I love this Elise! So much clothes! I was wondering, if for a video idea, you could go over your "process" of how you put an outfit together. I always want to have more interesting style like you, but I can't put an outfit together LOL. I'm sure your audience would love these tips!! Like why you'd pair some things together, what style elements you like to put together, like jackets over certain outfits. Dresses with certain shoes, etc. Or if you just sort of creatively wing it, etc. Like, what made you decide to put a vest over the dress you wore in this video? While me, I wouldn't even realize it. I'd just wear the dress and be boring, and forget to put on earrings, etc.

What a wonderful wardrobe, but it can be overwhelming keeping all those clothes pressed and clean. Everything is so unique. I just done the same job and I feel better. It is Fall here in Canada, and it will be winter soon. Thanks for the video. Hugs Bea

We are in the same "declutter phase". We have to sell 90% of our stuff / clothes to move OFF GRID to Sardegna ;)
At the start of this video you seemed to have more clothes than I've ever had as an adult. Made me smile. I smiled again when you said with the last black dress that it was too similar to the one you were wearing to keep. This after you kept several black and white checks, a pattern you clearly love and suits you.
Keeping what you love means it will be worn, that earns it wardrobe space.

I'm in the process of doing the same thing. It's exhausting, because unlike you, I have things that are now too large because I have lost a little weight, so I have to try almost everything on🙄. It does feel wonderful to look at organized drawres though that aren't spilling over with clothing I seldom if ever wear. Thank you for the inspiration to continue to tackle the next pile that I have been avoiding a little because it is so daunting! Love your videos!
WOW! You did a great job.It's just so much fun looking at your clothing. I recently cleaned out a portion of a closet and was sore for a week-but I'm an old woman. Now that I don't have that beauty that comes with youth, I'm glad I have all my beautiful clothes to wear.

I wonder if the mess could be avoided by hanging your clothes instead of folding them...you know, you take one thing out and the whole pile folds down.
You could have one tall rail for coats and dresses and a doble one for tops and pants.
You can see everything better, avoid wrinkles and once you run out of hangers you know is time to sell/ donate.

Yes it does! I have everything hanging except the things that I can't! Helps me see everything and get rid of it when I'm tired of seeing it. Then a separate rack for coats & jackets is sooo smart

@@EliseBuch Hi Elise. I watch your channel all the time and I love your projects. What i could suggest you about a declutter Have you heard about space saving hanger? I've checked the Amazon and you can get them there. As well I thought about your top shelves, where you keep your jumpers. What about if you get the medium boxes or baskets and roll the jumpers, put them to the box. At least I do it with my jumpers in my wardrobe. It's my problem as well. I learned Kolmari method.

If when thrifting you ever stumble on a big drawer chest, you could substitute your green cabinet and access more easily your folded tops! Just a suggestion.
I really used to struggle with this, I find it hard to decide what to part with. A few years back I tried a new method where you turn your hangers backwards and when you wear things put them back the right way. After a period of time all the clothes still on a backwards hanger need to go. It really worked for me.

I think I need to do this. I like the way you categorised it all. I think that would make it easier for me to let go. I love clothes and hold on to them too much and I don't use them as much as I did as I've moved to Spain and the climate is so different. I like the way you literally got it all out together as it makes you really face each piece. Great video Elise, thank you x

Hi Elise, I have a makeover tip for your closet. You should try some hangers called "Huggable Hangers"!!! You will save room and the hangers are strong enough for your heavier clothes. Also, the clothes do not fall off the hanger. Smile!😃💐🍁

I've just done exactly the same as you last weekend. My partner walked into our room and asked "what on earth is happening??" There was stuff EVERYWHERE!! Wish I could be as ruthless in decluttering my vintage dresses 😔
If you switch out your wooden hangers for a more slim ones, you'll save a lot of space which is what I did.

An organizer said we actually only wear about 13% of our closet.. i think it must be little more than that! She said to hang all of our clothes backwards then after wearing something hang it back the right way ..then after 6 months we see what we've actually worn!

Maybe put them on racks, sort by colour and style, and it can stay neat throughout the process.
I have my great grandmother's vintage fur jackets (from the 40s) im SO torn on what to do with them! I don't know if selling them is inappropriate?! Any ideas lol.....there are 6 of them, but only 2 floor length
If they fit you, wear them. Or at least one long and one short. Fur, especially vintage, is coming back into use so you should be able to sell them for a good price. Have a look at similar items on resell sites in your country. Compare age, condition, price and you'll have a good estimate for yours. Plenty would be glad of a fur for Xmas so now us a good time to research. Don't forget to weigh them for shipping costs.
Elise, how would you advise people to care for vintage clothing, including the removal of odours? Fur isn't as common as it used to be. I can't wear it myself, my mother offered me her fur jacket decades ago and I felt sad wearing it despite looking good. Wasting old fur in good condition makes no sense, as it doesn't bring the animals back to life. Goes against the thrifter in me to destroy them.

kudos to you but your way would be overwhelming to me. whenever i want to go thru my massive closet & 3 dressers......thats why! i have alot of clothes. its my thing....so i do it drawer by drawer.
sometimes i just do 1 drawer. sometimes if im into it, i do a whole dresser. when i do the closet, i take out a section of hanging clothes at a time. i have only 2 piles...donate & keep. so im always organizing & seeing what i have, etc...& its actually fun, plus i feel good having everything neat & tidy all the time. if you wait for the whole room to be a disaster...thats how hoarding begins. lol.
Capsule wardrobe is the solution. It’s hard to start, the greater the joy later on. When shopping, ask yourself: am I sure I need it? Embrace!
…well done…that was stressful for me and I’m a minimalist for the most part…aaand they’re not even my clothes haha…so many beauties 🤍
