    Get a new Jean Paul before considering ANY used saxophone. The parts are made in China but they are assembled, adjusted and tested in the USA. I have a Tenor and it's fantastic. The customer support is great as well.

    • @SaxTuition
      @SaxTuition  4 роки тому +1

      Hey Michael, check eBay or your local classified listings.. you might be able to find a second hand Yamaha for around that price. There’s not a lot else I could recommend for that price range unfortunately, but you could also try a second hand Jupiter - they generally run a bit cheaper than the Yamahas. Good luck! 👍

    The only reason I wouldn't buy a Jean Paul saxophone here in Australia, is the lack of spare parts.
    If I buy a Jupiter, or Yamaha sax, there are plenty of spare parts available.

    • @SaxTuition
      @SaxTuition  4 роки тому +1

      Hi Willis, thanks for your comment! That shouldn’t be a big problem, unless your saxophone gets seriously damaged. Most repairers carry a variety of different pads, springs, rods, screws etc to suit a variety of different saxophones, which are the main things that get replaced. I’ve taken many different student and vintage saxophones to instrument repairers over the years (including some obscure brands) and never experienced a problem in Australia. Hope that helps!

    Hi sir!New subscriber here!thanks for the tips! I have a question.I am here at Japan and I want to buy a used saxophone to save money.What do you prefer,yas-280 or yas-23?I am interesed in yas-23 because it is made in Japan. Btw,i am just a beginner.

    • @SaxTuition
      @SaxTuition  4 роки тому +1

      Hey Nikko, thanks for the comment! That's a really hard one, both are fantastic, but the YAS-23 is usually at least $200-300 USD cheaper than the YAS-280. Personally, I'd lean towards the YAS-23, but if you're finding it difficult to track down a good YAS-23 the YAS-280 is a great option too. I've done a review on the YAS-23 here if you haven't seen it already: ua-cam.com/video/UpFBxQFdRmM/v-deo.html

    Hi Jeremy! Im pretty confused what sax to buy. Im choosing between Yamaha YAS-23 or Trevor James 'The Horn' .The TJ in Sax.co.uk is 500$ it has Minimal Signs of wear which is the reason it got cheap. The YAS-23 costs 640$ but both costs desame when shipping is added. What to choose? I dont even know if the YAS-23 Was made in Japan cuz the seller
    isnt saying anything. What sax should i choose?

    • @SaxTuition
      @SaxTuition  4 роки тому +1

      Hey, thanks for the comment! Get the YAS-23 if possible. The Trevor James saxes are not bad at all (I've had quite a few students bring them in) but I don't think they're quite as well made as the YAS-23 saxes. As far as I'm aware, all of the YAS-23's and AS-100's are made in Japan, if that helps your decision making. I've done a review on the YAS-23 here if you haven't seen it already: ua-cam.com/video/UpFBxQFdRmM/v-deo.html
      Would love to know what you end up getting! 😊

      @@SaxTuition I think im choosing the Jean Paul alto. Because theres a bigger chance that the YAS-23 might lasts shorter than JP. The sellers on those markets doesn't Guarantee. Im choosing the Jean Paul because as what as you've said, Its checked in US before shipped to me (also said by Jay Metcalf (Better Sax)) . Also about the included accessories. It has a swab and cork grease; also D'addario Ligature and Cap so that means I only need to buy a Yamaha 5C, a Neck and Mouthpiece swab and Reeds. The Yamaha Doesn't include those. which means I need to spend MORE

    Hi hope to get an answer here.
    at 6:43 - You mention Vintage. Now I found a Beginner Saxophone that I like and I believe it's a Vintage Color not actually Vintage Made, are they okay? I am assuming it's no different than a normal color.

    • @SaxTuition
      @SaxTuition  4 роки тому +1

      Hi @ItzVodka, that's right - a lot of saxophones these days come in a vintage lacquer which are made to look older than they actually are. There's nothing wrong with the vintage lacquer, except (ironically) it can actually rub off gradually over time. That's also true for regular lacquer though, so nothing to worry about :)
