I was really excited when this sound bar was released. Unfortunately the wireless sub is a deal breaker. I have an excellent Yamaha sub that is less than 2 years old and I have no intention of getting rid of it. Yamaha has really disappointed me in the last few years. They keep releasing new products that are not compatible with their older products. Yamaha is clearly trying to force people to upgrade their complete systems in order to function with their newer product lines. This is dishonest by Yamaha. Yamaha could very easily have provided a wired sub output but they've invested so heavily into the wireless craze that the only way to get people to upgrade is by denying them the most basic functions. Shame on Yamaha. Yamaha makes Sony look reputable in comparison. A once innovative brand is resorting to such low marketing techniques. Ya, I'm gonna upgrade to a complete new system but it wont be a d*mn Yamaha!
I really do HATE SoundBars... There's NO WAY that can output surround sound but people love to fool their selves with those gimmciks just because of "whishful thinking..." 🙄 Stupidity at it's MAX !
You are right. Soundbars can not be better than a discrete home theatre system with real speakers. But, the majority of the people like to have just a flexible speaker for their television.

The X50A has almost the same configuration as this one. The nice thing with these Yamaha soundbars is the high quality of the drivers they have.
Only difference between the 40 and 50 is the subwoofer that comes with it.
@@0311uli50s has another frequency response for built subs - 100 Hz to 220 Hz. It’s really big different for sound.

You can splice the wire coming from the large low frequency driver from soundbar shown for your older yamaha sub
I have the same story. But I decided to update my old YAS207. I hope this decision is right and I will hear the difference $))

Is that possible to turn off this red light on the front of soundbar? This light is not be a problem when you watch something?
