If there is one interview I remember so vividly from these days it's this one. WOW. Man I miss her and Donnie was a great interviewer, real comfortable with her. Then one day BET just changed and all this type of programming went away. Videos Soul, Video LP, Caribbean Rhythms, all that stuff. What an era in music that was.
On the other comments about Vesta a guy said that she wanted to be like Chaka Khan so bad. I don't think she was, she did sing back up for her but she wanted to be a solo artist too.. Why couldn't she? And what could she have done about her voice ? If she sung back up for Chaka then she was gonna sound like Chaka! Just like John B sounds just like Babyface and Mary wells sounds like Patti LaBelle and the list gets on ... RIP Vesta Williams I will always you and you music 😥
Nyaa Parrish I agree with You so many artist sound like each other but Vesta Had a voice of her own and I hate the industry didn’t Back her like they should’ve. She could’ve been just as big as Chaka and everyone else during that time. And also she song on a few of Chaka’s songs on record too Some Of Her Greatest hits you can hear her vocals because she has a very distinctive voice that’s probably why Chaka choice her
Remind me to find out. Go back into her life performances and see if she's in the background. Try to find as many of her backup singers names you can find.
How to properly hit records I think I heard a song. She should have really went and explored. Define her own unique way of saying it. She kind of overlooked that.
Yes, Chaka can sing, but NOWHERE close to Vesta. What many people don't know is Vesta was Chaka's back up for a reason. Vesta was the one who HIT THE HIGH NOTES for Chaka. Listen to Women Of Brewster Place, Theme song, Come Back and The Wall. Oprah selected Vesta for those songs. Listen closely, it'll ALL make sense. Congratulations IS A DEAD GIVEAWAY! Hint, Hint... After Vesta died, so did Chaka's voice!
@@aaronwilliamsvocalgold6416 Luther and Aretha didn't get along either. Aretha respected him as an artist but hated when Luther would try to tell her how to sing in the studio.
She's the type of woman that you can take an out of town drive with or just fly around the world with... She's the best = R.I.P. VESTA
She was such a good time, no boundaries. RIP Ms. Vesta

I love Vesta! May she rest in heaven!
