a sidewalk. Why is that? Around my way, I’ve only ever seen residential streets made out of asphalt. Where is that (roughly... don’t have to give me exact location)?

big ugly super junk, full of holes , Thats Junk, I can see all the bondo thru the triclad paint, they used a roller and paint brush to hide all the holes also floor patched up with plywood and wood screws holding it

john burry >>> Oh honest to God John, you’re on a pretty far fetched fishing expedition I think. Where in the video could you see the floorboards filled in with plywood and secured with wood screws? Impossible! They never had the doors open so you couldn’t see inside, nor did they take any interior video.
And if you can see bondo and inferior paint in this mediocre a video, then you are one incredible fellow; and I should be booking an appointment at your shop to have you repaint MY car!
Interesting you’re the same guy who dissed the gold 73 Marquis on another video, and coincidentally you said the same thing there- bondo and wood floorboards. I call bullshit my friend. You can’t see any of that... you just hate the make model and year of this car, and will do anything to bash it. I could probably search 10 more 1973 Merc Marquis videos, and I’ll find your name and your same comments. Unbelievable! 🤦‍♂️
