It's been a while! But I'm back with... a full Undertale animation AND a properly edited video? What the hell?
In October I decided I wanted to do a "1 Week Challenge" which everybody else was doing at the time, where you make something in a week. I decided to do an re-creation of an older animation I did, however I ended up not meeting the 1 week deadline.
But! It's here now, a month later, which is still record time for me. Maybe I'll start putting stuff out more consistently? Who knows!

I love that they actually payed attention to the fact that papyrus hasn't truly gone insane yet. he is still just as goofy as he was before, just with an added dead brother

This is my favourite depiction of Papyrus in the shoes of a Dusttale timeline.
He feels very much stable, to put it lightly. Can’t explain it any better.
most dustbelief takes have him go coocoo the moment his brother dies but here papyrus slowly breaks over the course of the game and i think that's the better way of tackling his descent into insanity
I really like papyrus's characterization here. he's not just one emotion straight he's actually complex here. He's angry at you for all you've done but his head isn't clear and is unfocused and is unsure about his motives. In this fight he can't think straight, he's thinking about what could have been the relationship between him and the human. His characterization here allows for more potential and development for papyrus in later encounters and I like this.
I love how the idle sprite has papyrus still as rock like his actual fight, but the movement of his clothing is such a great feature that I have to give props to both staying canon and the addition of quality.

one of the best papyrus dialogue i've seen
the attacks look very papyrus-styled, which most games dont get right
this is probably the most creative waterfall encounter in any dustbelief take

Agreed about the papyrus styled attacks. many fangames make papyrus and sans have the same style of attacks even though both of the skeletons have different strategies and uses of their attacks
I actually really like that the insanity slowly sinks in for this take, Papyrus here is confident, but expresses anger, frustration, and confusion.
Later, it seems he'll be crazed, maniacal, no longer hesitant, and even more confident in his actions than before.
super well made, love the sprites, the music, how fair the attacks look and how this still feels like papyrus. very good job to everyone involved
I love how you made Papyrus kinda of a guilty anti-villain instead of a complete sociopathic monster, not that I hate the original Dustbelief, but yours feel less like a Dust!Sans but taller and more like an actual Dust!Papyrus
I am kinda curious of how his "final form" will adapt this personality, I know you can't have a Dust!Variant without being a bit edgy after all
Papyrus' audacity and self confidence turning into an edginess may make sense, I guess. Unless u take any kind of edginess for something bad, but whatever.
Or it might be the opposite, he'll be actually calm & patient cuz of realization of his responsibility and generally understanding what's actually happening. Basically taking fight seriously.

personally i really like the crazy personality of papyrus is dustbelief. In the comic it's fantastic seeing how far he fall to the point to kill a child

i love how the dialogue at 4:22 papyrus is all like "I'M GONNA BE THE HERO OF THE KING'S KINGDOM YEAAHH!!" and then there's the last line in which he instantly switches to "i'm gonna beat the shit outta you when i'm better" and i find that hilarious because this is papyrus

I love how Papyrus is portrayed in this, where he still thinks about how everything COULD'VE been if he acted earlier on, basically thinking about 'another ending' where you and Papyrus can be great friends. But at the same time, Papyrus has no choice but to decend down this path of blight because of how much of a blunder what you really did is. this fan game so far looks excellent and I can't wait to see more of where this goes on.
This is so awesome! All the sprites look great and it looks really fun overall! This reminded me of Astromeda, it's a rpg new game I found on Steam which is similar to Undertale but with its own uniqueness. The battles in it are really fun and hard like this Papyrus fight.
The game also has a demo on steam which is where I found it
i just checked Astromeda out and it looks AWESOME
i've been looking for so long for a game like undertale, and now that deltarune isn't coming very soon this is perfect
i think the reason papyrus' personality here feels too violent but otherwise quite canon, is because he has gained LV, allowing him to resist the overwhelming kindness inside him
I might sound like a broken record at this point, but I love how Papyrus still feels and acts like Papyrus! From his attacks still having that "cool dude" feel while slowly ramping up the difficulty, to Papyrus just dropping his special attack is hilarious, but also sad to see that, in his eyes, he's doing the right thing with the path he's going down! Well done on everything presented here!

