No one ever gives measurements of how much agar agar, water, or sugar. The first batch I made never crystallized after two weeks because I didn’t use enough sugar. Measurements please.
Hi did you try the recipe in ms.shi and mr.he (in their website)? There are also some UA-cam videos about it. (Could you tell me how it went? I want make kohakotou too but afraid I'll mess up.)
@@xcenery oh maybe. I’m assuming if you cover it with foil (but leave some air gaps) it should still dry out, just might be a little slower. Hopefully that works!
Hey help me plss, can you also use cornstarch instead of agar agar powder? Because i have searched for agar agar powder but i can't find it in Belgium😭@@OGCalicant
In my country, it's called agar agar kering means dried jelly candy, known as Malay wedding gift tradition. Decorated as bouquets or come with goodie bags.
@OGCalicant I mean if u leave something like this out with ALOT of sugar for days it can attract bugs, since certain bugs attracts to things that's sweet but idk
@@OGCalicantHaving ants in your house isn’t weird at all. Leaving something sweet out and coming back to it only to find ants is normal! They like the shelter and free food.
The reason why it taste like sugar is because you don't use any flavor. Like juice or syrup just food coloring, sugar, agar agar powder and that it so of course it's going to taste like just sugar
Just because it's japanese it doesn't mean it has the same taste or consistency as mochi. What, do you think every food from a certain country taste the same?
I love the texture of them 😋
so much fun!
You need to add flavoring to that. They are so pretty.
@@user-bb3sg5yk5r thanks!
@@JenHDaoyour so beautiful❤
I need a redo with flavor added please@@JenHDao
@JenHDao to add flavor, I would recommend soda, especially cherry Sunkist, I would say no Milk, and no lemonade or orange juice

appreciate u!
I will make that today 😊
This looks like Thai dessert I used to have when I was young.🤤 Glad I found this because I dont see this dessert much nowadays in my country.
I think if you want to flavour them you can replace the water with fruit juices to get a flavour other than just sugar
They have flavor liquids u can buy
Fruit juices r not recommended as they may go bad quickly
@@Hayasaka_not all of them will go bad the ones most likely to go bad are fresh juices
Thanks for your honesty “taste like sugar” 😂😂😂😂
@@theoutlandishblueprint2419 I couldn’t lie. 🥹
That’s cause she didn’t flavor it
You need to add flavoring, obviously it's going to taste like sugar if sugar is the only flavor.
What is the RECIPE MEASUREMENTS???? Also, the sugar candy tastes like... sugar? I'm shocked and amazed! 😂
Hunest explanation. Thanks
This reminds me of how long it took Jinny to make them😭 I love Jinny ❤
Can I use gelatin instead of agar agar powder? Please reply
No you cant
Yes
No @marmaladeemma1080 , gelatin is like jelly i tried it and it just became moldy, unlike jelly, agar agar can last long
when you leave it for a few days, do you refrigirate it or keep it at room temperature? Do you cover it with foil?
Just leave it uncovered on a countertop

Can you make it with jolly ranchers? Is that possible
Hey, quick question.. where should we store in for few days?? Because if I keep it outside or in my kitchen it attracks ants😅
where do you keep it for few days??
fridge?
I wanted to ask if you can also use normal Jelly Powder/Sugar because in Germany I haven’t seen any Agar Agar😅
@@PiccoBallaFactory they’re usually available at Asian markets or online!

You can add a liquid taste(?) (like lemon, mango and others) so it wouldn't taste like sugar

Wait like wait a few days with it in the fridge or .. on the counter and do you cover it ? And can this be done with normal jello powder …?
Uncovered, and on the counter! I have the full recipe on jenhdao.com 😊
Nope! Not sure but I don’t think you can use jello. It won’t dry on the outside and be crunchy.
@@LolaLuvss Aw dawn but thx for telling me 😅

thanks!
I do have one question, how much sugar should we add
can you freeze them?
There's also an Indian sweet named 'peetha' its same as these crystal candy l.
that "agar-agar"❤
How do u make sure it doesn’t infest germs when it’s being left out
Jinnie needs to c this 😢
In india there is a sweet named petha it look and has the same texture
What to do if yours doesn’t come out right after a few days already?
Wow!
You are so beautiful
thank youuu
Do u leave them in a fridge or out and how many days
Can I just use jello?
Baru tau nyebutnya agar agar juga 😊
You can use a juice instead of water for flavours
Im been waiting 9 months to eat crystal candy like omg
would it work if I just used a hello mix??
If you don’t have agar agar powder can I use jello packet instead?
no, unfortunately it has to be agar
@@JenHDao ok thanks for the help!
Mine never got crunchy 😢 what do I do wrong? I Tried more sugar, more Agar Agar, but the just get dry
Did you let it dry in room-temp for 3-5 days? uncovered?
Can we use Jell-O?
no it has to be agar agar
Did u put a flavor in it
Won’t it be attacked by ants if I leave it out on the counter?
Not if you... live in a normal house?? Ants shouldn’t be in your house in the first place
@OGCalicant I mean if u leave something like this out with ALOT of sugar for days it can attract bugs, since certain bugs attracts to things that's sweet but idk

They are very pretty I just hate the texture. It’s not gummy it’s more of a gelatin to me and it’s very off putting.
But isn't it just jelly
Taste like sugar!? 😂 💀

JAPANESE KOHAKUTOU CANDY??? Seriously?? I've eaten this candy since 20 years ago😮
It’s called Crystal candy 😢😢😢
Hi
There’s no way she made candy and didn’t put any flavoring.
It's just my childhood candy, but dont look pretty like this.
U realize that was created in America.
It's not Japanese.
Ofc it tastes like sugar you didn’t add any sort of flavoring 😭💀
Why do these people post but don’t share recipes

No thanks I'll pass. I strongly dislike the consistency of mochi so I'm not talking any chances with Japanese candy.
Edit, u guys, enjoy
it’s nothing like mochi
Bruh how is this mochi she litterly said it was crystals with a crunchy texture 💀💀💀
Uh
If you like rock candy and gummies, it's that. It's literally just a gummy inside rock candy (sugar sugar sugar)
Just because it's japanese it doesn't mean it has the same taste or consistency as mochi. What, do you think every food from a certain country taste the same?