@@skell6134I think because Papyrus is taking a role of an anti-villain here instead of a villain (like Dust!Sans), he actually believes that what he does and the people he kills will be back in some form, he is a little goofy, but then again, it's the same guy who was smiling while being decapitated

I could believe that in waterfall encounter he only has LV from after he killed Sans tho
LV 7 human seems to be pretty average for Waterfall as far as Dust games go

Maybe make it when like by judgment hall or maybe core, papyrus stops calling himself "great" anymore, like he's actually starting to question if what he's doing is right or even worth it
I like the detail that as the fight progresses, Papyrus becomes more ready to take a hit seen in his expressions.
I think it's great that Papyrus doesn't really change his personality, he still has clear goals and justifies his actions, he's a good replacement for the original sans (the canon sans suffered from the death of his brother but didn't mourn).
He shows us another side of Papyrus, one where we are shown that he really looks more like his brother than he himself would like. unconcerned about the death of his friends but determined to kill you.
FINALLY, SOMEONE SMART ENOUGH TO REALIZE THEY CAN JUST FREAKING THROW FRISK OFF A CLIFF... automatically PEAK... 🔥🔥🔥

Honestly, i really enjoy this version of dustbelief, papyrus actually feels more accurate to the canon world, full of emotion and such, he isnt just deadpan insane or crazy, hes got expressions, emotions, full dialogue that feels like a true genocide parallel compared to how it was portrayed in like the comics when dustbelief was first around

Can honestly be one of the GREATEST with how papyrus is betrayed as still being goofy.
and that's what I like about it, it doesn't make papyrus some automatic evil psychopath that's like "Humane I've seen your... genocides!11!1" they are actually still in character, just a little shaken up. like with stretch's Dusttale.
honestly I'd say its tied for one of the best DustBelief versions between halo's DustBelief and Kitchen Crew's.

This Just has to be the best fanmade undertale thing ever It perfectly replicates the original game Unlike most fan content which is just too chaotic and hard or too easy with not enough going on but this is different It doesnt only capture the original game it also Adds new mechanics starts off easy and gets harder and has the enemy talking through the battle This storylines absolutely amazing And im so excited to see more
I love this take of dustbelief, he doesn't become super edgy and go on a killing spree for no reason. He starts to realize that maybe the human isn't as good of a person as he thought she'd be. Instead of becoming just as bad if not worse than the player he just does what the GREAT PAPYRUS WOULD DO! Which is becoming 999X more involved in capturing the "Human".
I like to imagine that this route would somehow have even MORE puzzles than normal.
This guy always gets papyrus right. From the dialogue to the way he acts to the humor that's just so and character for papyrus and then generally feels like something Toby would make.
This makes me even more excited for Papyrus' Belief

Honestly this was such a treat, great job! I genuinely look forward to something dust-related so points for that.
this is actually a masterpiece! papyrus' character feels 1000% true to how it wouldve been if this was in ut, i love it. the music is so great, the attacks are good too, the sprites are amazing, this is literally PERFECT. its also really high quality.

This is literally the best characterisation of Papyrus, in my opinion. He's not overly edgy, unlike in OG Dustbelief, but he still treats the situation seriously and he's not just goofing around, unlike in many of those "canonified" Dustbelief takes. He's also still very confident, while in some other takes Papyrus is just stupid
DUDE, THIS IS LIKE, LITERALLY THE PERFECT WATERFALL ENCOUNTER.
I always imagined it would play out like this.
Papyrus is obviously shaken from having to dust his own brother, but still refuses to take the same measures he has before giving you one last chance to give up. Not being as naive as he originally was bc of what Sans has revealed to him, but still hoping he can do things his own way.
Also seems like he hasnt killed anyone besides Sans to at this point so that's a big bonus, most of the time it's shown he's killed Undyne already, which I dislike. I could be wrong about some stuff though since I don't follow this AU as much as I should lol.
Also also I love how his idle is still well... still as a rock like in the og game, yet the jacket moves in the wind.
Its nice that instead of papyrus being insane or cartoonishy sad, he's a papyrus that lost his faith in you and is taking things a bit more seriously while still keeping his goofy personality
I absolutely love how Papyrus says "WHAT? WHAT DO YOU MEAN THIS ISN'T ENOUGH???" when he throws Frisk off the bridge, i can't tell if it's just Sans mocking him or it's him being all serious 'n shit but it's funny af
I mean i suppose it was technically true since they've 100% survived the fall so i can't judge Sans for saying that

love how this truly does feel like Papyrus, because after all: it makes sense for sans to be insane, he’s gone through all of the genocide routes and has remembered them, Papyrus hasn’t and is just Papyrus with a will to complete what his brother did, and a determination to end your genocide: even if he had to start one himself.
